Even with all the streaming platforms out there, I definitely think Crave is worth subscribing to.
Crave always comes out with the latest box office hits, and of course they’ve got tons of awesome horror and thriller movies.
While I love movies of all genres, I’m big on horror films – they’re just so fun to watch.
The more terrifying, the better tbh!
Here are some of the best and scariest horror and thriller movies to watch on Crave Canada, in my personal opinion!
Be sure to also follow me on Instagram and TikTok – I share a lot more content on those platforms that don’t make it to the blog!

Thriller horror movies on Crave
American Psycho (2000)
Patrick Bateman is a wealthy investment banker with a secret psychopathic side, and his bloodlust gets increasingly violent as he indulges in his dark desires.
American Psycho is a pretty gory one, so shield your eyes from this one if too much blood freaks you out.
It was good the first time watching it, but I think I liked it even better the second time around.
Some big names are in this horror classic, including Christian Bale, Reese Witherspoon, and Jared Leto!
There’s actually a sequel with Mila Kunis on Prime Video, but it’s more of a comedy horror and isn’t as good.

The Menu (2022)
A young couple visit an exclusive restaurant on a remote island, where they experience a lavish tasting menu with some unexpected surprises.
Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit), Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies), and Ralph Fiennes all star in The Menu!
The writers of the film were actually inspired by a real-life dining experience they had at a fancy restaurant on a remote Norwegian island, which is really funny.

The Purge franchise (2013-2016)
If you don’t know what the fictional “Purge” is, it’s 12 hours when almost all crime is legal, in an effort to create a ~crime-free~ world the rest of the year.
Each movie is about a different set of people and how they deal with the infamous Purge.
You can watch the first 3 movies on Crave, and there’s also a TV series on Prime Video!

47 Meters Down (2017)
If you’re into shark movies, the 47 Meters Down is pretty freaky.
Mandy Moore and Claire Holt star as sisters who get trapped in a cage underwater while diving in shark-infested waters.
There’s also a second movie starring John Corbett (Aidan from Sex and the City on Crave), though it’s not streaming anywhere currently.
The second movie is about four teenage girls who decide to explore an underwater Mayan settlement and accidentally get trapped with great white sharks.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
It Follows (2014)
After Jay sleeps with her new boyfriend for the first time, she finds out she’s contracted a fatal curse that gets passed from victim to victim via sex.
I watched this as a teenager almost a decade ago and it was pretty creepy back then!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Craft (1996)
A new girl in town joins a coven of 3 outcast teenage girls who practice witchcraft, and as they practice their powers against people that wrong them, and things start to take a detrimental turn.
Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich both star in The Craft!
There’s also a 2020 remake called The Craft: Legacy, though it’s not streaming anywhere.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Psychological horror movies on Crave
The Shining (1980)
The Shining is of course one of the most iconic horror movies ever made.
Even if you haven’t seen the film before, you’ll definitely recognize some of its most famous lines and scenes.
Jack Torrance moves his wife and young son into the Overlook Hotel, where they plan on taking care of it during the winter.
His son starts to get disturbing visions as Jack starts to discover the dark secrets behind the hotel.
There’s a sequel that came out in 2019 called Doctor Sleep, but tbh I don’t think it does the original film any justice.
It’s about the son, Danny, who’s now an adult haunted by his past.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Dead Ringers (1988)
Identical twins Elliot and Beverly are successful gynecologists in Toronto.
Elliot, the more confident brother, has affairs with many of his patients, and when he loses interest, passes them onto his meeker brother without the woman knowing.
When Beverly falls head over heels for one of the patients and she deceives him, he starts to go mad.
Dead Ringers was directed and written by iconic Canadian sci-fi horror director David Cronenberg, and it’s actually based on two real identical twin gynecologists!
There’s also a new series on Prime Video of the same name that’s based on the movie, and it stars Rachel Weisz as the twin gynecologists.

