How does Crave Canada work?

What’s included in Crave?

Crave is more expensive than other streaming services, but I think it’s definitely worth it for the blockbuster movies and HBO and Showtime series.

It’s $19.99 a month for the Crave Total plan or $9.99 for the Crave Mobile plan.

The Crave Total plan offers the best quality streaming and allows you to download to watch offline.

In comparison, the Crave Mobile plan offers good quality streaming with no downloads.

How many devices can you have on Crave?

You can have up to 5 devices registered to your Crave account with the Crave Total plan, and 4 people can watch at the same time on different devices.

If you have the Crave Mobile plan, only 1 device can be registered, and you can only stream on their website or mobile app.

Prices for Crave Canada:
  • Crave Total plan – $19.99 a month
  • Crave Mobile plan – $9.99 a month

You can get a free 7-day trial of Crave to try it out, which is pretty nice.

You can also prepay annually for your Crave subscription to get 2 months free!

Comedy movies on Crave

Legally Blonde (2001 & 2003)

If you’re in need of some girl boss inspo, Legally Blonde is the movie to watch.

After Elle’s boyfriend breaks up with her to start a new life with a new girl and as a Harvard law student, Elle enrols into the same school and shows him who’s boss.

What, like it’s hard?

Even though I’ve watched Legally Blonde a gazillion times, I had no idea it was actually based on a true story.

It’s based on novelist Amanda Brown’s experiences at Stanford Law School, and the book is also called Legally Blonde!

Bridesmaids (2011)

Annie is asked by her best friend Lillian to be her maid of honour, but it all turns into a disaster when she gets into a feud with one of the other bridesmaids.

Bridesmaids is another one of those classic comedies that never gets old.

It stars some well-known names, including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, and Rebel Wilson.

If you enjoy Bridesmaids, you might also enjoy the Netflix comedy Wine Country, which stars Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, and Maya Rudolph!

Father of the Bride (2022)

In the mood for a wholesome comedy movie on Crave?

Father of the Bride is a super fun rom-com about Cuban-American architect and father of the bride, Billy, and his family.

I love that it’s centred around an immigrant family, and yes, it’s also a remake of the Steve Martin movie (though that one is also a remake)!

21 Jump Street (2012)

After two cops join the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover as high school students.

They realize high school is nothing like when they went years ago, and they have to once again confront the teenage terror and anxiety they thought they’d left behind.

Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Dave Franco, Brie Larson, and Ice Cube all star in 21 Jump Street.

There’s also a sequel called 22 Jump Street that you can watch on Netflix!

Eighth Grade (2018)

Kayla is a shy and introverted eighth grader who posts videos about self-confidence online.

The coming-of-age movie was written and directed by Bo Burnham, a comedian who you might recognize from YouTube!

He casted actual eighth graders for the film, and he actually found the lead actress on YouTube while researching about teenagers for the film.

Eight Grade is totally not something for kids to watch, even though it’s about kids.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Magic Mike franchise (2012, 2015, & 2023)

Experienced male stripper Mike shows the ropes to a 19-year-old he names the Kid.

Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, and Alex Pettyfer all star in Magic Mike, and there are also two sequels you can watch on Crave!

Fun fact: it’s not a true story, but it’s inspired by Channing Tatum’s former life as a male stripper.

3 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the first, second, and third movies

Sex and the City franchise (2008 & 2010)

While a lot of people didn’t love the Sex and the City movies, I loved that it was an extension of the show.

Though I did watch the movies before I watched the show!

Sex and the City: The Movie is set four years after the show, and it’s basically a continuation of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda’s lives.

You can watch the original show on Crave, as well as the new series, And Just Like That!

The new series is okay, but I might be saying that because I’m sad Kim Cattrall isn’t in it.

Drama movies on Crave

Good Will Hunting (1997)

Will Hunting is a math genius who gets help from a psychiatrist after facing an emotional crisis.

Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Robin Williams all star in Good Will Hunting!

The screenplay was written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, which I find so incredible, especially with how young they were at the time.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Pulp Fiction is an iconic Quentin Tarantino film about the lives of a bunch of criminals and how their lives get intertwined.

It’s a black-comedy crime film, and it’s known as one of the best movies of all-time!

