10 Simple Steps to Boost Your Self-Confidence

Self-confidence doesn’t come easy for everyone. It took me a long time to even feel confident in myself! Having low self-confidence can hold you back and prevent you from achieving things to the best of your ability. It’s so important to feel confident in yourself so you can be the best person you can be! Here are my tips on how to boost your self-confidence and rock at anything you do.

1. Dress well

True fact: when you’re confident about the way you’re dressed, you become more confident about yourself and the things that you’re doing. My grade 6 teacher always told us to dress nice on days we had tests!

2. Set goals for yourself

How do you want to improve yourself? Set goals, constantly remind yourself of them, and keep on working until you achieve them! Make sure to write your goals down somewhere you know you’ll regularly check. I recommend Apple’s Reminders app – I have examples of how I use it here.

3. Don’t compare yourself to others

Comparing is probably one of the worst things you can do to yourself. Before I got my full-time job, I felt bad about myself because everyone around me was getting cool jobs and I couldn’t find any job. Everyone is unique and grows at their own pace, and you shouldn’t be worried about what other people are doing. Focus on growing yourself!

4. Don’t worry about what other people think

The only opinions you should care about are yours and the people who care about you. You shouldn’t be bothered by the negative opinions of people who don’t give a damn about you. Let it go in one ear and out the other.

5. Challenge yourself

Face your fears and challenge yourself to do things. You can do anything you set your mind to if you work hard at it!

6. Think more positive thoughts

Push out those negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. It’s not the easiest thing to do and it will take time, but a positive mental state will help you feel more positive and confident about yourself.

7. Surround yourself with positive people

I truly believe you become the people you surround yourself with. This is why I say to surround yourself with people who lift you up and make you feel good about yourself!

8. Take pride in yourself

You are an awesome human being, and you should be proud of yourself and what you can do. Realize your potential. Know your best qualities and own them.

9. Don’t be ashamed of your mistakes

Every mistake you make is a lesson learned, and it takes you closer to the right thing, whatever that may be!

10. Know that you are always growing

You will grow and change throughout your entire life, and you can improve anything you want about yourself. Nobody is a perfect person – you have plenty of time to become the person you want to be!
