It’s based on novelist Amanda Brown’s experiences at Stanford Law School, and the book is also called Legally Blonde!

Father of the Bride is a super fun rom-com about Cuban-American architect and father of the bride, Billy, and his family.

The coming-of-age movie was written and directed by Bo Burnham, a comedian who you might recognize from YouTube!
He casted actual eighth graders for the film, and he actually found the lead actress on YouTube while researching about teenagers for the film.
Eight Grade is totally not something for kids to watch, even though it’s about kids.

Self-centred weatherman Phil travels to a small town for an assignment, and wakes up the next morning realizing he’s reliving the same day over and over.

Sex and the City franchise (2008 & 2010)
While a lot of people didn’t love the Sex and the City movies, I loved that it was an extension of the show.
Though I did watch the movies before I watched the show!
Sex and the City: The Movie is set four years after the show, and it’s basically a continuation of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda’s lives.
You can watch the original show on Crave, as well as the new series, And Just Like That!
The new series is okay, but I might be saying that because I’m sad Kim Cattrall isn’t in it.
2 films availables on Crave, watch the trailer
Ghostbusters (1984, 1989, & 2016)
Even if you haven’t seen any of the Ghostbusters movies, you’ve definitely heard the iconic theme song before.
It’s a supernatural comedy franchise all about the Ghostbusters, a group of NYC scientists who capture ghosts for a living.
You can watch the original movies from 1984 and 1989, as well as the 2016 reboot on Crave.
3 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the 1984 and 2016 movies
Beetlejuice (1988)
Beetlejuice honestly terrified me as a kid, but now I think it’s a fun classic movie.
When a deceased couple are unsuccessful in scaring away a family that’s moved into their old house, they seek the help of a bio-exorcist.
Tim Burton directed the movie, and Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Alec Baldwin all star in it!
There’s also a new movie out in theatres right now, set 36 years after the events of the first movie.

Good Will Hunting (1997)
Will Hunting is a math genius who gets help from a psychiatrist after facing an emotional crisis.

Pulp Fiction (1994)
Pulp Fiction is an iconic Quentin Tarantino film about the lives of a bunch of criminals and how their lives get intertwined.
It’s a black-comedy crime film, and it’s known as one of the best movies of all-time!

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Inception (2010)
Dom Cobb enters people’s dreams and steals secrets from their subconscious minds.
He gets the opportunity to have his criminal past wiped in exchange for implanting an idea into someone’s mind.
Inception is undoubtedly one of the most mind-boggling movies out there, and it’s almost 3 hours long.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Elliot Page all star in Inception!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Minari (2020)
In search of the American Dream, a young Korean-American family moves to a rural farm in the 1980’s.
Minari is a beautiful story about family, and Steven Yeun does an awesome job at playing the role of the dad.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
42 (2013)
42 is based on the true story of Jackie Robinson, one of the most legendary baseball players of all-time.
After Major League executive Branch Rickey drafts Jackie Robinson as a player for the Brooklyn Dodgers, they’re targeted with racism and hostility, but Robinson lets his talents speak for himself.
Fun fact: all MLB players wear the number 42 in April to commemorate Jackie Robinson’s accomplishments, and the number 42 is the only number retired in baseball.
The late Chadwick Boseman plays Jackie Robinson in the film, and he was incredible in it.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Destroyer (2018)
Erin Bell had her life destroyed when she went undercover as a young cop, and she has to face her demons years later to make peace with her past.
Nicole Kidman stars in Destroyer, and I totally didn’t recognize her at first.
She’s not her usual pretty and primp self in this one, and I like that she took on a totally different role than her usual!
She’s actually been doing a lot of interesting roles, and her role in Nine Perfect Strangers on Prime Video is quite different as well.
Tatiana Maslany (from Orphan Black, also on Crave) also stars in the movie.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Rocky franchise (1976-2006)
You’ve definitely heard of Rocky and know the iconic theme song.

