2-ingredient ice cream without needing an actual ice cream machine? Yes, it’s totally possible.
This simple 2-ingredient ice cream recipe is super easy, and you can whip it up in as little as 5 minutes!
All that takes time is the waiting, but you can get plenty done while the ice cream freezes 😉
Here’s how to make this delicious and easy 2-ingredient ice cream at home, as well as additional ingredients you can add to create different flavour combos!
How to make 2-ingredient no-churn ice cream
Ice cream is one of my fave desserts, and you can easily make it at home with just two simple ingredients: whipping cream and sweetened condensed milk!
Whipping cream gives it the familiar ice cream texture, and condensed milk helps to sweeten it while keeping it creamy.
The whipping cream can’t be substituted, as the heavy fat content is what keeps the ice cream from freezing completely solid.
As for tools, you’ll want an electric whisk or stand mixer, or you can get an arm workout with a regular whisk.
For storage, I simply freeze the ice cream in Rubbermaid containers because they’re reusable and easy to store.
Ingredients
- ½ cup whipping cream
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
Recipe (1 serving)
- Whip whipping cream in a standing mixer until it forms stiff peaks.
- Mix in sweetened condensed milk and continue whipping until blended.
- Freeze in a freezer-safe container for at least 6 hours or overnight before serving.
3-ingredient ice cream recipes to try
The possibilities of flavours for this homemade ice cream are endless, and you can really add any additional ingredients to make whatever flavours you want.
Here are simple 3-ingredient ice creams you can whip up at home yourself!
Condensed milk (vanilla) ice cream
All condensed milk really is is milk and sugar.
Sweetened condensed milk kind of has a vanilla flavour to it, and it’s very sweet.
In Chinese culture, it’s common to slather condensed milk on toast or dip deep fried buns in condensed milk.
So, you can really just use whipping cream and sweetened condensed milk together to make a simple 2-ingredient condensed milk ice cream!
If you want to add a hint of actual vanilla, you can add a pinch of vanilla extract.
Otherwise, it’s great as is!

Chocolate ice cream
You can’t go wrong with a classic chocolate ice cream flavour.
Simply sift in cocoa powder (to avoid clumps) after you’ve added in the condensed milk!
You can also get creative and make your own Neapolitan ice cream – simply wait for each ice cream flavour to freeze before making the next flavour, then pour it on top!
Neapolitan ice cream is made up of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, and I’ll share the strawberry ice cream recipe next.

Strawberry ice cream
For strawberry ice cream, simply halve the amount of condensed milk and supplement it with strawberry syrup (AKA 2 tablespoons of each).
You can either use a store-bought strawberry syrup or make your own strawberry simple syrup at home!
We try to be as low-waste in the kitchen as possible, and we’ve found that strawberry tops are great for making strawberry simple syrup – it leaves more strawberries for us to eat!
Since we had fresh strawberries and graham cracker crumbs on hand, we decided to make it into a strawberry shortcake ice cream.
If you don’t have either, the strawberry ice cream on its own is amazing as well!

Coffee ice cream
Coffee is one of my favourite ice cream flavours, and you can easily make it yourself at home.
Simply add in 1 tablespoon of instant coffee after you’ve whipped in the sweetened condensed milk!
You can use whatever instant coffee brand you like – I use Nescafé.
If you’re looking to do more kitchen experiments, you can try making dalgona whipped coffee with the instant coffee!

Matcha ice cream
I love matcha green tea everything, and it tastes great in ice cream.
Like the instant coffee, just add in 1 tablespoon of matcha powder after the sweetened condensed milk.
Don’t forget to sift your matcha so it doesn’t turn into bitter clumps in the ice cream!

Cookies & cream ice cream
Cookies and cream is a simple but delicious ice cream flavour.
All you’ve got to do is toss in ½ cup crushed Oreos (about 6) into your ice cream mixture, and voila!
Crush them by hand or use a food processor – I use my Vitamix.
Feel free to mix it up by using one of the flavoured Oreos, or just go classic with the regular Oreos.

Mint chocolate ice cream
I’m not crazy about mint chocolate chip ice cream, but it’s Adam’s favourite flavour, so of course I had to make it for him.
I’m cheating a little bit as the chocolate chips would make this 4 ingredients, but let’s just call them optional 😛
If you’re not into chocolate, you can totally skip the chocolate chips anyways!
Simply add in 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract after you’ve added the sweetened condensed milk, and then as many chocolate chips as you want.
Peppermint extract is clear, so if you want the minty green colour, you’ll have to add in green food colouring as well (yes, I’m aware that’s a 5th ingredient).
