We had some of the best coffee we’ve ever had while in New Zealand, and we visited some really amazing coffee shops while in Auckland.
We were honestly so surprised with how much we loved Auckland!
From the city life, to the beautiful nature, to of course, the coffee, Auckland has so much to offer.
A lot of the coffee shops I’ll be mentioning are in the Auckland CBD (Central Business District), which is the city centre.
Here are some of the absolute best coffee shops you need to visit during a visit to Auckland!

Best coffee shops in Auckland
Rumours Coffee
This minimalist coffee shop serves up classic espresso drinks alongside more unique drinks.
The Rumours Iced White with Demerara Syrup is one of the absolute best drinks I’ve ever tasted, and I’m still dreaming about it to this day.
They also have other interesting drinks, like their Rumours Espresso Tiramisu and Apple Cinnamon Oat Foam.
There’s also minimal seating if you’re looking to enjoy your coffee indoors!
We mostly got takeaway coffee to walk around with during our trip, and we realized that’s probably more of a Canadian/American thing.
Rumours is also a slightly newer spot – they opened in mid-2022!

Kompass Coffee
You’ll find espresso and tea-based drinks at this Korean-inspired coffee shop in Auckland.
Kompass also offers up freshly-baked treats from local bakers, as well as their own handmade canelé.
We got the Iced Matcha Latte and Black Sesame Einspanner, and both were amaze.
They’ve got a decent amount of seating inside as well as patio seating out front, and pretty much all of the seats were taken up when we visited!

Millers Coffee
Miller’s has been roasting up Italian-style coffee since the ’80s, and their blend has actually remained the same since they began back in 1988.
You can enjoy their exceptional coffee in their rustic, vintage-inspired space.
You’ve also gotta try their decadent handmade chocolates, some of which are even made with their own coffee!

BESPOKE coffee specialist
Stop into this hidden gem in Auckland for their amazing coffee and small menu of all-day breakfast options.
From lattes to cappuccinos, they serve up really delicious, well-made coffee.
The space is very little, but they do have a small amount of indoor and outdoor seating for you to chill out and enjoy a brew.
And even though their coffee shop is tiny, they’ve made the space really beautiful and aesthetically-pleasing!

Allpress Roastery Auckland
This popular New Zealand roastery has been roasting specialty coffee for over three decades, and you’ll find their coffee at cafés all around the world!
They also have their very own café in Auckland, where you can sip on brews and indulge in sandwiches and small bites.
You’ll of course also find their beans in quite a few coffee shops around Auckland!

Remedy Coffee
Pop into this warm, homey café for good coffee and good food.
Remedy’s specialty is single-origin coffee sourced from local roasters, and you can enjoy it as filter coffee or cold brew.
For eats, you’ll find a selection of bagel options alongside other breakfast and lunch bites, like their Bacon & Egg Roll and Kimcheese Toastie.
There is limited seating inside the café and it actually gets quite busy, so arrive early or order takeaway!

Chuffed
This adorable café has the most stunning back patio, and they’re most well-known for their delicious brunch.
Alongside their tasty food, they’ve also got fantastic coffee.
They’ve got all your typical espresso fixings, from americanos to cappuccinos.
If you’re in the mood for brunch, you’ll find delicious dishes like their Smashed Avo, Egg Toulouse, and Chilli Beans with Baked Egg.

All of the coffee shops we visited in Auckland had non-dairy milk options, which was really nice (as someone who’s lactose-intolerant).
Another interesting thing we noticed was that quite a few places offered iced lattes… with ice cream!
We didn’t end up trying any during our visit, though. Definitely something we’ll try on our next visit to Auckland!