Supernatural horror movies on Crave
The Conjuring franchise (2013 & 2016)
The Conjuring is one of the creepiest horror franchises out there, probably because each movie is based on a real case solved by Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were paranormal investigators.
In the first movie, the Warrens come to the assistance of a troubled family, who experience increasingly disturbing events in their newly-occupied farmhouse in Rhode Island in 1971.
In the second movie, they travel to north London to help out a single mother and her four children.
The Devil Made Me Do It is the third instalment of The Conjuring series, where Ed and Lorraine Warren investigate a young man accused of murder, who claims he’s been possessed.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star in all of the movies, and they’re fantastic together.
Only the first two movies are available to stream on Crave, and they’re terrifying!
There are also spinoff movies all in the same universe, including the creepy Annabelle and The Nun.
2 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the first and second movies
The Nun II (2023)
In 1956 France, a priest is violently murdered, and when Sister Irene begins to investigate, she once again comes face-to-face with a powerful evil.
Sisters Taissa Farmiga and Vera Farmiga both star in The Nun II, as well as Storm Reid from Euphoria (which is also on Crave)!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Insidious franchise (2011-2023)
The Insidious series is actually my favourite horror movie franchise of all-time.
Chapters 1 are 2 are so well thought-out, and everything makes so much sense in Chapter 2!
The gist of the first two movies is that a family gets haunted by malevolent entities because of a special skill they have.
The rest of the movies in the franchise aren’t as great, but they’re still worth watching if you’re the type of person who likes to watch all the movies in the same universe.
You can watch the first 3 movies and the 5th movie on Crave, and the 4th movie is on Netflix!
4 films available on Crave, watch the trailer
Talk to Me (2022)
A group of friends discover how to conjure spirits with an embalmed hand, and they become hooked on the exhilaration and high-stakes party game.
However, their fascination takes a dark turn when one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.
Talk to Me is one of the more unique horror movies I’ve watched in recent years, alongside Hereditary, Midsommar, and Barbarian.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Smile (2022)
After witnessing a bizarre incident involving a patient, a doctor starts to experience terrifying, unexplainable occurrences.
She must confront her troubling past in order to escape her horrifying new reality.
You can watch Smile on Crave, and there’s a second movie out in theatres right now!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Camp Cold Brook (2018)
A reality TV crew visits an infamous camp that was the site of a mass murder 20 years earlier, and they start to experience strange events.
It ain’t a particularly great watch, but it’s still a fun one, and Chad Michael Murray is good eye-candy.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Exorcist (1973)
If you’re in the mood for an old school horror movie, you can watch The Exorcist on Crave.
It tells the story of a young woman who starts acting strangely, and a local priest believes she’s been possessed by the devil.
The film is based on a novel of the same name, which is loosely based on actual events.
Fun fact: The Exorcist is one of the most profitable horror movies ever made!
There’s actually a sequel coming out in 2023, and you can watch the trailer for it.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Omen (1976)
In The Omen trilogy, an American diplomat and his wife discover that their adopted son might be the Anti-Christ.
You can watch the original 1976 movie on Crave, as well as the rest of the movies on Disney+.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984-1989)
A Nightmare on Elm Street is a classic horror franchise all about Freddy Kruger and his terribly creepy knife fingers.
He stalks teenagers in their dreams and kills them, ultimately killing them in reality as well.
This ’80s slasher by Wes Craven has spawned a whole franchise, with 9 movies in total.
You can watch the first 5 movies from the ’80s on Crave!
5 films available on Crave, watch the trailer
Sci-fi horror movies on Crave
Infinity Pool (2023)
A vacationing couple spends a night outside the resort grounds with a mysterious couple, and the night ends in a tragic accident, leading them into further darkness.
There are quite a few ~risqué~ scenes, so definitely don’t watch this with your parents.
Alexander Skarsgård and Mia Goth both star in Infinity Pool, which was written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg, the iconic David Cronenberg’s son!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Fly (1986)
