I am an absolute mess when it comes to curling my hair. In fact, anything to do with hairstyling is just a no-no for me. Braids? Can’t do. Buns? Can’t do them properly. I’m just the worst when it comes to maintaining my hair, which is why I never do anything to it. I’ve only ever tried using regular hair curlers, and none of them have ever worked for me. I’ve watched a gazillion hair tutorials, but I still can never use curlers properly!
Irresistible Me sent me this Moonstone Automatic Hair Curler and it looked pretty interesting, so I thought I’d try my luck with it. This curler is perfect for those of us who just can’t work with regular hair curlers. It’s super simple to use! All you have to do is take an inch of hair, put it through the curler, hold it down, and let it do the rest of the work. You can adjust the temperature, timer settings, and curl direction to your needs or liking. There’s a steam option on it as well, but it’s optional.
I got my hair caught inside the curler a few times (pretty painful) because I had my hair all over the place, but I got the hang of it after some practice. This is actually my first time curling a full head of hair – so please don’t be too harsh! I combed it out for the photo because it looked a lot weirder before. Here are some before and after photos (sorry for the awkward bump in my hair – I slept on it weird haha):
I decided to tie it all up in a ponytail and it looked a lot better. I’m definitely going to have to keep practicing to curl my hair with the Moonstone curler, and I’ll be tying it up until it looks decent enough to not have to haha. I’m just glad that the curler does all the tedious work for me! I highly recommend it for anyone else who sucks at curling their hair and just wants simple, low-maintenance curls.
I also practiced shooting in raw and manual for the feature photo and photo below, which was one of my goals for 2017! I have no idea if I’m doing it properly but the photos don’t look as grainy as the other practice shots I took, which I’m happy about. Thanks for reading, friends! I’d love if you could follow me on Bloglovin. Until next time!
