Looking for the best TV shows on Crave Canada to binge-watch this July 2024?
Whether you’re looking for some HBO gems or Showtime favourites, Crave has plenty of incredible TV series and shows worth binge-watching.
Even with all the streaming platforms out there, I definitely think Crave is worth subscribing to.
It’s also one of the few actual Canadian streaming services out there, and they offer Francophone versions of different TV shows as well!
There are plenty of excellent TV shows and movies on Crave, but I’ve selected the top ones that I personally think are worth sitting down and watching, rather than just having on in the background.
I watch a lot of TV in the background while I’m working, and if something’s really good, I’ll save it for when I can actively watch it lol.
If you’re looking for what to watch on Crave, you’ll definitely find some great TV shows and series that interest you on this list.
Here are some of the best TV shows on Crave Canada to binge-watch this July 2024, in my own personal opinion!
Be sure to also follow me on Instagram and TikTok – I share a lot more content on those platforms that don’t make it to the blog!

Best drama shows on Crave
The Handmaid’s Tale
The dystopian future nobody wants: where women are literally just baby machines.
In The Handmaid’s Tale, “handmaids” are fertile women who are forced into having children for “commanders” and their “wives”.
Women can’t read, work, or have anything of their own, or they’ll get punished (spoiler alert: it ain’t a pretty punishment).
Margaret Atwood (the writer) is a genius, and this series is definitely not for the faint of heart – it can be pretty hard to watch at times.
The interesting thing is that Atwood came out with the original novel back in the 80s, and she finally released the sequel novel in 2019!
The series has actually veered off from the book, and you can watch the whole thing on Crave (or Prime Video).
5 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Big Little Lies
Madeline, Celeste, and Jane are very different moms who become close friends, and get involved in a murder investigation that takes place in their town.
Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley play the main characters, with a bunch of other big names on the cast list as well.
Big Little Lies is funny, heart-warming, emotional, and at times uncomfortable, but it’s a great show worth watching.
It’s also based on a novel of the same name!
If you like this series, you’ll also enjoy Little Fires Everywhere on Prime Video, which also stars Reese Witherspoon.
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Sopranos
Italian-American mobster Tony Soprano balances family life with his role as the leader of a criminal organization, which he reluctantly explores during therapy sessions with a psychiatrist.
You can watch all six seasons of this iconic show on Crave, which is known to be one of the best series of all-time!
6 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Tokyo Vice
An American journalist plugs into the Tokyo Vice police squad and descends into the neon underbelly of Tokyo, taking on one of the city’s most notorious crime bosses.
Ansel Elgort stars as the lead in Tokyo Vice!
The series is actually based on a memoir by Jake Adelstein, who was the first non-Japanese reporter working at one of Japan’s largest newspapers.
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Scenes from a Marriage
If you’re looking for a feel-good series, this definitely ain’t it.
Scenes from a Marriage is a modern adaptation of a Swedish mini-series of the same name, and it’s about a marriage falling apart.
The HBO series is only 5 episodes long, and I couldn’t help but binge-watch it because it was so compelling.
Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain are both fantastic in it!
You can also watch the original 1974 mini-series on Crave, which has been compiled into one almost 3-hour film.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
I May Destroy You
After being assaulted in a nightclub, Arabella’s life changes forever.
I May Destroy You is a little hard to watch sometimes due to its mature subject matter, but it’s also powerful.
Michaela Coel is the creator and she plays the lead role, and the series is actually based on events from her life.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Euphoria
Euphoria follows a group of high school students as they experience sex, drugs, and life as a modern teenager.
It’s definitely not the reality for most high school students, but it’s still an interesting series to watch.
The show gets a lot of criticism because it’s a show about teens with a target demographic of adults (which I’ll admit is pretty uncomfortable), but it’s still a really great series to watch on Crave.
Growing up in the 2000s, I did experience the ups and downs of social media in high school, but it definitely was nowhere near as bad as it is today.
Zendaya is also incredible to watch as an actress in this series – especially in season two!
If you like Euphoria, you might also like the HBO Max Original Genera+ion, which is more like a comedic version of Euphoria (and it’s also on Crave).
2 seasons + 2 special episodes available on Crave, watch the trailer
American Gigolo
A former gigolo is exonerated 15 years after being arrested for a murder he didn’t commit, and he tries to figure out how he got framed while dealing with the troubles of his past.
It’s quite an emotional series with some really heartbreaking scenes, and it might be triggering for some people.
Jon Bernthal stars in American Gigolo, which is based on the 1980 movie of the same name!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Girlfriend Experience
Christine Reade is a second-year law student and a new intern at a prestigious company, whose life completely changes after a friend introduces her to the world of being an escort.