Seth Brundle is a brilliant scientist who creates a teleportation device, and decides to test his machine on himself.
He manages to teleport himself, but unknowingly has a special guest in the pod with him.
The Fly is an 80s horror/sci-fi by David Cronenberg, and while it does feel very 80s, it’s still a good one!
The special effects are super gross, so cover your eyes if things like Dr. Pimple Popper gross you out.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Creature horror movies on Crave
I Am Legend (2007)
Robert Neville is the last human survivor of a plague in New York.
A scientist before the man-made virus came to be, he attempts to create a cure using his own immune blood.
This movie freaked me out when I first watched it as a kid, especially because the zombies move really fast.
Will and his daughter, Willow Smith, both star in I Am Legend!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Alien franchise (1979 & 1986)
This iconic sci-fi thriller stars Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, who battles against extraterrestrial lifeforms.
You can watch two of the movies in the Alien franchise on Crave!
2 films available on Crave
Horror comedy movies on Crave
Assassination Nation (2018)
Four high school girls in Salem fight for their lives after a hacker exposes everyone in town’s secrets and sends the town into chaos.
The real action in Assassination Nation takes awhile, but it’s still an interesting watch.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Slasher horror movies on Crave
Scream franchise (1996-2023)
Can you call yourself a horror fan without having seen Scream?
The Scream franchise revolves around Sidney Prescott, who constantly gets chased by psychopaths in Ghostface masks.
It’s definitely one of my favourite horror franchises of all-time, and you can stream all of the movies on Crave.
It’s the ultimate slasher franchise that never gets old or boring, and I never get tired of re-watching it.
While Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger may be the OG slasher villains, I find myself laughing too much since both franchises started in the 70s and 80s and the special effects and costumes are kinda corny.
6 films available on Crave, watch the trailer
Final Destination franchise (2000-2011)
Final Destination is an iconic horror franchise that you’ve probably heard of even if you’ve never seen the movies before.
Basically in each movie, a group of people cheat death by having premonitions, and they end up mysteriously dying one by one because of ~fate~.
People die pretty horrifically, but it’s still amusing if you’re a horror lover.
You can watch all 5 Final Destination movies on Crave!
5 films available on Crave
Halloween Ends (2022)
As much as I love to hate on the Halloween movies, I can’t deny that I’ll keep watching them.
It’s not my favourite horror franchise of all-time, but it’s still a classic.
If you haven’t seen Halloween before, it’s basically about a seemingly-invincible dude named Michael Myers who goes around killing people every Halloween.
Halloween Ends is the last movie in the latest Halloween trilogy, and Jamie Lee Curtis stars in it.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
Serial killer Freddy Krueger enlists the help of murderer Jason Voorhees, but when Jason won’t stop killing Freddy’s intended victims, they battle it out.
This supernatural slasher is a crossover between the A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Saw franchise (2004-2023)
You’ve probably heard of the Saw franchise, and it’s definitely not for everyone.
A masked man named Jigsaw tortures people in the worst ways possible, and all of the movies are pretty gory and horrifying.
You can watch the first 3 movies and the newest 2023 movie on Crave!
4 films available on Crave
Thanksgiving (2023)
One year after a Black Friday riot ending in tragedy, a masked maniac terrorizes the residents of a small Massachusetts town.
Eli Roth directs this gory slasher, which Patrick Dempsey and Addison Rae both star in!

Horror comedies on Crave
Come to Daddy (2019)
I wasn’t expecting much when I decided to watch this Elijah Wood horror movie, but it’s actually worth watching.
Come to Daddy a hilarious horror-comedy film, and the “raisin eyes” bit absolutely kills me.
It’s weird seeing Elijah Wood in horror movies – you’ll freak out even more if you see him in Maniac.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Jennifer’s Body (2009)
After a demon takes possession of her, popular and beautiful high school student Jennifer turns a hungry eye on guys who never stood a chance with her before.
While she satisfies her hunger for human flesh with the school’s male population, her nerdy friend, Needy, tries to put a stop to it.
Jennifer’s Body is an iconic horror comedy starring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, and Adam Brody.