John Travolta, Uma Thurman, and Samuel L. Jackson all star in it.

You might’ve seen people dressing up as Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega for Halloween – you’ll know when you watch the movie!

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Erin Brockovich (2000)

Julia Roberts stars as Erin Brockovich in this emotional movie based on a true story.

After a car accident in which Erin is not at fault, she pleads with her attorney to hire her at his law firm.

Erin stumbles across medical records and investigates them, where she discovers a cover-up involving contaminated water causing devastating illnesses to residents of a local community.

The Matrix Resurrections (2021)

You’ve probably heard of the Matrix franchise, and you can watch the newest movie on Crave.

It’s basically all about a dystopian future where humanity is unknowingly trapped inside a simulated reality.

Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne star in all The Matrix movies, and The Matrix Resurrections also stars Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, and Jada Pinkett Smith!

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Inception (2010)

Dom Cobb enters people’s dreams and steals secrets from their subconscious minds.

He gets the opportunity to have his criminal past wiped in exchange for implanting an idea into someone’s mind.

Inception is undoubtedly one of the most mind-boggling movies out there, and it’s almost 3 hours long.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Elliot Page all star in Inception!

Blue Bayou (2021)

A Korean adoptee raised in a small Louisiana town struggles to make a better life for his pregnant wife and stepdaughter.

After facing deportation from the only country he’s ever called home, he has to face the ghosts of his past.

Blue Bayou is an incredible and extremely emotional film, so be sure to have a box of tissues on-hand.

I was crying throughout the movie and literally ugly sobbing by the end.

Fun fact: the actor who plays Eric from Twilight, Justin Chon, is the writer, director, and star of Blue Bayou!

Alicia Vikander, who plays Lara Croft in the latest Tomb Raider movies, is his co-star.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Light of My Life (2019)

Light of My Life is a beautiful post-apocalyptic drama about a father who does everything to protect his young daughter after a mysterious plague wipes out most of the female population.

Casey Affleck (yes, he’s related to Ben Affleck – he’s his brother) stars as the father, and he does an incredible job showcasing the love a father has for his daughter.

Elizabeth Moss also has a minor role as his wife!

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Minari (2020)

In search of the American Dream, a young Korean-American family moves to a rural farm in the 1980’s.

Minari is a beautiful story about family, and Steven Yeun does an awesome job at playing the role of the dad.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)

The Eyes of Tammy Faye is a biographical drama about the rise and fall of Tammy Faye, an American evangelist and TV personality.

It’s actually based on the 2000 documentary of the same name.

Jessica Chastain is incredible as Tammy Faye, and Andrew Garfield is great as Jim Bakker!

42 (2013)

42 is based on the true story of Jackie Robinson, one of the most legendary baseball players of all-time.

After Major League executive Branch Rickey drafts Jackie Robinson as a player for the Brooklyn Dodgers, they’re targeted with racism and hostility, but Robinson lets his talents speak for himself.

Fun fact: all MLB players wear the number 42 in April to commemorate Jackie Robinson’s accomplishments, and the number 42 is the only number retired in baseball.

The late Chadwick Boseman plays Jackie Robinson in the film, and he was incredible in it.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Destroyer (2018)

Erin Bell had her life destroyed when she went undercover as a young cop, and she has to face her demons years later to make peace with her past.

Nicole Kidman stars in Destroyer, and I totally didn’t recognize her at first.

She’s not her usual pretty and primp self in this one, and I like that she took on a totally different role than her usual!

She’s actually been doing a lot of interesting roles, and her role in Nine Perfect Strangers on Prime Video is quite different as well.

Tatiana Maslany (from Orphan Black, also on Crave) also stars in the movie.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Rocky franchise (1976-2006)

You’ve definitely heard of Rocky and know the iconic theme song.

The story is about Rocky Balboa, a small-time boxer, who gets a chance to fight a prestigious heavyweight champion Apollo Creed.

Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred in Rocky, and you can watch 6 of the movies in the franchise on Crave!

There’s also a 2020 documentary you can watch on Crave called 40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic.

Romance movies on Crave

Brokeback Mountain (2005)

Brokeback Mountain is one of the most beautiful romance dramas that’s ever been made.

