Is Crave TV Canada worth it?
Pros of subscribing to Crave

The fantastic selection of blockbuster movies
One of my favourite things about Crave is their selection of the newest blockbuster hits like The Matrix Resurrections and The Batman.
Whether you’re into comedies or horrors, they have all kinds of big movies that come to the platform pretty soon after being in theatres.
Both Netflix and Prime Video mostly have their own original movies alongside older movies, and they seem to get a lot of blockbuster movies after they’ve already been on Crave.
Access to HBO shows
HBO is probably one of my favourite TV networks, and they make a lot of incredible shows.
You can watch all kinds of popular HBO shows like Game of Thrones, Big Little Lies, The White Lotus, all on Crave!

Watch the Francophone versions of shows and movies
Whether you’re a French-speaking person or someone who’s looking to improve their French-speaking skills, you can actually watch a lot of shows and movies on Crave in French!
Go to crave.ca/en to watch everything in English or crave.ca/fr to watch everything en Français.
You can get a 7-day free trial of Crave
Looking to test out Crave to see if you’ll actually get use out of your subscription?
You can get a 7-day free trial to peep out your favourite shows and see if you like it or not!
If there’s just one specific show you’re looking to watch, you can also binge-watch it during the free trial lol.

You get 2 months free if you pay for the annual plan
If there’s a discount for paying annually on anything, I almost always do it.
If I know I’m going to stay subscribed to a service, why wouldn’t I choose to save money?!
Netflix doesn’t give you the option to pay annually, so it’s definitely a plus that Crave offers it with a discounted price.
They also occasionally offer other discounts and deals for the annual plan.
Cons of subscribing to Crave

Crave is expensive
Crave is more expensive than other streaming services, but I think it’s definitely worth it for the blockbuster movies and HBO and Showtime series.
It’s $19.99 a month for the Crave Total plan that allows the best quality streaming, downloads, and multiple devices.
There’s also the Crave Mobile plan for $9.99 a month, which offers good quality streaming, no downloads, and only 1 device.
The Crave Mobile plan is pretty much just for solo people who watch everything on their phones, and it offers good quality streaming with no downloads.
The Crave Total plan allows multiple users, and it offers the best quality streaming and offline downloads.

You can only register up to 5 devices
With the Crave Total plan, you can only register up to 5 devices, which isn’t enough if you’re a family with multiple devices each.
Also, only 4 people can watch at the same time on different devices.
You have to unregister devices in order to register new ones, and you can only register up to 10 devices within a month before you have to wait until the next month.
I share a plan with my family, and we have to unregister and register to watch on our TVs, laptops, tablets, and phones, which is kind of annoying.
If you have the Crave Mobile plan, only 1 device can be registered, and you can only stream on their website or mobile app.

The interface isn’t as user-friendly as other streaming platforms
Honestly, the interface isn’t as attractive or user-friendly as Netflix, and I find it harder to find new things to watch on Crave.
I usually just navigate towards the “Just Added TV” or “Just Added Movies” sections on the app.
I wish there were more categories on the main page to sift through!
At the end of the day, it’s the content on the streaming platforms that matter, so it doesn’t bother me all that much.
Crave vs. Netflix vs. Amazon Prime Video

So which streaming service is more worth it: Crave, Netflix, or Prime Video?
At $9.99 a month for Netflix’s basic plan, you get to watch anything on the platform, a lot of which tends to be Netflix Originals or older movies.
Crave is a higher price at $19.99, but it has the latest Hollywood blockbusters (like Dune) and HBO shows (like Game of Thrones and Westworld).
Prime Video is automatically included with an Amazon Prime membership, which is $99 annually.
Prime is worth getting just for the free 2-day shipping on its own, so Prime Video is a definite perk with no extra fees (unless you add additional channels).
They’re also coming out with a lot of Amazon Original shows and movies on Prime Video, which is cool!
I personally have all three streaming services as I love them all in their own ways, but it all depends on the types of shows and movies you like to watch.

To sum it all up, here are the pros and cons of subscribing to Crave.

Very useful! But does all this apply to the Crave App? Or just to Crave with a Bell TV subscription like Fibe or Satellite or whatever. Thanks
@Dennis, no need to be with bell ,as long as you got internet
Yea I Tried to “Watch” .. I was able to Subscribe but.. after that it was all downhill from there. i was not able to log in at all ! I tried to log in using my Laptop , MacBook Pro M1 2021 , Using my Iphone 11 pro max and tried to use my Playstation 5 .. none would let me log in. I really feel like i was ripped off ! paid for a subscription i cannot use because i cannot log in . Honestly , when able to i am going to cancel my subscription and never look at that app ever again !!
I would definitely reach out to them to see if they can fix it!
How can I tell what shows are available on HBO, through getting Crave. Are all HBO shows available on Crave, and, if not, is there a list showing the HBO shows that are available on Crave?
You can browse the HBO section upon signing up for Crave to see all the shows available. I believe Crave has a partnership with HBO Max, and a good selection (but not all) of their content is available on Crave. If you have any specific shows you’re interested in, I can check if they’re on Crave!
Hey Jessica,
You’ve mentioned that Netflix is $9.99/mth and compare it to $19.99 Crave.
I think a more accurate comparison is the mobile Crave ($9.99/mth) against the $9.99 Netflix. I’m paying $20.99/mth for Netflix and think that’s a closer comparison to Crave Total ($19.99).
I’ve been looking for another streaming service to replace Netflix. It seems like Crave might be a good choice. Thanks for the info!