The Girlfriend Experience is an anthology series, with each season focusing on a different person’s life.
It’s a Starz original series and you’ll have to subscribe for an extra fee to watch the rest of the seasons, but the first season is available to stream with a Crave subscription!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
I Know This Much Is True
I Know This Much Is True is a heartbreaking HBO miniseries about identical twin brothers Dominic and Thomas.
Thomas has schizophrenia, and Dominic tries to get him out of an asylum while also navigating and reflecting on strained relationships in his own life.
This isn’t something to watch if you’re in the mood for something feel-good, because you’ll definitely be left feeling uneasy after every episode.
Also, Mark Ruffalo doesn’t actually have a twin in real life – he plays both Dominic and Thomas in the show!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Sharp Objects
Camille Preaker, a depressed and alcoholic reporter, returns to her hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls.
While back in her small hometown in Missouri, she also has to deal with the demons of her own past.
The show goes back and forth between the past and the present, giving us bits and pieces of Camille’s life.
The miniseries is based on the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn, who also wrote Gone Girl.
It’s a bit slow tbh, but it’s definitely worth watching all the way to the end!
Just like I Know This Much Is True, it’s also not a very feel-good one, so don’t watch if you’re in the mood for something more light-hearted.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Third Day
Sam visits a mysterious island near the British coast, where he meets a woman named Helen.
They both start to experience strange things on the island, all the while confiding in each other about their suffering in their real lives.
Jude Law stars in The Third Day, and Brad Pitt is one of the executive producers!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Killing Eve
In Killing Eve, a bored spy and a talented killer get caught in a game of cat-and-mouse, each completely obsessed with each other.
The series stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, who are both amazing!
4 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Best comedy shows on Crave
Insecure
Insecure is about two best friends, Issa and Molly, and how they navigate their careers and love lives.
It shows their awkward and uncomfortable experiences as black women in their 20s.
The creator and writer, Issa Rae, also stars as one of the main characters in this hilarious HBO series!
There’s also a documentary on Crave talking about the whole series, called Insecure: The End.
5 seasons + 1 documentary available on Crave, watch the trailer
Late Bloomer
Late Bloomer is a hilarious Crave Original series about burgeoning content creator Jasmeet, who tries to balance his ambitions for success alongside his commitment to his family, community, and culture.
YouTuber Jus Reign created and stars as the lead in this series, and it’s actually based on his own life!
Russell Peters is also an executive producer of the series.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Starstruck
Jessie is a millennial struggling between two jobs while living in an expensive London apartment with her best friend.
On New Year’s Eve, she hooks up with a stranger who turns out to be a famous actor.
I’m not typically a fan of UK shows or movies (mostly because I don’t always get the comedy lol), but I thought Starstruck was brilliant and hilarious.
Rose Matafeo is both the writer and star of the series, and it’s absolutely worth a watch.
It’s made up of 6 episodes that are about 20 minutes long each, so you can totally binge it in one sitting (like I did).
I also love how they cast a British South Asian actor as the romantic male lead – I find it so strange when shows set in big cities like London or Toronto don’t have diverse cast members or love interests.
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Sex Lives of College Girls
Four 18-year-olds navigate their new lives at the prestigious Essex College.
This show is so good and absolutely hilarious, and it feels kinda like the grown-up version of Never Have I Ever.
Mindy Kaling is the creator The Sex Lives of College Girls, and she also created Never Have I Ever on Netflix!
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
The White Lotus
The White Lotus is an anthology mini-series that follows the vacations of various privileged hotel guests as they interact with the hotel’s cheerful employees.
In the first season, a bunch of rich people (a newly-wed couple, a family, and a solo traveler) set off to a fancy Hawaii resort for a week in paradise, only to find out that it isn’t what they expected it to be.
A bunch of well-known names star in here, including Alexandra Daddario, Sydney Sweeney, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge.
The second season is set in Sicily, with Jennifer Coolidge reprising her role, and Theo James and Aubrey Plaza both also star in it.
It seems like season two got more attention than season one, but I personally loved season one more!
I absolutely love how anxiety-ridden this show is – it kind of gives me Parasite vibes (which you can watch on Netflix).
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Dollface
After Jules gets dumped by her long-term boyfriend, she tries to re-enter the world of women and rekindle the female friendships she left behind.
Dollface is hilarious, and it stars Kat Dennings, Brenda Song, and Shay Mitchell!
It sorta gives off Younger vibes, so it’s a pretty fun and feel-good show.