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005)
Corpse Bride is an iconic Tim Burton movie, and probably my favourite of his.
While practicing his wedding vows, Victor gets dragged to the land of the dead by Emily, who wants to marry him.
Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter voice the two main characters!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Shrek (2001, 2004, & 2007)
Shrek is love, Shrek is life, amirite?
You can watch all three movies of our loveable green ogre on Crave, where he meets his best buddy Donkey and his beloved Princess Fiona.
If you didn’t know, Mike Myers voices Shrek and Eddie Murphy voices Donkey!
3 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the first, second, and third movies
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Roald Dahl was my favourite author growing up – I read all of his books as a kid!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was definitely one of my favourites.
It tells the story of Charlie and a group of other children who win golden tickets to visit Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory.
A little Freddie Highmore (from Bates Motel) stars alongside Johnny Depp, who plays Willy Wonka.
Tim Burton also directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The 2005 movie is a remake, and I actually like the OG movie from the ’70s more!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Fantasy movies on Crave
Harry Potter franchise (2001-2011)
You probably don’t need me to explain the iconic Harry Potter film series, but it’s about an orphan named Harry Potter who finds out that he’s a wizard.
He goes to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he meets lifelong friends.
It’s of course not as simple and wholesome as that, but I’ll let you watch the movies to discover more.
I rewatch all of the movies every few years, and it feels so nostalgic rewatching them and reliving the memories I had as a kid.
You can stream all 8 of the Harry Potter movies on Crave!
8 films available on Crave, watch the trailers
Fantastic Beasts franchise (2016, 2018, & 2022)
If you can’t get enough of the Harry Potter world, you can step into the same universe with the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
It’s set before the time of the Harry Potter movies, and you’ll get to meet characters like young Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.
Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, and Ezra Miller all star in the movies!
3 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the first, second, and third movies
The Lord of the Rings franchise (2001-2003)
This epic fantasy trilogy by J. R. R. Tolkien is set in a distant past where heroes fight against evil.
The Lord of the Rings stars some iconic actors, including Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, and Liv Tyler!
You can watch all 3 movies on Crave, and there’s actually a prequel series called The Rings of Power that you can watch on Prime Video.
Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of the series, but it’s still a good watch if you love the LOTR universe!
3 films available on Crave
The Hobbit franchise (2012, 2013 & 2014)
If you don’t already know what The Hobbit is, it’s set in the same fantasy universe as The Lord of the Rings.
All three movies are a prequel to The Lord of the Rings, and they’re all about the adventures of hobbit Bilbo Baggins.
You can watch An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and The Battle of the Five Armies all on Crave.
3 films available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
I actually had no idea how old this movie was until I was doing research for this post.
I watched the VHS of The Wizard of Oz a bazillion times growing up!
Basically, Dorothy and her dog Toto get whisked away to the land of Oz during a tornado, and they meet some characters along the Yellow Brick Road.
You might remember the characters: the Wizard, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion!
Judy Garland starred as Dorothy – she was an internationally-known musical actress!

