I hope you all had a wonderful St. Paddy’s weekend! I didn’t celebrate, but I did get pretty lucky this weekend on the Nike Air Max bus.
I honestly don’t know much of anything about sneakers, but according to the Nike website, they re-released a bunch of retro and remixed Air Max sneakers along with exclusive events across Toronto in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 1. The Nike Air Max bus featured a mini exhibition featuring the re-released sneakers as well as a gumball vending machine with prizes.
You could win one of three things from the vending machine: a pin, a ticket to the Sneakeasy event in Toronto, or a chance to purchase a specific pair of shoes from the exhibition according to the number on your winning ticket.
Somehow I ended up winning the chance to buy Nike Air Max 1 “Bonsai”. As soon as I pulled the toy capsule out of the vending machine, everyone on the bus started freaking out in excitement. All the photographers and people working on the bus started taking photos of me and asking me to open the capsule, unwrap the ticket, pose with the ticket… You get the picture.
I didn’t really know what was going on, and I was so embarrassed! Everyone could tell because they joked about the prize really being for Adam (#LifeOfASneakerheadGirlfriend). Adam was pretty happy he decided to go first because he would’ve won and he would’ve had to go through awkwardly posing for all the photos haha. Despite all the craziness, it was definitely a fun time, and it would have been even if we had both only won pins!I wish I could show you guys all the embarrassing photos, but they’re not online yet. I’ll definitely share them on social media if and when they’re posted!
The bus will be at various locations in Toronto this entire week. We got there about 10 minutes before the bus opened and we still had to wait an hour in line, so I highly recommend going even earlier to beat it. For more information, visit Nike’s website.
