Thank you to FavoriteBikes for providing the StormX e-bike in exchange for this review on the best e-bikes to ride in Toronto. As always, all opinions are my own.
One of my favourite ways to explore Toronto is by bike. Whether I’m riding along the waterfront, visiting different neighbourhoods, or popping into local cafés and shops, biking is the perfect way to experience the city at a slower pace.
Recently, I had the chance to try the FavoriteBikes StormX e-bike, which is available at Costco Canada, and it’s quickly become one of my favourite ways to get around.
Here’s a detailed review about the StormX e-bike, as well as my favourite trails to ride in Toronto!

FavoriteBikes StormX E-Bike review

FavoriteBikes is a Canadian electric bike brand sold at Costco Canada. They offer several models, including the Hybrid CSC, which is great for everyday city commuting, and the StormX, which is designed for more rugged riding conditions, but can also be used for day-to-day riding.
If you’ve never ridden an e-bike before, the StormX is very easy to get used to. You can use pedal assist, which gives you extra power while pedalling, or use the throttle to let the motor do the work.
E-bikes make riding around Toronto feel effortless, especially on longer routes. No more huffing and puffing while pedalling uphill! Vehicle traffic and transit delays can also make getting from one end of the city to the other a nightmare, and an e-bike makes it so much more efficient and and a lot more fun.
Benefits of the StormX e-bike
Here’s what I love most about the StormX e-bike:
- Can handle all seasons, including snowy weather
- Smart headlight and rear light
- Powerful pedal assist and throttle
- Can carry cargo on the welded rear rack
- Feels very sturdy and supportive

What stands out most to me is how sturdy the bike feels. The fat tires provide excellent grip and traction, which is especially helpful on uneven trails and paths. For anyone who isn’t super confident riding bikes, it makes it feel so much more comfortable and safe!
One of my favourite features is the smart lighting system, which is something I never thought I needed. The headlight and rear light automatically activate when it gets dark, helping make evening rides feel safer.
There’s also a rear rack that’s perfect for carrying groceries or other essentials, making it practical for everyday errands. The FavoriteBikes app is another nice touch, allowing you to unlock the bike directly from your phone!
The setup process for the bike does take some time, and I’d recommend having an extra set of hands to help. Fortunately, there are detailed instructions included, as well as setup videos available on the FavoriteBikes YouTube channel. And once you’re all set up, it’s easy to ride and get around the city!
Bike trails in Toronto to ride your e-bike

We have so many incredible bike trails in Toronto, but below are some of my personal favourites that you can take your StormX e-bike on.

Tommy Thompson Park
Tommy Thompson Park, formerly known as the Leslie Street Spit, used to be a dumping ground for the city. Now, it’s a lush green park, filled with over 300 different species of birds and plenty of space for walking or biking.
There’s also a cool lighthouse and cool skyline views at the end of the trail. Be sure to bring a camera to snap photos of all the birds!

High Park
High Park is one of Toronto’s most beloved parks, and for good reason. It’s a lovely place to explore on bike, but those uphill roads ain’t no joke!
There’s a mix of both bike trails and roads at High Park, so you will have to bike alongside cars at some points. Avoid visiting during peak hours if you don’t feel comfortable cycling alongside vehicles! Also watch out for pedestrians if you do visit during busy hours, as it does get very busy.

Waterfront Trail
The Waterfront Trail actually spans 22 kilometres from Etobicoke through Scarborough, but you can start and stop pretty much anywhere your heart desires.
If you’re biking in downtown Toronto, ride from Trillium Park to Cherry Beach or vice versa! You can stop by the Toronto Music Garden, HTO Park, Harbourfront, and Sugar Beach along the way.

For anyone looking for a comfortable way to explore more of Toronto, commute around the city, or even replace some car trips, the StormX e-bike is a fun and practical option worth considering.
You can find the StormX at Costco Canada, and FavoriteBikes even offers a 2-year warranty!
