Adam and I went to Fonda Lola for their media event to try their brand new brunch menu. It’s a small bistro located in a cute little area on Queen West. I promise you it is the best brunch you will ever have.
The Tequila Granola Parfait had tequila in both the granola and in the honey, so it had a pretty strong taste of tequila. I was telling Adam how it didn’t taste that strong but what I meant to say was that it didn’t taste alcohol-y.
The Citrus Margarita was perfect and had just the right amount of everything.
The Lola’s Eggs Benny dish was my absolute favourite. I wasn’t expecting much when I just saw “eggs benny” on the menu, but when I tasted it, I instantly knew Mexican food would become one of my favourite cuisines. The cochinita (apparently a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork dish) and chipotle hollandaise were amazing. And those home fries were also delicious.
I’d only ever had authentic Mexican tacos once before in Koreatown and they weren’t that great. These Breakfast Tacos were absolutely amazing. I’ve recently started liking eggs and I really enjoyed the eggs in these tacos.
The last part of our meal was the Hangover chilaquiles, which was also pretty good.
For dessert, we had Mexican French Toast, which was on Mexican plantain bread. We couldn’t finish the entire thing because we were so full.
Afterwards, we walked along Queen West to look at all the cute shops. We picked up some macaroons at Nadege. We tried all their flavours and cotton candy was my favourite.
We decided to take a walk down Graffiti Alley.
