I think a lot of people my age have this idea in their head that they want to find and be with the “perfect” person. Even if they have something good, they want something more. They want someone good looking, smart, generous, caring, adventurous, and every other good quality you can think of. The reality is that no one like that exists – there’s no such thing as the perfect person.
I’m lucky to have already found the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I know I’m young and I know things change and people change, but hear me out. My boyfriend and I both love and care about each other and have plans for our future together. Neither of us is perfect, but we accept each other’s faults and imperfections along with all our good qualities. We work out our problems no matter how frustrating it gets, because at the end of the day, our ultimate goal is to make each other happy.

I annoy my boyfriend all the time with questions such as, “what if you meet a prettier girl who’s smarter and funnier than me?” He always reassures me. The truth is, there will always be someone better looking or smarter or funnier than you. Just like how there’ll always be someone better looking or smarter or funnier than your significant other. Either way, it doesn’t really matter, because the person you’re with is with you because they love you and all your qualities.
Find someone who makes you happy, treats you better than you could ever imagine, and loves you for who you are. As corny as this may sound, it’s not the perfect person you should be searching for – it’s the person that’s perfect for you.
