I’m not an artist at all, but it’s always fun being able to let loose and be creative in other ways than with words. I was lucky enough to get invited to the private media opening for Paint Cabin last month. It’s a cute little art bar in Leslieville. Adam and I really enjoyed making wax sculptures together so I took him with me.
We took an Uber there and for some odd reason a $10 ride ended up costing us $26. It was a Tuesday night, so that was weird.

Once we got our aprons on, these were the first works of art that caught our eye.
We had a choice between watercolour or acrylic painting (they have a whole bunch of other options on other days as well) and we decided to do watercolour painting. We had to trace and colour in the world map with watercolours. The acrylic painting option seemed like it allowed more creativity, but it also seemed like a lot more work. Neither of us are artists, so we chose the easier option.
The food (provided by The Food Dudes, I believe) was amazing and so was the dessert (I think it was provided by Wanda’s Pie in the Sky). They had a whole bunch of appetizing desserts at the counter but we unfortunately only had room in our stomachs for cake.
Overall, we both had a lot of fun. I highly recommend checking Paint Cabin out especially if you’ve never tried any sort of activities like this before. It’s a great place for dates as well.
Here’s my final product. You can tell I’m not a painter (or a calligrapher, for that matter).
We took an Uber back home and the driver tried to trick us by making huge circles around our destination. We came from the east end and he took us all the way to the west end. I ended up getting refunded some of my fare, but it was definitely only because we caught him. I always give 5 stars but for him I gave 1. Besides all the Uber stresses we had, it was a fun night.