Action & adventure movies on Crave
Jungle (2017)
Jungle is based on the true story of Yossi Ghinsberg, and it tells his story of survival after he and his friends follow a strange guide into the Amazon rainforest.
It’s actually very terrifying, but it’s a miracle Ghinsberg made it out alive.
Danielle Radcliffe does an incredible job of playing the lead actor!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Life of Pi (2012)
After deciding to sell their zoo in India to move to Canada, a family boards a boat with their few remaining animals.
When tragedy strikes and a terrible storm sinks the ship, teenage Pi and the family’s Bengal tiger are the only survivors.
Suraj Sharma does an incredible job as Pi, and this movie is actually based on a book of the same name!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Hunger Games franchise (2012-2023)
If you don’t already know of The Hunger Games, it’s set in a post-apocalyptic world where teenagers compete in the televised Hunger Games.
After her little sister gets randomly drawn to participate, Katniss Everdeen voluntarily takes her place, and that’s where the adventure begins.
The franchise is based off of the trilogy novel series, and the third book is split into two movies, so there are 4 movies you can watch on Crave.
Adam and I rewatched all the movies in recent years, and it’s so funny how your perspective changes with age.
I of course loved Katniss when I was a teenager, but watching the movies as an adult, I was extremely annoyed with her lol.
There’s also a spin-off franchise about President Snow’s backstory, called The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, and you can also watch it on Crave!
5 films available on Crave
Jumanji franchise (1995 & 2017)
After two kids come across a magical board game called Jumanji, they discover a man who’s trapped in the game and try to rescue him.
It’s a fun movie that’s sparked a more modern remake, and you can watch the original and remake on Crave!
In Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, four students get trapped in a magical video game during detention, and they get thrown into the world.
It’s hilarious, and the cast is awesome.
While the concept is the same as the 1995 film, the fact that it’s based in a video game makes it a lot different.
Both the 1995 and 2010s versions are great in their own ways!
2 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the 1995 & 2017 movies
Godzilla franchise (2014 & 2024)
Godzilla is a prehistoric sea monster who destroys cities, and you can watch the 2014 and 2024 movies on Crave.
The 2024 movie is a face-off between Godzilla and King Kong, as they face a colossal threat hidden deep within the planet that challenges their very existence and the survival of the human race.
2 films available on Crave
The Karate Kid (1984-2010)
The Karate Kid is all about Daniel LaRusso, who learns karate from Mr. Miyagi in order to help defend himself and compete in a tournament against his bullies.
The first three movies in the franchise are all about the same guy, and the 2010 movie stars Jaden Smith.
There’s also a Netflix Original series based on the franchise called Cobra Kai!
4 films available on Netflix
Oldboy (2003)
Oldboy is an absolutely wild film by acclaimed South Korean director, Park Chan-wook.
It tells the story of Dae-Su, an obnoxious drunk who gets abducted from the street one day, wakes up in a mysterious cell, and spends the next 15 years in solitude.
After he’s suddenly released by his captors, he tracks down his jailor to find out the truth.
I watched it almost a decade ago and was totally shocked by the twist.
It was just as crazy when I rewatched it recently!
It’s definitely not like any Korean dramas and it ain’t family-friendly at all 😛
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
John Wick franchise (2014-2023)
After the dog his recently deceased wife gifted him is killed, retired hitman John Wick seeks vengeance from the mobsters.
I’m not typically into the action genre, but John Wick is a franchise I really like!
It also helps that we all know and love Keanu Reeves.
You can watch all four of the John Wick movies on Crave!
4 films available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Fate of the Furious (2017)
The F&F crew is finally living a normal life, until a mysterious woman forces Dom to betray them all.
They work together to bring home the man who made them a family and stop the woman from unleashing chaos.
The Fast & Furious franchise is actually one of my favourite action franchises of all-time.
I’m not really into cars, but it’s a fantastic franchise that’s still very entertaining for people who don’t care that much about cars!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Venom (2018)
I’m not big on the whole superhero movie franchise thing, but Adam and I both really enjoyed Venom.
Eddie Brock is an investigative journalist trying to take down the evil CEO behind Life Foundation.
After breaking into the Life Foundation’s research facility, his body gets merged with Venom, an alien who gives Eddie superhuman abilities.
You can watch the first movie on Crave and the second movie on Netflix!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Spider-Man franchises (2002-2017)
We all know and love Spider-Man, the friendly neighbourhood superhero who gets bitten by a spider and gains superhuman abilities.
You can watch all 3 of the original movies with Tobey Maguire (my fave Spider-Man), as well as the movies starring Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland as Spider-Man!
6 films available on Crave
Batman franchise (1989-2022)
While I’ve never been into the whole superhero thing, I do like Batman (with Christian Bale) and Spiderman (with Tobey Maguire).
If you’re into Batman, you can watch all the Batman movies from 1989 to 2022 on Crave.
The funny thing is that different actors play Batman in every single one of the live action films.
Personally, I think Christian Bale is my favourite Batman!
8 films available on Crave
Man of Steel (2013)
A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers, and discovers he’s an alien from the planet Krypton.
He assumes the role of mankind’s protector as Superman.
Henry Cavill stars as Clark Kent in this version of the Superman franchise.
Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Russell Crowe all star in the film as well!

Thriller movies on Crave
Parasite (2019)
Parasite is a black comedy and thriller about a wealthy family and a working-class family, and how their lives get intertwined.
It’s wild and anxiety-filled, and definitely worth sitting through subtitles for.
The film won four Oscars, and it’s currently the highest grossing film in South Korea!
The film features an all-star cast, including the late Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Park Seo-joon, Kang ho Song, and Lee Jung-eun.
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Missing (2023)
When her mother disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, a Los Angeles teenager searches for answers.
Storm Reid (Rue’s sister in Euphoria) and Nia Long both star in Missing.
The entire movie is made up of found footage or digital screens (also known as “screenlife”), which is a style I actually enjoy.
If you like the screenlife genre, Unfriended is a pretty good horror and Searching is a pretty good thriller!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Horror movies on Crave
The Shining (1980)
The Shining is of course one of the most iconic horror movies ever made.
Even if you haven’t seen the film before, you’ll definitely recognize some of its most famous lines and scenes.
Jack Torrance moves his wife and young son into the Overlook Hotel, where they plan on taking care of it during the winter.
His son starts to get disturbing visions as Jack starts to discover the dark secrets behind the hotel.
There’s a sequel that came out in 2019 called Doctor Sleep, but tbh I don’t think it does the original film any justice.
It’s about the son, Danny, who’s now an adult haunted by his past.
There’s also a documentary called Room 237 that’s all about The Shining, and it’s really good!
1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer
Beast (2022)
A recently-widowed doctor travels with his two teenage daughters to a South African game reserve run by an old family friend.
What starts off as a journey of healing soon turns into a fight for survival when a lion begins to stalk them.
Idris Elba stars in this action horror flick, and the actresses who play his daughter have great chemistry!

Fake Famous (2021)
Three different people in Los Angeles with small followings get turned into influencers as a social experiment, which involves buying Instagram followers and taking “fake” photos.
While Fake Famous is a really interesting documentary to watch, it’s clearly very biased and not representative of the actual influencer world lol.
If you enjoy the documentary, you might also enjoy my opinion piece on why everyone wants to be Instagram famous.
