2017 Year in Review

2017 Year in Review

2017 was an incredible year. I can honestly say that I am the happiest I have ever been in my entire life. I have a wonderful, supportive family, boyfriend, and friends who are always there for me no matter what, and I feel like I have my life pretty much figured out now.

In the beginning of the year, I was anxious and depressed. I was surrounded by negativity, and it dug me deeper and deeper into my own pool of pessimism. Graduation was one of the best days of my life; I graduated from my dream school with distinction, and made myself and my family proud. Following graduation, I saw all my peers getting cool jobs and internships, while I was sitting at home unable to find any work. I told everyone I was trying out the whole “full-time blogging” thing but the truth was that no one was calling me back.

Through the love and support of my parents, I picked myself up off the ground and stopped feeling sorry for myself. I truly believe that your attitude affects your circumstances, and I started to become more positive. I’m not always happy, but it’s safe to say that my days of negativity are over.

Now onto the fun part: my favourite parts of the year!

1. My Vancouver trip with my sister

I went to Vancouver with my little sister back in the spring, and it brought us a lot closer. We were only there for a weekend, but it was a lot of fun trying new restaurants and doing touristy things! I’ve been to Vancouver once before, and it’s somewhere I don’t mind frequenting because it’s gorgeous there and the food scene is amazing.

2. Graduation

I already mentioned this earlier, but here it is again! I studied Radio and Television Arts, now known as Media Production, and here’s a post all about my experience at Ryerson University.

3. My trip to Iceland with Adam

Adam and I went on our first trip together this summer, and it was such an amazing experience. Iceland was absolutely stunning, and it still feels like going there was just a dream! I wish we’d stayed two weeks instead of one, because it wasn’t long enough. We plan on going to Montreal and Switzerland next year, and I’m so excited!

4. Getting a full-time job

I met my employer Kelly (who just started her own blog!) through Monday Girl (a networking group for young female professionals in Toronto), and I’ve been so incredibly happy at my new job! I’ve always been all about waking up excited to do what you love, and that’s exactly how I feel every single day.

5. The people I’ve met & experiences I’ve had through blogging

I definitely took my blog a lot more seriously this year, and because of that, I’ve met so many awesome people and experienced so many cool opportunities! I’m so grateful to be able to do this ~professionally~.

There are probably more things that happened this year that made me really happy, but I can’t remember them right now lol. It’s been a great year!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read my blog. I have a lot more fun content and ideas coming up in 2018, and I can’t wait to show you all! Cheers and have a safe and happy new year!
