Adam and I are huge foodies, so when Paramount Fine Foods Scarborough invited us to try some of their new menu items in celebration of Ramadan, we couldn’t say no. Ramadan is a month of prayer, fasting, charity-giving, and self-accountability. Although it’s a Muslim holiday, it’s also a joyous occasion for people of all cultures and backgrounds.
Paramount was actually really easy to find. From Don Mills Station, we took the 190 express bus and it was only one stop. We expected it to be a way longer commute from downtown.
Here’s a closer look at their new menu items, some of which we got to try.
The Yalla special was amazing. It’s basically a Middle Eastern poutine with chicken shawarma, garlic, and tahini sauce.
I really loved the breads at Paramount. These pillowy breads were tasty and looked really cute. I actually got a hilarious Snapchat of Adam biting into the pillowy bread. The bread on the shawarma wrap was good as well.
The Mezza plate has Hummas (hummus), Tabbouleh, and Mautaball (which I think is also called baba ghanoush). They were all super delicious. The Mautaball was definitely my and Adam’s favourite –we loved the pomegranate seeds.
Pictured above is the hummus with some chick peas.
The beef shawarma wrap was Adam’s favourite dish. The beef was cooked to perfection and it was absolutely delicious.
We took the baklava home for dessert and it was really good. Adam ate most of it that night because he loved it so much. Paramount Scarborough makes the best Middle Eastern food I’ve ever tasted, and we’re so glad we got to try it. Thank you Paramount Scarborough for having us!
