How does Crave Canada work?

What’s included in Crave?

Crave is more expensive than other streaming services, but I think it’s definitely worth it for the blockbuster movies and HBO and Showtime series.

It’s $19.99 a month for the Crave Total plan or $9.99 for the Crave Mobile plan.

The Crave Total plan offers the best quality streaming and allows you to download to watch offline, while the Crave Mobile plan offers good quality streaming with no downloads.

If you have the Crave Mobile plan, only 1 device can be registered, and you can only stream on their website or mobile app.

Prices for Crave Canada:
  • Crave Total plan – $19.99 a month
  • Crave Mobile plan – $9.99 a month

You can get a free 7-day trial of Crave, and also prepay for your Crave subscription to get 2 months free.

Thriller movies on Crave

The Little Things (2021)

In the early 90s, a deputy sheriff and sergeant join forces to track down a serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles.

It’s more of a crime thriller than an actual horror, but there are some disturbing scenes.

Denzel Washington, Rami Malek (from Mr. Robot on Prime Video), and Jared Leto all star in The Little Things.

Spiral (2020)

A gay couple moves to a small town with their 16-year-old daughter, and things start to take a turn for the worst.

Spiral has some pretty good jump scares if you’re into that, although it’s more of a psychological horror!

Lochlyn Munro (Betty’s dad in Riverdale on Netflix) stars as one of the dads.

Fear of Rain (2021)

A teen with early-onset schizophrenia struggles between figuring out what’s real and what’s in her head when she suspects her next-door neighbour has kidnapped a little girl.

Katherine Heigl stars as the mom in Fear of Rain, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in anything other than comedies!

Within These Walls (2020)

After single mother Mel breaks up with her boyfriend, strange things start to happen in her house.

Within These Walls is a creepy one if you’re into thrillers!

Stanley Kubrick Exhibition at TIFF Bell Lightbox
An exhibit from The Shining at the Stanley Kubrick exhibition inside TIFF Bell Lightbox in 2015.

The Shining (1980)

The Shining is of course one of the most iconic horror movies ever made.

Even if you haven’t seen the film before, you’ll definitely recognize some of its most famous lines and scenes.

Jack Torrance moves his wife and young son into the Overlook Hotel, where they plan on taking care of it during the winter.

His son starts to get disturbing visions as Jack starts to discover the dark secrets behind the hotel.

There’s a sequel that came out in 2019 called Doctor Sleep, but tbh I don’t think it does the original film any justice.

It’s about the son, Danny, who’s now an adult haunted by his past.

Supernatural horror movies on Crave

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)

The Devil Made Me Do It is the third instalment of The Conjuring series, where Ed and Lorraine Warren investigate a young man accused of murder, who claims he’s been possessed.

8 Pros & Cons of Subscribing to Crave TV

The Conjuring is one of my all-time favourite horror franchises – the movies are actually terrifying, and they’re actually based on real people and real life cases!

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson star in all three movies, and they’re fantastic together.

The Turning (2020)

Kate takes on a job as a nanny for two young orphans at an isolated Gothic mansion in the countryside.

She soon learns that the children are emotionally distant and unstable, and when strange events start to happen, she begins to suspect that a malevolent entity haunts the estate.

It’s pretty weird seeing Finn Wolfhard (Mike in Stranger Things on Netflix) play such a different role in The Turning, but he does a great job.

You Should Have Left (2020)

Strange things start to happen when a couple and their daughter rent a secluded vacation home in the countryside.

When I saw the trailer, I thought there’d be a meaning behind the age gap relationship with Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried, but it’s completely irrelevant to the story.

You Should Have Left is not a bad watch if you’re into supernatural thrillers!

The Empty Man (2021)

While searching for a missing teenage girl, an ex-cop comes across a mysterious cult trying to summon a supernatural entity.

The Empty Man didn’t get rave reviews from critics, but I thought it was overall a pretty good watch!

Creature horror movies on Crave

Come Play (2020)

Lonely Oliver spends his time glued to screens, and a lonely monster uses his devices to enter his world.

Come Play is a great thriller with a pretty good ending, and I love how they use modern technology to tell a terrifying story.

You might recognize Gillian Jacobs from the Netflix series Love!

Blood Quantum (2019)

The world gets taken over by a zombie virus, and the Mi’qmaq community of Red Crow is immune to it.

If you’re a fan of gore, you’ll definitely enjoy this one.