Ennis and Jack are two shepherds who develop a relationship, which becomes complicated when they get married to their girlfriends.

The star-studded cast features Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Williams, and Anne Hathaway.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

In the Mood for Love (2000)

Two neighbours start to form a connection after they realize both their spouses are having affairs.

Everything about In the Mood for Love is stunning – the cinematography, the writing, the wardrobe – it’s such a masterpiece.

It also stars Tony Leung as the male lead, who was the dad in Shang-Chi (which you can watch on Disney+)!

The film is also in Cantonese, so you’ll have to read subtitles.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Marry Me (2022)

Popstar Kat Valdez is about to get married on stage to the love of her life, but moments before, she finds out her fiancé has been cheating on her.

She has a meltdown on-stage and ends up marrying a random stranger in the crowd – a middle school math teacher and single dad.

Marry Me is totally unrealistic but still a very cute and light-hearted rom-com worth watching.

It also stars J-Lo, Owen Wilson, Maluma, and John Bradley (Sam from Game of Thrones, which you can watch on Crave)!

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Ever After: A Cinderella Story (1998)

If you’re looking for a fun family movie to watch, Ever After: A Cinderella Story is enjoyable for everyone.

It’s a cute and funny Cinderella story starring Drew Barrymore!

Danielle is treated like a servant by her stepmother and stepsisters, and her life changes when Prince Henry, heir to the kingdom, falls in love with her.

Family movies on Crave

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005)

Corpse Bride is an iconic Tim Burton movie, and probably my favourite of his.

While practicing his wedding vows, Victor gets dragged to the land of the dead by Emily, who wants to marry him.

Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter voice the two main characters!

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Shrek (2001, 2004, & 2007)

Shrek is love, Shrek is life, amirite?

You can watch all three movies of our loveable green ogre on Crave, where he meets his best buddy Donkey and his beloved Princess Fiona.

If you didn’t know, Mike Myers voices Shrek and Eddie Murphy voices Donkey!

3 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the first, second, and third movies

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

Roald Dahl was my favourite author growing up – I read all of his books as a kid!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was definitely one of my favourites.

It tells the story of Charlie and a group of other children who win golden tickets to visit Willy Wonka’s magical chocolate factory.

A little Freddie Highmore (from Bates Motel) stars alongside Johnny Depp, who plays Willy Wonka.

Tim Burton also directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The 2005 movie is a remake, and I actually like the OG movie from the ’70s more!

Fantasy movies on Crave

Harry Potter franchise (2001-2011)

You probably don’t need me to explain the iconic Harry Potter film series to you, but it’s about an orphan named Harry Potter who goes to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and meets lifelong friends.

It’s of course not as simple and wholesome as that, but I’ll let you watch the movies to discover more.

You can stream all 8 Harry Potter movies on Crave!

8 films available on Crave, watch the trailers

Fantastic Beasts franchise (2016, 2018, & 2022)

If you can’t get enough of the Harry Potter world, you can step into the same universe with the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

It’s set before the time of the Harry Potter movies, and you’ll get to meet characters like young Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.

Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law, and Ezra Miller all star in the movies!

3 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the first, second, and third movies

The Lord of the Rings franchise (2001-2003)

This epic fantasy trilogy by J. R. R. Tolkien is set in a distant past where heroes fight against evil.

The Lord of the Rings stars some iconic actors, including Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, and Liv Tyler!

You can watch all 3 movies on Crave, and there’s actually a prequel series called The Rings of Power that you can watch on Prime Video.

Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of the series, but it’s still a good watch if you love the LOTR universe!

3 films available on Crave

The Hobbit franchise (2012, 2013 & 2014)

If you don’t already know what The Hobbit is, it’s set in the same fantasy universe as The Lord of the Rings.

All three movies are a prequel to The Lord of the Rings, and they’re all about the adventures of hobbit Bilbo Baggins.

You can watch An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and The Battle of the Five Armies all on Crave.

3 films available on Crave, watch the trailer

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

I actually had no idea how old this movie was until I was doing research for this post.

I watched the VHS of The Wizard of Oz a bazillion times growing up!

Basically, Dorothy and her dog Toto get whisked away to the land of Oz during a tornado, and they meet some characters along the Yellow Brick Road.

