10 Simple Steps to Boost Your Self-Confidence

Self-confidence doesn’t come easy for everyone, but today I’ll be sharing some tips on how to boost your self-confidence.

It’s taken me a long time to feel any bit of confident in myself, and I still struggle with feelings of self-doubt here and there.

Having low self-confidence can hold you back and prevent you from achieving things to the best of your ability.

It’s so important to feel confident in yourself so you can be the best person you can be!

Here are my tips on how to boost your self-confidence and rock at anything you do.

Ways to boost your self-confidence

1. Dress your best

True fact: when you’re confident about the way you look, you become more confident about yourself and whatever you’re doing.

Put the daily effort into making sure you always look your best.

Whether it’s throwing on some red lipstick or wearing your favourite jacket, make yourself look how you want yourself to feel!

2. Set goals for yourself

What are you least confident about?

How do you want to improve yourself?

Set goals, constantly remind yourself of them, and keep on working until you achieve them!

Make sure to write your goals down somewhere you know you’ll regularly check.

You can physically write your goals into a notebook, or you can keep track of it digitally.

I personally use Apple’s Reminders app, and I have examples of how I use it in my blog post on how to keep your life organized.

3. Don’t compare yourself to others

Comparing yourself to other people is probably one of the worst things you can do to your mental health.

Before I got my full-time job, I felt bad about myself because everyone around me was getting cool jobs and I couldn’t find any opportunities.

I felt like I wasn’t as smart or talented as the people I graduated with.

The truth is, everyone is unique and grows at their own pace.

You shouldn’t be worried about what other people are doing – just focus on growing yourself!

Sometimes social media can lead you to play the comparison game, so don’t be afraid to unplug and detox for a little while.

Remember: Instagram is just a highlight reel, and it’s not all reality.

4. Don’t worry about what other people think

The only opinions you should care about are yours and the people who care about you.

You shouldn’t be bothered by the negative opinions of people who don’t give a damn about you.

Let it go in one ear and out the other.

It can be hard not to get bothered by what people say, but it takes practice.

5. Challenge yourself

Face your fears and challenge yourself to do things outside of your comfort zone.

You can do almost anything you set your mind to if you work hard at it.

Although most things you do won’t be perfect on the first try, if you keep working at it, you’ll constantly improve and get better!

Work hard for yourself and achieve things that make you feel successful.

6. Think more positive thoughts

Push out those negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones.

It’s not the easiest thing to do and it will take time, but a positive mental state will help you feel more positive and confident about yourself.

If you catch yourself thinking negatively, just remember that there’s no use in having these thoughts.

I believe in the law of attraction, and positivity only attracts more positivity!

7. Surround yourself with positive people

I truly believe you become the people you surround yourself with.

This is why I say to surround yourself with people who lift you up and make you feel good about yourself!

If you’re constantly around people who put you down or talk behind other people’s backs, you’ll end up doing the same or feeling shitty from being around all the bad energy.

Try to find yourself a good circle of people who genuinely care about you and only want the best for you.

8. Don’t be ashamed of your mistakes

Every mistake you make is a lesson learned, and it takes you closer to the right thing, whatever that may be.

There’s no one in the universe that is perfect.

Literally every human being on this planet makes mistakes in one way or another!

Sometimes you just have to make the wrong decisions before you find the right conclusion.

9. Take pride in the things you’re good at

You are an awesome human being, and you should be proud of yourself and what you can do.

Realize your potential, know your best qualities, and own what you’ve got.

You can’t be good at everything, but you’ve definitely got amazing qualities to be proud of.

10. Understand that you are always growing

You will continue to grow and change throughout your entire life.

It’s part of being human, as we go through different life experiences and engage in different relationships.

You can improve anything you want about yourself if you try hard enough.

Nobody is a perfect person, and you have plenty of time to become the person you want to be!

Maybe put together a bucket list of goals you want to achieve in your lifetime.

These were just a few of my tips on how to boost your self-confidence.

It obviously takes time for you to change your mindset, but you really have to practice and actually make the effort to think differently.

yes, totally love all these tips! although some of these are definitely easier said than done, but these are definitely goal I am aiming for this year <3 (as I do every year haha)

#3 is SO relevant. I hate to compare but sometimes you see people doing more or where you want to be at so it's discouraging. BUT just gotta remember that we're all at different stages in our life and go at different paces. Great post Jessica. :)