Blood Quantum features an almost entirely Indigenous cast, and it’s also a Canadian film!

Underwater (2020)

Water crashes through the walls of an underwater drilling station, and researchers must walk across the sea floor to find safety at the main part of the facility.

Little do they know, mysterious creatures are lurking nearby.

Kirsten Stewart does an incredible job in Underwater – though a lot of people discredited her performance in the Twilight movies, I loved her.

The Fly (1986)

Seth Brundle is a brilliant scientist who creates a teleportation device, and decides to test his machine on himself.

He manages to teleport himself, but unknowingly has a special guest in the pod with him.

The Fly is an 80s horror/sci-fi, and while it does feel very 80s, it’s still a good one!

The special effects are super gross, so cover your eyes if things like Dr. Pimple Popper gross you out.

Horror comedy movies on Crave

The Hunt (2020)

Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing unaware of how they got there, and it turns out they’re being hunted for sport by a group of elitists.

It’s a super fun, action-packed thriller if that’s what you’re in the mood for!

There’s also quite a bit of gore if you’re into that.

Freaky (2020)

Freaky Friday meets Halloween in this horror-comedy.

When teenager Millie Kessler becomes the target of the Butcher, the town serial killer, they magically switch bodies with the power of a mystical dagger, and she discovers she only has 24 hours to get her identity back.

Freaky is a fun watch, and it’s suitable for even your friends who aren’t crazy about scary movies!

Kathryn Newton (Detective Pikachu and Big Little Lies) and Vince Vaughn star in this one!

The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)

Brutal murders happen every full moon in Snow Hollow, and the townspeople start to think there’s a werewolf in town.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow is a pretty fun horror comedy, and while I’m not typically a fan of werewolf movies, this one was pretty good.

YouTuber Jimmy Tatro (LifeAccordingToJimmy) also stars in this movie!

Assassination Nation (2018)

Four high school girls in Salem fight for their lives after a hacker exposes everyone in town’s secrets and sends the town into chaos.

The real action in Assassination Nation takes awhile, but it’s still an interesting watch.

Tales from the Hood 3 (2020)

Tales from the Hood 3 is the third instalment of the horror anthology franchise, and I’m truly shocked I’ve never heard of it before.

In this one, a man and a little girl try to outrun something evil, and she tells him different horror stories to keep her mind off of the danger.

The stories are actually pretty unique, and they’re really well-done.

The entire franchise is also executive-produced by Spike Lee!

Spontaneous (2020)

When students at their high school begin to randomly explode, two seniors make the most of what may be the last moments of their lives.

Katherine Langford from 13 Reasons Why stars in Spontaneous!

Slasher horror movies on Crave

Random Acts of Violence (2019)

A famous comic book writer discovers gruesome events are happening around a character in his comics.

It’s pretty gory, so don’t watch if that kind of stuff freaks you out.

This is the first time I’ve personally seen Jay Baruchel do anything outside of comedy, and he actually directs and stars in Random Acts of Violence!

Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)

Spiral: From the Book of Saw is the latest instalment of the gory Saw franchise, and it’s every bit as disturbing and horrifying as the other movies.

It’s about a detective and his rookie partner who investigate violent murders that are eerily reminiscent of past murders.

Chris Rock and Samuel Jackson both star in Spiral, and it’s Chris Rock’s first time branching into horror!

They actually also filmed the movie here in Toronto, which is pretty cool.

Sci-fi horror movies on Crave

Sea Fever (2019)

Solitary marine-biology student Siobhan spends a week on a ragged fishing boat with a tight-knit crew, and when a strange life-form entraps the boat, the crew members start getting a strange parasitic infection.

Sea Fever is actually an Irish film, and it’s interesting hearing some local superstitions and folklore!

The Invisible Man (2020)

Cecilia’s abusive ex-boyfriend fakes his own death and becomes invisible to stalk and torment her.

When no one around her believes her, she takes matters into her own hands.

While I didn’t love The Invisible Man, I do love Elisabeth Moss, and it’s still an entertaining watch if you’re in the mood for a thriller.

It’s based on a novel of the same name by H.G. Wells!

Shy Sarah gets into a brutal accident and undergoes an experimental treatment that helps her recover quickly, but strange side effects start to show up.

Although the movie isn’t a great one, you’ll like watching Rabid for the gore.

It’s a remake of the 1977 David Cronenberg movie of the same name.
