I couldn’t believe when I got invited to the RUDSAK show for FashionCAN. It was going to be my first ever fashion show, so I made sure to research everything I needed to know ahead of time. The first thing I looked up was what to wear.
One article I read said to dress casually because the models were the ones who were supposed to wear the flashy outfits. I decided to go with a white tank blouse, camel wool coat, leather leggings, and black booties. Not the plainest of outfits, but not as dressed up as other people were at the show… I felt so underdressed!
Adam was supposed to be my guest, but something came up and I ended up having to go alone. I was absolutely terrified, but I’d been looking forward to the event so much that I decided to brave it out on my own.
I arrived at Yorkdale exactly at 8:30 PM, half an hour before the show, and was able to get a seat… Right behind Justine Iaboni of Jetset Justine and Alexander Liang. As if I didn’t have enough to be intimidated about! The people sitting around me were all with friends and people kept coming to say hi to Justine and Alexander, so it was pretty scary being alone.
On a normal day I would have been too frightened to go to an event like this by myself, but I’m proud of myself for going out of my comfort zone.
The RUDSAK show was amazing and I loved every single minute of it. I’m a total leather fiend, so most of the pieces were right up my alley! I actually walked by the store on Queen Street this past weekend and saw a beautiful baby pink moto jacket that wasn’t in the show.
I’d never been to or watched any fashion shows before, and I didn’t expect the show to only be 10 minutes long. Yorkdale is a half hour commute from where I live, so it was a bit of a trek, but I’d say it was definitely worth going to the show. It was such a fun experience, despite going alone!
Have you ever been to a fashion show? What was your experience like?
