Adam and I were super excited to come back to Fonda Lola to try their brand-new El Lunch menu. We tried their new brunch menu back in January, and we both agree that it’s the best brunch either of us have ever had. Their lunch menu did not disappoint.
Ernesto, the owner, welcomed us warmly for the second time.
We both tried the Citrus Margarita last time and it was delicious. This time I tried the Rose Kombucha Margarita and it was just as good. Adam got the Mexican beer. I’m not a beer person, but the Mexican beer was really light and I actually enjoyed it.
The appetizer was delicious. It’s called “tlacoyo” and it’s a toasted corn cake stuffed with refried beans and topped with fried egg, Oaxaca cheese (a type of cheese from Mexico, Ernesto informed us), salsa, avocado, and arugula.
Tortas are a Mexican street-food and they are definitely the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. We tried four different tortas which were all amazing, and the one with candied bacon (Torta de Candied Bacon and Egg) in it was definitely my favourite. The other tortas we tried had pulled pork (Torta al Pastor), chicken (Chicken Torta), and steak (Steak & Cheese Torta). Almost everything we ate had avocado in it and I’m a huge fan of avocados.
By the end of the meal, we were so full we could barely breathe. Churros were served for dessert alongside caramel flavoured goat milk whipped cream. It was amazing. Everything was amazing. I highly recommend checking out Fonda Lola if you like Mexican food.