You might remember the characters: the Wizard, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion!

Judy Garland starred as Dorothy – she was an internationally-known musical actress!

Action & adventure movies on Crave

The Northman (2022)

After his uncle brutally murders his father and takes his mother as a bride, young Prince Amleth promises to get his revenge, and he gets the chance two decades later.

The Vikings series on Netflix is what got me interested in the viking era, and The Northman is a fantastic film!

It stars a lot of big names, including Alexander Skarsgård, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, and Björk.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Jumanji franchise (1995 & 2017)

After two kids come across a magical board game called Jumanji, they discover a man who’s trapped in the game and try to rescue him.

It’s a fun movie that’s sparked a more modern remake, and you can watch the original and remake on Crave!

In Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, four students get trapped in a magical video game during detention, and they get thrown into the world.

It’s hilarious, and the cast is awesome.

While the concept is the same as the 1995 film, the fact that it’s based in a video game makes it a lot different.

Both the 1995 and 2010s versions are great in their own ways!

2 films available on Crave, watch the trailers for the 1995 & 2017 movies

Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, dinosaurs live and hunt alongside humans around the world.

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum all star in Jurassic World Dominion, which is the third and final instalment of the Jurassic World trilogy!

You can also watch the second and third movies in the Jurassic Park trilogy and the first movie in the Jurassic World trilogy on Netflix.

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Oldboy (2003)

Oldboy is an absolutely wild film by acclaimed South Korean director, Park Chan-wook.

It tells the story of Dae-Su, an obnoxious drunk who gets abducted from the street one day, wakes up in a mysterious cell, and spends the next 15 years in solitude.

After he’s suddenly released by his captors, he tracks down his jailor to find out the truth.

I watched it almost a decade ago and was totally shocked by the twist.

It was just as crazy when I rewatched it recently!

It’s definitely not like any Korean dramas and it ain’t family-friendly at all 😛

The Woman King (2022)

In the 1800s, a group of incredibly-skilled, all-female warriors protect the West African kingdom of Dahomey.

When they’re faced with a new threat, General Nanisca trains the next generation of recruits to fight against a foreign enemy that’s determined to destroy their way of life.

Viola Davis stars in this historical action movie that’s based on real events!

No Time to Die (2021)

James Bond is enjoying a quiet life in Jamaica after leaving active service, but his peace is short-lived as his old CIA friend shows up asking for help.

The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist ends up being more treacherous than expected, leading Bond on the trail of a mysterious villain who’s armed with a dangerous new technology.

No Time to Die is Daniel Craig’s last movie as James Bond, and it also stars Rami Malek (from Mr. Robot on Prime Video).

1 film available on Crave, watch the trailer

Bourne franchise (2002-2012)

A former CIA agent named Jason Bourne suffers from amnesia, and he tries to discover his identity in the midst of a clandestine conspiracy within the CIA.

The Bourne franchise is a really great action series, and you can watch the first 4 out of 5 movies on Crave.

Matt Damon stars as Jason Bourne in the first 3 films, a former CIA agent with amnesia, searching for clues of his past.

The 4th movie stars Jeremy Renner as the main character, and Matt Damon returns for the 5th (which you can watch on Netflix).

4 films available on Crave, watch the trailer

John Wick (2014-2019)

After the dog his recently deceased wife gifted him is killed, retired hitman John Wick seeks vengeance from the mobsters.

I’m not typically into the action genre, but John Wick is a franchise I really like!

It also helps that we all know and love Keanu Reeves.

You can watch the first 3 movies on Crave, and the 4th movie is out in theatres (which stars Donnie Yen and Bill Skarsgård!)

3 films available on Crave, watch the trailer

Fast & Furious franchise (2001-2021)

The Fast & Furious franchise is one of my favourite action franchises of all-time, though I stopped watching it after the last movie starring Paul Walker.

I’m not really into cars, but it’s a fantastic franchise that’s still very entertaining for people who don’t care that much about cars.

8 of the movies in the franchise are available to stream on Crave, and the 7th movie, The Fate of the Furious, is the only one not available on Crave.

A new movie, Fast X, also came out in 2023!

7 films available on Crave, watch the trailer

Spider-Man franchises (2002-2017)

We all know and love Spider-Man, the friendly neighbourhood superhero who gets bitten by a spider and gains superhuman abilities.

