Amazon vs. Netflix vs. Crave
Prime Video, Netflix, and Crave are all great for their own reasons.
I personally find that Amazon has a lot more older movies, which I really enjoy.
The Amazon Original series seem to be geared towards an older crowd, and maybe even an American audience, but some of them are good.
Netflix definitely has the best original series and more options, while Crave offers HBO, Showtime, and Hollywood blockbusters.
I’m subscribed to all three streaming services, but it all depends on your personal preference!

I Care a Lot (2021)
A con artist works as a legal guardian and unknowingly bilks an elderly woman with ties to the Russian mafia.

High school student Bella Swan reluctantly moves in with her estranged father in a small Pacific Northwest town.
There, she meets the handsome and mysterious Edward Cullen, who turns out to be a vampire who doesn’t drink blood.

Jungle is based on the true story of Yossi Ghinsberg, and it tells his story of survival after he and his friends follow a strange guide into the Amazon rainforest.

Danielle Radcliffe does an incredible job of playing the lead actor!
1 film available on Prime Video, watch the trailer
John Wick franchise (2014 & 2017)
After the dog his recently deceased wife gifted him is killed, retired hitman John Wick seeks vengeance from the mobsters.
In the second movie, he’s forced to put his desire of a quiet civilian life on hold when a mafia lord shows up on his doorstep.
I’m not typically into the action genre, but John Wick is a franchise I really like!
You can watch the first two movies on Prime Video.

After her little sister gets randomly drawn to participate, Katniss Everdeen voluntarily takes her place, and that’s where the adventure begins.
The franchise is based off of the trilogy novel series, and the third book is split into two movies, so there are 4 movies you can watch on Prime Video.

Spider-Man franchise (2012-2021)
If you haven’t seen any of the Spider-Man movies before, it’s basically about a guy who gets bitten by a spider and uses his spidey senses and powers to defeat bad guys.
Superheroes aren’t really my thing, but the original Spider-Man series starring Tobey Maguire was amazing.
Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland have both since starred as Peter Parker, and you can watch their Spider-Man movies on Prime Video!
The cool thing about the newest 2021 film is that they bring back villains from the previous films, and there’s also a nice surprise.

Scarface (1983)
If you’re in the mood for more classic crime dramas, you’ll definitely enjoy Scarface.
Tony Montana and his close friend Manny build a strong drug empire in Miami, and as his power grows, so does his ego and his enemies.
You might recognize the iconic “say hello to my little friend” line from the movie.
It’s also actually a remake of a movie of the same name from the 1930s!
Al Pacino also stars in this one, alongside Michelle Pfeiffer.

Best thriller movies on Amazon Prime Video Canada
Triangle (2009)
After a storm ensues, a group of friends aboard a yacht jump onto a mysterious ship for safety.
I watched this movie without knowing anything about it beforehand, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was!
It’s a really fascinating film that’ll leave you wondering what the heck really happened.
1 film available on Amazon Prime Video, watch the trailer
The Voyeurs (2021)
The Voyeurs is a super intense thriller about a young couple who starts spying on their neighbours across the street to the point where they become obsessed.
Sydney Sweeney and Justice Smith were both awesome and had fantastic chemistry.
I also thought it was really cool that the movie was based on Montreal!
It’s not family-friendly at all by the way, so maybe don’t watch this with your parents or your kids.
1 film available on Amazon Prime Video, watch the trailer
My Son (2021)
A divorced couple’s young son goes missing from camp, and it turns out he’s been kidnapped.
James McAvoy (young Professor X from X-Men) stars in My Son, and he’s awesome in it.

Best horror movies on Amazon Prime Video Canada
I’m a big horror fan, and I’ve watched tons of horror movies on Amazon Prime Video Canada (the good, the bad, and the ugly).
I’ve included some of the best ones here, but I’ve also got a separate blog post all about the best horror movies on Prime Video, with even more great films for my fellow horror fans.
Train to Busan (2016)
Train to Busan is without a doubt the best zombie horror film I have ever seen.
While Seok-woo and his daughter are aboard a train to the city of Busan, they get trapped in the middle of a zombie outbreak.
It’s absolutely terrifying, especially since the zombies actually run fast.
The film is in Korean, so you’ll have to read subtitles, but it’s absolutely worth it.
There’s also a sequel called Peninsula, but it’s a completely different story and I didn’t love it as much as the first movie.
If you like Train to Busan, you should also watch Kingdom, a Netflix series about zombies invading ancient Korea (who also run fast), and #Alive, another South Korean Netflix movie about zombies!
1 film available on Amazon Prime Video, watch the trailer
Get Out (2017)
Chris’ girlfriend invites him to a weekend getaway to meet her parents, and he starts to discover some disturbing things.
Get Out was absolutely mind-blowing when it first came out, and it’s definitely one of the best psychological thrillers out there.
It was written and directed by the genius Jordan Peele, who also came out with Us and Nope!
It’s crazy that Get Out was also his debut into horror – he started out as a comedian on Mad TV!
1 film available on Amazon Prime Video, watch the trailer
A Quiet Place (2018)
A Quiet Place is a fantastic thriller that was so innovative and unique when it first came out, and it’s about a young family who lives in silence to avoid mysterious alien creatures that hunt by sound.
If you’ve seen Bird Box or The Silence on Netflix, it’s quite similar, but way better in my opinion!
A Quiet Place Part II is pretty much a direct continuation from the first movie, and you can watch it on Netflix.
Super cute thing: John Krasinksi (director and the dad in the movie) and Emily Blunt (the mom in the movie) are married in real life!
1 film available on Amazon Prime Video, watch the trailer
Don’t Hang Up (2016)
Two pranksters have the tables turned on them when a stranger’s prank call turns into a deadly game.
Don’t Hang Up is an interesting concept, and it’s definitely a creepy watch.
If you like the Scream franchise (the first 3 movies are on Crave), you’ll definitely enjoy it!
