Looking for the best streaming services in Canada to find your next TV show or movie to binge-watch?
As a big entertainment buff, I spend a lot of my free time binge-watching the latest TV series and movies.
I actually went to film school here in Toronto with the intention of graduating and working as a film editor!
It turned out working in film wasn’t my passion, but I still love watching great movies and shows.
From Hollywood blockbusters to indie gems, you’ll find plenty of great things to watch on all of these streaming services in Canada.
Here are some of the best streaming services to subscribe to in Canada, no matter what kind of content you’re looking for!

Best streaming services in Canada

Netflix
Netflix is probably the streaming service you’re most familiar with, and they have a different selection of shows in Canada vs. around the world.
Probably the best thing about Netflix is all their Netflix Originals, and the fact that they’re constantly releasing new content.
They also produce a lot of international content, which is really cool!
You’ll find a wide range of shows from Brazil to Italy, and they’ve got an extensive selection of Korean shows and movies (my fave!)

How much does Netflix cost?
Plans for Netflix Canada start at $9.99 a month, and you can stream content across most devices with wifi capabilities, such as your TV, phone, and tablet.
- Basic plan – $9.99 a month
- Standard plan – $13.99 a month

Netflix is one of the few streaming platforms in Canada that doesn’t allow you to pay annually for a discount, unfortunately!

How many devices can you have on Netflix?
The amount of devices you can have on Netflix depends on your plan, and it ranges from one to four devices.
- Basic plan – 1 device

Prime Video
Amazon has been investing a lot in Prime Video over the last few years, and they’ve been coming out with a lot of awesome Amazon Originals.
A lot of their earlier shows seemed to cater to a more older, American audience, but they’re coming out with more and more awesome stuff for all audiences!
You’ll now find plenty of cute rom-coms and futuristic sci-fi shows.

How much does Prime Video cost?
The best thing about Prime Video is that it’s actually free.
Okay, not actually free, but it’s included in your Amazon Prime membership without any additional fees.
And most people get Amazon Prime for the free same, one, or two-day shipping, so technically Prime Video is just an extra free perk that’s included!
An Amazon Prime membership costs $9.99 a month or $99 annually.
If you don’t already have an Amazon Prime account, it’s definitely worth signing up to get Prime Video for free, and you can get a 30-day trial!

How many devices can you have on Prime Video?
There’s no limit to the amount of devices you can have on your Prime Video account, but there is a limit to how many accounts can stream at the same time.
You can stream up to 3 videos at the same time on the same Amazon account, and you can stream the same video on up to 2 devices at a time.

What are the best shows and movies to watch on Prime Video?
My fave shows on Prime Video include Invincible (animated action series), Tell Me Your Secrets (drama series), and Little Fires Everywhere (drama series).

Apple TV+
Apple TV+ doesn’t have as extensive a selection of TV shows and movies as other streaming platforms yet, but they’ve been rolling out some pretty good shows with some big stars.
It’s mostly made up of Apple Originals so far like The Crowded Room (with Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried), Servant (with Rupert Grint), and Lisey’s Story (with Julianne Moore and Clive Owen).
All of these shows are actually pretty amazing and worth watching.
They’ve also got some older Charlie Brown and Fraggle Rock movies!
