I went to my first VIB Rouge “event” at Sephora this past weekend, and I picked up a bunch of new things to try, including some holiday gift sets. I had originally planned on picking up Bite Beauty’s “The Perfect Bite Set” from the holiday collection, but the lipsticks were so tiny and I didn’t think it was worth it.
Within minutes of arriving at the event, I knocked over half the things on the holiday shelf while putting back the Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio, which was extremely embarrassing especially since only one girl bothered to help me clean up. I also spilled sugar all over the place on the refreshments table while attempting to make myself a coffee. Besides all this, I had a really great time. The Sephora store at Yonge and Eglinton is gorgeous.

I ended up picking up the Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio and the YSL Lips Discovery Set.
Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Trio ($49) (x)
I had to pick this up because I love all of the Naked eyeshadow palettes. The trio comes in shades Pyrite, Oasis, and Twilight, all of which are super pretty.
As you can see in the swatches above, Pyrite is a shimmery gold, Oasis a shimmery silvery-nude, and Twilight a shimmery rose-gold. None of these really showed up on my face at all, so I didn’t end up keeping it.
Yves Saint Laurent Lips Discovery Set ($112)
For one of my recent birthdays (I can’t remember exactly which year), I gifted myself a YSL lipstick, but ended up returning it the next day because I’m not about that $40 lipstick life. This set comes down to about $28 each piece, and although that’s still pretty expensive, it’s a pretty great deal.
All these lipsticks and glosses feel so silky and smooth when you apply them on your lips, which is the one thing I love most about them (the other being the gorgeous packaging). None of these are as pigmented as I’d like them to be, so I’m probably going to stick to my MAC lipsticks instead. I ended up returning this set as well.
In order from top to bottom, the shades are:
- YSL Volupté Sheer Candy in #52 Rosy Coral (x)
- YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in #12 Corail Fauve (x)
- YSL Glossy Stain in #4 Succulent Pomegranate (x)
- YSL Rouge Pur Couture in #12 Corail Incandescent (x)
I wasn’t expecting the Volupté Sheer Candy to be so sheer, and because of that, it’s my least favourite product out of the entire set. The Rouge Volupté Shine in Corail Fauve is my favourite shade out of the entire set, and I’d definitely rock it during the fall and winter months.
I’m not a huge fan of lipgloss (I hate when my hair sticks to my lips), but the Glossy Stain actually didn’t feel that sticky. The Rouge Pur Couture is pretty bright, and it’s not something I’d wear very often. It’s pretty, but definitely not a fall/winter colour.
