Hola friends! If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram Stories, you might’ve seen some of my stories from my trip with Ford Canada to New York City two weeks ago. It was so much fun and I’m so excited to share the deets about my little trip with you guys! Here’s everything I did during my short but sweet 24 hours in New York City!
We flew into New York early in the morning from Pearson, and checked in at the gorgeous Dream Downtown Hotel. We saw CeeLo Green walk into the hotel while we were checking in, and he was actually staying there! One of several celebrity sightings haha.
We went for lunch at the High Street on Hudson, which was near the hotel in Chelsea. It was such an adorable spot and the food was amazing. I’ll definitely be going back next time I’m in New York!
The Ford EcoSport is a crossover SUV that’s been in Europe for a number of years, but is coming to North America for the first time ever this spring. It’s a compact little car that’s spacious yet small enough to easily cruise around the city (and parallel park without difficulty!)
The FordHub is a hub of fun, interactive experiences showcasing Ford’s meaning behind the saying “Go Further”, as well as the future of transportation. There are a ton of cool activities like a racing game (where you can face off a friend!) and several selfie stations like the one below. If you’re in NYC or are planning on visiting, I’d definitely recommend checking out the FordHub for a little fun!
There was a section with three walls covered in miniature Ford cars, paired alongside colour-changing lights with motion sensors. The lights have the same technology as the technology used in newer cars to detect if there’s a person or car close-by. Pretty awesome!
After all the fun at the FordHub, we paid a visit to this gorgeous restaurant called While We Were Young. It’s super pink and super pretty.
We then went to the Life Hack Academy Live to see the Ford EcoSport in person, and to learn about some useful life hacks. There were a variety of aesthetically-pleasing stations dedicated to different topics, like photography, fitness, and travel. There was a lot to see, and it was absolutely packed inside the event!
My favourite life hack station was by Tia Mowry (remember the show The Game?!) and Deb Perelman from Smitten Kitchen, and it was all about meal prep life hacks. The pancake mix hack blew my mind – make pancake mix the night before, store it in an empty bottle, and squeeze it out onto the pan the next morning for perfectly-shaped pancakes!
The last station was by the exit, and it was for people to write down what they wanted to accomplish in 2018. I wrote that I wanted to not be afraid to try new things this year. I’m doing a little at a time so far, but I’m slowly breaking out of my comfort zone in a variety of ways.
We went for a late dinner at The Stanton Social after the Life Hacks Academy Live, and it was so, so, so good. The restaurant is known for their shareable tapas, and most of them were absolutely delicious!
It was such a fun day full of activities, but I totally knocked out as soon as I got back to my hotel room. In the morning, we went for brunch at Citizens of Chelsea, which was the cutest place! I probably took more photos here than anywhere else during our trip haha.
We headed straight for the airport right afterwards and flew back home to Toronto. I was so sad we had to leave so soon! On the bright side, I’ll be hitting the road this spring with the new 2018 Ford EcoSport and I can’t wait to take you guys along with me. Be sure to keep up with me on Instagram @jessicailam if you’re not already!
Thank you so much to Ford Canada for such an amazing opportunity!
