Does anyone else hate making trips to the grocery store?
I live right across the street from one, but I still don’t like going.
I’m usually more of a stay-in-and-order-food delivery kind of girl…
However, truLOCAL recently sent me one of their boxes to try, and I was very excited about not having to make trips to the grocery store for awhile.
If you haven’t heard of truLOCAL, they deliver clean, locally-sourced meats right to your door.
And why wouldn’t you want to support local businesses and farms?

Monthly meat delivery with truLOCAL
truLOCAL is a Milton-based meat delivery service that ships across Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
You can get the box shipped to your house, apartment, office, gym, or even cottage!
They offer high-end, locally-sourced meats at decent prices.
All of their meats are 100% local, free run, antibiotic-free, with no added hormones.

How it works
- Choose between the small box ($125) or regular box ($249)
- Choose the delivery frequency (every 2 weeks, every 3 weeks, once a month, or every 6 weeks)
- Fill up your box by customizing it with meats of your choice
- Get it delivered!
Each meat product is worth a certain number of points, and you can fill up your box up to a maximum number depending on the box size.
For example, a package of bacon is 1 point, while three top sirloin steaks are 3 points.
The small box gives you up to 9 points and the regular box gives you up to 20.

How does truLOCAL’s meat stay cool?
Inside the truLOCAL box is a refrigerated cooler with dry ice, which keeps your meats frozen until you get home.
Be sure to wear oven mitts or use a towel when removing the dry ice!
Once you remove it, you’ll find all the glorious meats, packaged individually to easily store in your freezer.
My freezer is very tiny (you can see it in the feature image of this post), and everything in the small box I got fit perfectly inside.
You’ll also never have to worry about freezer burn with the premium vacuum-sealed packaging they use.

What I got inside my truLOCAL small box
I got the small box, and here’s what I chose.
1 package each of:
- Bacon
- Breakfast sausages
- Garlic sausages
- Ground chicken
- Lean ground beef
As well as:
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 10-12 boneless skinless chicken thighs
I received the box 9 days ago and we still have some breakfast sausages, the ground chicken, and the ground beef.
It’s safe to say that it will have lasted us about two weeks.
Adam and I eat a lot of meat (I pretty much never eat veggies lol), so how long it lasts depends on how often you cook and how often you eat meat.

Here’s a meal I made for Adam and I featuring the chicken breast with honey garlic sauce (absolutely delicious) and garlic sausage (even more delicious).
Fun fact: my meals are not usually this extravagant.
I used to cook just chicken breast for dinner…
I really enjoyed cooking this meal though, and I’ve been cooking more full meals since!
If you don’t like making trips to the grocery store or you’re too busy, I’d definitely recommend trying out truLOCAL.