You can watch all 3 of the original movies with Tobey Maguire (my fave Spider-Man), as well as the movies starring Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland as Spider-Man!

6 films available on Crave

Batman franchise (1989-2022)

While I’ve never been into the whole superhero thing, I do like Batman (with Christian Bale) and Spiderman (with Tobey Maguire).

If you’re into Batman, you can watch all the Batman movies from 1989 to 2022 on Crave.

The funny thing is that different actors play Batman in every single one of the live action films.

Personally, I think Christian Bale is my favourite Batman!

8 films available on Crave

Dune (1984 & 2021)

A gifted young man born into a great destiny must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his people.

You can watch both the original Dune film from 1984 or the 2021 remake on Crave.

The modern remake stars a bunch of big names, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa.

If you’re into shows like The 100 and Raised by Wolves, you’ll enjoy Dune!

Don’t Worry Darling (2022)

A seemingly-perfect young couple live in paradise in the utopian 1950s community of Victory.

All the men in this experimental company town go to work everyday on a top-secret project, while their wives enjoy the luxuries of utopia.

Meanwhile, something sinister lurks below the surface.

I do wish they’d explained some things more, but overall the film is a good watch!

Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pine, and Gemma Chan all star in Don’t Worry Darling.

There was actually a whole lot of controversy surrounding the film before it was released, with supposedly a lot of drama within the cast.

You can Google it, ’cause it’s a lot!

Barbarian (2022)

A young woman checks into her Airbnb and realizes it’s already being occupied by a stranger.

Against her better judgement, she decides to spend the night, and soon realizes there’s more to be terrified of than an unexpected houseguest.

Barbarian is one of the most terrifying horror films I’ve seen in a really long time, and it’s quite gory, so it ain’t for the faint of heart.

Bill Skarsgård and Justin Long both star in Barbarian!

Stanley Kubrick Exhibition at TIFF Bell Lightbox
An exhibit from The Shining at the Stanley Kubrick exhibition inside TIFF Bell Lightbox in 2015.

The Shining (1980)

The Shining is of course one of the most iconic horror movies ever made.

Even if you haven’t seen the film before, you’ll definitely recognize some of its most famous lines and scenes.

Jack Torrance moves his wife and young son into the Overlook Hotel, where they plan on taking care of it during the winter.

His son starts to get disturbing visions as Jack starts to discover the dark secrets behind the hotel.

There’s a sequel that came out in 2019 called Doctor Sleep, but tbh I don’t think it does the original film any justice.

It’s about the son, Danny, who’s now an adult haunted by his past.

There’s also a documentary called Room 237 that’s all about The Shining, and it’s really good!

The Last Night in Soho (2021)

A young fashion design student mysteriously transports to the 60s, where she encounters a glamorous aspiring singer.

While everything seems all glitz and glam at the start, things turn out to be darker than they seem.

Anya Taylor-Joy is incredible in The Last Night in Soho, and Matt Smith is also great!

The Forever Purge (2021)

Part of the popular Purge franchise, The Forever Purge is about a different set of people and how they deal with the infamous Purge.

If you don’t know what the fictional “Purge” is, it’s 12 hours when almost all crime is legal, in an effort to create a ~crime-free~ world the rest of the year.

In this one, a couple works for a wealthy family, and both families have to band together to fight off a masked gang of killers on the morning after the Purge.

Documentaries on Crave

Framing Britney Spears (2021)

You might’ve heard the news about Britney Spears’ father’s conservatorship over her life, and Framing Britney Spears goes into a deep dive about it.

I remember a lot of the things mentioned in the doc as a kid, and it’s really eye-opening hearing about them as an adult.

They also released a second part on Crave, Controlling Britney Spears, days before her court hearing (where her father was suspended as her conservator!)

Fake Famous (2021)

Three different people in Los Angeles with small followings get turned into influencers as a social experiment, which involves buying Instagram followers and taking “fake” photos.

While Fake Famous is a really interesting documentary to watch, it’s clearly very biased and not representative of the actual influencer world lol.

If you enjoy the documentary, you might also enjoy my opinion piece on why everyone wants to be Instagram famous.
