Comedy drama movies on Crave
Legally Blonde (2001 & 2003)
If you’re in need of some girl boss inspo, Legally Blonde is the movie to watch.
After Elle’s boyfriend breaks up with her to start a new life with a new girl and as a Harvard law student, Elle enrols into the same school and shows him who’s boss.
What, like it’s hard?
Even though I’ve watched Legally Blonde a gazillion times, I had no idea it was actually based on a true story.
It’s based on novelist Amanda Brown’s experiences at Stanford Law School!

Eighth Grade (2018)
Kayla is a shy and introverted eighth grader who posts videos about self-confidence online.
The coming-of-age movie was written and directed by Bo Burnham, a comedian who you might recognize from YouTube!
He casted actual eighth graders for the film, and he actually found the lead actress on YouTube while researching about teenagers for the film.
Eight Grade is totally not something for kids to watch, even though it’s about kids.

Magic Mike (2012)
Experienced male stripper Mike shows the ropes to a 19-year-old he names the Kid.
Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, and Alex Pettyfer star in Magic Mike!
Fun fact: it’s not a true story, but it’s inspired by Channing Tatum’s former life as a male stripper.

Sex and the City: The Movie (2008)
While a lot of people didn’t love the Sex and the City movies, I loved that it was an extension of the show.
Though I did watch the movies before I watched the show!
Sex and the City: The Movie is set four years after the show, and it’s basically a continuation of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda’s lives.
You can watch the original show on Crave, as well as the new series, And Just Like That!
The new series is okay, but I might be saying that because I’m sad Kim Cattrall isn’t in it.

Romantic comedy movies on Crave
Bridesmaids (2011)
Bridesmaids is one of those classic comedies that never gets old.
Annie is asked by her best friend Lillian to be her maid of honour, but it all turns into a disaster when she gets into a feud with one of the other bridesmaids.
If you like this movie, you’ll also enjoy Wine Country, which you can watch on Netflix!

Father of the Bride (2022)
Father of the Bride is a super fun and wholesome rom-com about Cuban-American architect and father of the bride, Billy, and his family.
When Billy’s daughter comes home and announced she’s engaged, he panics.
I love that it’s centred around an immigrant family, and yes, it’s also a remake of the Steve Martin movie, which you can watch on Disney+ Canada!

Marry Me (2022)
Popstar Kat Valdez is about to get married on stage to the love of her life, but moments before, she finds out her fiancé has been cheating on her.
She has a meltdown on-stage and ends up marrying a random stranger in the crowd – a middle school math teacher and single dad.
Marry Me is totally unrealistic but still a very cute and light-hearted rom-com worth watching.
It also stars J-Lo, Owen Wilson, Maluma, and John Bradley (Sam from Game of Thrones, which you can watch on Crave)!

Love Actually (2003)
Love Actually is one of those classic holiday movies you just have to watch every holiday season.
Different couples in London deal with their relationships in different ways, and it shows how complicated love can be.
It’s similar to He’s Just Not That Into You, New Year’s Eve, and Valentine’s Day, except it’s the OG movie in this format!

Family comedy movies on Crave
Shrek (2001 & 2004)
Shrek is love, Shrek is life, amirite?
You can watch the first two movies of our loveable green ogre on Crave, where he meets his best buddy Donkey and Princess Fiona.
If you didn’t know, Mike Myers voices Shrek and Eddie Murphy voices Donkey!
2 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the first and second movies
Casper (1995)
After an afterlife therapist and his daughter move into a crumbling mansion to rid of wicked spirits, they meet a friendly ghost named Casper.
I absolutely adored Casper as a kid, and you can watch this super cute movie starring a very young Christina Ricci on Crave.

Space Jam (1996 & 2021)
You’ll definitely remember watching the original Space Jam if you were a 90’s baby.
After Michael Jordan retires from basketball, he’s abducted by the Looney Tunes group to help defeat a group of evil aliens in a game of basketball.
It’s a fun movie to watch even as an adult, and there’s even a modern remake with LeBron James!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Roald Dahl was my favourite author growing up – I read all of his books as a kid!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was definitely one of my favourites, and it tells the story of Charlie and a group of other children who win golden tickets to visit Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory.
A little Freddie Highmore (from Bates Motel) stars alongside Johnny Depp, who plays Willy Wonka.
Tim Burton also directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The 2005 movie is a remake, and I actually like the OG movie from the ’70s more!

The Bob’s Burgers Movie (2022)
Bob’s Burgers is a fun adult animated series all about the wacky Belcher family and their burger restaurant that’s constantly on the verge of going out of business.
In the movie, an enormous sinkhole appears right in front of the family restaurant, ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer.
Bob and Linda try to keep the business afloat while the kids try to solve a mystery that could save the restaurant.
You can also watch all 13 seasons of Bob’s Burgers on Disney+ Canada!

Action comedy movies on Crave
Free Guy (2021)
When a bank teller discovers he’s actually a background player in an open-world video game, he decides to become the hero of his own story.
Free Guy is a super fun action sci-fi movie, and it stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer (Eve in Killing Eve on Crave), Joe Keery (Steve in Stranger Things on Netflix), Dwayne Johnson, and John Krasinski.

Horror comedy movies on Crave

Scream franchise (1996, 1997, & 2000)
Scream is probably my all-time favourite horror franchise, and it’s actually somewhat of a comedy-horror.
The Scream franchise revolves around Sidney Prescott, who constantly gets chased by psychopaths in ghostface masks.
The first 3 movies are available to stream on Crave!
There’s also a Netflix series version of Scream, but it’s definitely not the same or as good as the films.

Jennifer’s Body (2009)
After a demon takes possession of her, popular and beautiful high school student Jennifer turns a hungry eye on guys who never stood a chance with her before.
While she satisfies her hunger for human flesh with the school’s male population, her nerdy friend, Needy, tries to put a stop to it.
Jennifer’s Body is an iconic horror comedy starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, and Adam Brody.

Assassination Nation (2018)
Four high school girls in Salem fight for their lives after a hacker exposes everyone in town’s secrets and sends the town into chaos.
The real action in Assassination Nation takes awhile, but it’s still a fun watch if you’re into horror comedies!

Beetlejuice (1988)
Beetlejuice honestly terrified me as a kid, but now I think it’s a fun classic movie.
When a deceased couple are unsuccessful in scaring away a family that’s moved into their old house, they seek the help of a bio-exorcist.
Tim Burton directed the movie, and Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Alec Baldwin all star in it!
