20 Best Shows on Disney Plus Canada

Searching for the best shows on Disney Plus Canada to binge-watch this April 2024?

I’m a lil’ late to the Disney+ game, but they’ve been adding a lot of really great shows that made me finally want to subscribe.

It seemed like it was mostly for kids when it first came out, but there are plenty of shows and movies for adults!

Whether you’re into superhero shows or Korean dramas, there are plenty of great series to watch on Disney+.

These are some of the best shows to watch on Disney+ Canada, specifically for adults!

How does Disney+ work?

Disney+ operates pretty much like every other major streaming platform, and you can pay either monthly or annually.

Here’s how much a Disney Plus Canada subscription costs:

  • $11.99 per month ($13.55 with tax in Ontario)
  • $119.99 per year ($135.59 with tax in Ontario)

If you pay for the annual subscription, you get two months free, which I always do if it’s an option!

Unfortunately, Disney+ Canada doesn’t offer a free trial, but they periodically have random discounted offers.

They offered a $0.99 one-month subscription to promote the new Shang-Chi movie when it came out, which I took advantage of!

The Dropout

The Dropout is based on the real story of Elizabeth Holmes and the rise and fall of her biotech company, Theranos.

You’ve probably heard of the story in some way or another, but Theranos basically claimed that they could complete a full range of blood tests with just a single drop of blood.

Amanda Seyfried and Dylan Minnette both star in The Dropout!

Revenge of Others

Ok Chan-mi doesn’t believe her twin brother has committed suicide, and she transfers to his high school to find his killer.

She meets Ji Soo-heon, and they work together to get revenge against perpetrators.

It took me until the second episode to fully get into the show, and it’s really good.

Lomon from All of Us Are Dead on Netflix also stars in Revenge of Others!

Boy Meets World

My family absolutely adored Boy Meets World growing up, and it’s super nostalgic seeing it on Disney+.

Cory Matthews and his friends juggle all things life, and the show follows them from middle school to college.

There’s also a spinoff called Girl Meets World, which features some of the original cast members!

8 Simple Rules

8 Simple Rules was another one of my family’s favourite shows growing up, and I can’t believe it was actually only two seasons!

It’s all about the Hennessy parents raising their three teenage kids, and it ain’t easy.

Kaley Cuoco got her start here before she was on the Big Bang Theory (which you can stream on Crave)!

John Ritter, the actor who plays the father, passed away in real life, and they actually wrote it into the series.

2 seasons on Disney+ Canada

Abbott Elementary

This hilarious workplace comedy follows a group of passionate teachers, and a slightly tone-dead principal, as they’re determined to help their students succeed in life.

The mockumentary-style show also stars Tyler James Williams from Everybody Hates Chris!

Don’t Trust the B—- In Apartment 23

June’s dreams of moving to Manhattan for her dream job and her perfect apartment are ruined when the company that hires her shuts down.

Luckily, she manages to find a job at a coffee shop and a roommate, Chloe.

June’s small town values and Chloe’s party girl ways clash, but they form an unlikely friendship.

Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad and Jessica Jones) stars in the series, and James Van Der Beek stars as himself!

The Simpsons

Join the iconic Simpson family — Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie — on their timeless misadventures in the typical American town of Springfield.

This sharp-witted animated sitcom has been a comedy staple since 1989, and the show is still going on now!

You can watch all 35 seasons of this beloved series on Disney+ Canada.

Bob’s Burgers

This fun adult animated series is all about the wacky Belcher family and their burger restaurant that’s constantly on the verge of going out of business.

Bob’s Burgers has been running for 13 seasons, and you can watch all of it on Disney+ Canada!

You can also watch the new Bob’s Burgers Movie on Disney+!

Once Upon a Time

If you love all things fairytales, you’ll definitely want to watch Once Upon a Time.

Emma Swan is comfortable in her life as a bail bonds collector, when the child she gave up a decade earlier suddenly shows up at her door, and tries to convince her that her parents are Snow White and Prince Charming.

It tells the story of a world where fairytales and reality collide, and it’s so fun seeing fairytale characters we grew up watching in Disney movies!

