Neither Adam or I are great dancers. In fact, I try to avoid dancing in every social situation where dancing is involved. I was a bit hesitant to try salsa dancing, but we thought it’d be interesting to try something new. So, we braved it out and went on the TD Salsa in Toronto Cruise Night with Mariposa Cruises.
The bartender insisted we try the mojitos, so we did. They were really good.
There were tons of appetizers as well as multiple food stations. Every time a food station opened up, we stood close-by so we were the first ones to get our hands on the food. It was all delicious.
The front of the boat was our favourite spot. We always had a view of the skyline and we almost always had the space to ourselves because everyone else preferred standing on the top deck. Apparently people did the Jack-and-Rose thing on this part of the boat before, so one of the crew members always had to supervise it.
We had a great view of the sunset over the skyline and took some pretty nice photos in front of it.
The dish we were most looking forward to all night were the churros, which were super delicious. The fruits were also very fresh and sweet.
After dinner came the bacha cha lessons. I’m terrible at following directions (as I discovered during a pole dancing class I took in Hong Kong) and I couldn’t follow along at all. We ended up watching the lesson from the sidelines, and we still enjoyed watching people dance and have fun. Salsa lessons came later, but we decided to eat more dessert and drink coffee and tea instead.
It was a perfect and romantic night, and Adam and I had so much fun. Mariposa Cruises is the perfect place for a date or girls’ night out. They have a bunch of cruises happening all summer, including their Sip & Sail cocktail cruises which are only $20 a person.
The Salsa in Toronto cruise only happens once every summer during the festival, so our boat was packed with couples and friends out to have a good time. I do wish I made more of an effort to learn during the dance lessons, but perhaps I will do so next year.