Best action shows on Disney+ Canada

The Punisher

After his wife and children are killed, Frank Castle becomes The Punisher, a vigilante who takes justice into his own hands.

The show is very brutal and violent, so it’s definitely not for the faint of heart!

I’ve never really been into comic books or superheroes, but The Punisher is actually an amazing show.

It stars Jon Bernthal and Ben Barnes, both of which are incredible actors!

2 seasons on Disney+ Canada

Daredevil

Blinded as a young boy, Matt Murdock fights injustice by day as a lawyer and by night as Daredevil.

Daredevil is in the same universe as The Punisher, and Jon Bernthal even stars in it!

Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Jessica in True Blood (available on Crave), also stars in Daredevil.

3 seasons on Disney+ Canada

24

Kiefer Sutherland stars as counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer, and every episode covers a single day in Bauer’s life as he deals with everything from assassination attempts to nuclear attacks.

This iconic action drama ran for 9 seasons from 2001 to 2010.

There’s also a spinoff series called 24: Legacy, which is about ex-army sergeant Eric Carter!

Lost

A plane flying between Sydney and Los Angeles crashes onto a mysterious tropical island, and the survivors must work together to stay alive.

Ian Somerhalder and Daniel Dae Kim both star in Lost!

If you enjoy Lost, you might also enjoy Yellowjackets on Crave!

Mr. Mercedes

A retired detective sets out on a dangerous crusade when he starts getting tormented by a local serial killer.

If you’re into crime thrillers, you’ll definitely enjoy this series, and there are 3 seasons on Disney+ Canada.

Mr. Mercedes is actually based on a trilogy by Stephen King!

Best horror shows on Disney+ Canada

American Horror Story

I was literally obsessed with American Horror Story when it first came out, and I think that was when my family still had cable.

I stopped watching after season 3 because they weren’t on any streaming platforms, and I’m so happy that it’s available to stream on Disney+ Canada!

It’s an anthology horror series set in totally different settings each season, including a haunted house, asylum, and school for witches.

The cool thing about AHS is that they also use a lot of the same actors to play different roles in each season!

There’s also a spinoff on Disney+ called American Horror Stories, with a different story each episode!

9 seasons on Disney+ Canada

The Strain

Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, head of the CDC’s Canary Team, is called upon to investigate when a plane lands in New York City full of dead passengers.

They discover a viral outbreak that has similarities to an ancient strain of vampirism.

Guillermo del Toro is one of the show’s creators and writers!

4 seasons on Disney+ Canada

Gannibal

A city police officer is posted to a small Japanese mountain village, where he and his young family hope to have a fresh new start.

As strange events occur, he realizes there’s something deeply wrong with the village and the people who live there.

As you can probably tell by the show’s name, it’s about cannibals, but thankfully they don’t really show anything too gross.

It’s a pretty good mystery, and you’ll constantly be wondering what the heck is going on.

The only really annoying thing is that there’s not really an ending to the first season, and season 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, so we might just be left hanging!

Scream Queens

Queen bee Chanel Oberlin rules the Kappa House with an iron fist, and when the dean states that sorority pledging must be open to all students, all hell breaks loose.

Scream Queens is a hilarious horror comedy, and I loved seeing Emma Roberts play a similar role to her role in season 3 of American Horror Story!

Jamie Lee Curtis (the OG scream queen), Abigail Breslin, and Lea Michele also all star in the series.

Best reality shows on Disney+ Canada

Pink Lie

A group of young women and men move into the Pink House, each carrying a secret about themselves, with the hopes of finding a partner who truly sees them for who they are.

Adam and I are kinda addicted to watching Asian dating shows, and Pink Lie is one of the most entertaining ones we’ve seen.

The participants are a little more ~spicy~ and less reserved than on other dating shows, and the secrets make it super interesting!

If you like this concept, there’s a similar Korean dating show called Secret Man Secret Woman, though we found Pink Lie more entertaining.

Tengoku Daimakyō

If you love apocalyptic series, you’ll definitely want to check out Tengoku Daimakyō.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan terrorized by monsters, a group of children live in an isolated facility while a duo on the outside search for a place called Heaven.

It’s quite dark and there are some triggering scenes, so it’s definitely not for everyone.