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Flight Attendant
Kaley Cuoco (from The Big Bang Theory and 8 Simple Rules) stars as a flight attendant who wakes up next to a dead man one morning in Bangkok with no memory of what happened the night before.
It’s more of a dark comedy-drama, if you’re in the mood for something a little dark and a little humorous.
The miniseries is based on a novel of the same name by Chris Bohjalian!
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Friends
Of course, we all know and love this classic sitcom of six friends navigating life and love together in New York City.
Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey are all very different people, but they’re all great friends.
Friends is another one of those shows you can watch over and over again without getting sick of it!
It’s also a great show to just have chillin’ in the background if you’ve already seen it a million times.
You can also watch Friends: The Reunion on Crave, which is sort of like an interview/documentary with all the cast members reminiscing their time on the show.
10 seasons + 1 special available on Crave
The Big Bang Theory
Four awkward friends have their lives turned upside down when they meet the beautiful and free-spirited Penny.
The Big Bang Theory is another great classic show, even though it’s a more recent one!
It’s also another great show to have on in the background if you’ve seen it already.
11 seasons available on Crave
Best reality TV shows on Crave
MasterChef Canada
Amateur cooks from across Canada compete for the title of MasterChef.
It’s an exciting cooking competition series, and it’s really cool to see home cooks improve with every dish they make.
If you like cooking at home yourself, you’ll enjoy watching the show!
Seasoned chefs Claudio Aprile (behind Copetin and Xango in Toronto), Michael Bonacini (behind the Oliver & Bonacini restaurant group), and Alvin Leung (behind R&D in Toronto’s Chinatown) judge the competitions.
I’ve only been to O&B’s restaurants, but now I’m eager to try the other chefs’ Toronto restaurants!
You can watch seasons 4 through 7 on Crave, as well as the All-Star Family Edition and Holiday specials.
4 seasons + 2 specials available on Crave
Temptation Island
Four strained couples separate from each other for 30 days to live with 12 single men and 12 single women.
The goal is to see if they truly want to be with their partner, and if they can be tempted outside of their relationship when their partner isn’t around.
I don’t know what it is about this show, but it’s just so interesting to watch – especially all the cringe-worthy moments.
I started watching it on my own, and Adam continued watching it with me because it was just so uncomfortable yet so interesting lol.
It’s fascinating to see how couples either grow apart or become stronger after the Temptation Island experience!
If you like Temptation Island, you might also like FBoy Island (also on Crave), though I didn’t enjoy it as much – it felt like everyone was on it to become Instagram famous (which is typical but felt more obvious in this one).
5 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
12 Dates of Christmas
This ain’t no Hallmark movie, it’s (sort of) real life.
Three singles meet different love interests with the goal of finding someone to take home for the holidays.
If you’re a fan of the Netflix series Love is Blind, you’ll enjoy watching 12 Dates of Christmas, which is by the same creators.
It’s cheesy and totally not realistic at all, but it’s still a fun watch especially during the holiday season!
You can watch two seasons of 12 Dates of Christmas on Crave Canada, though I definitely enjoyed the first season more as the second one was super messy.
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Catfish
By now, we all know what the term “catfish” means.
Nev Schulman and Max Joseph help people find out whether their online relationships are real, or whether the person on the other side of the screen is a catfish.
The show is actually based on the documentary film of the same name from 2010, and no one really knows if it’s real or fake.
Only the first season of the show is available to stream on Crave.
There’s also a great holiday rom-com on Netflix Canada called Love Hard, which is about a girl who meets a guy on a dating app and surprises him for Christmas, only to find out he’s a catfish.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Best romance shows on Crave
Sex and the City
Sex and the City is one of those shows you re-watch over and over again without ever getting bored of it.
Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte are four successful and single women in New York trying to find love (and sex).
The first time I watched the series, I admired Carrie so much as a freelance writer myself, but I found her so selfish and annoying after watching the show a second time.
Anyway, it’s still a hilarious and fun show to watch, even if there are some cringe-worthy moments that could never be shown on modern television.
6 seasons available on Crave
And Just Like That…
They rebooted SATC almost two decades later, but tbh And Just Like That… is nothing like the original series.
And Just Like That… is all about the women now living life in their 50s, except Samantha is missing because of IRL drama (Sarah Jessica Parker apparently bullied Kim Cattrall during the original series).
I just don’t think it’s the same without Samantha!
You probably will cry during the first episode of season one, but everything about the whole show feels so forced.
Aidan will be starring in season two (say what?!), so at least there’s something to look forward to!
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Love Life
Love Life is an anthology series about exactly what you think it is: a person’s love life.
Each season is about a different person (though they’re connected in some way), navigating their first loves to their very last ones.
I love that the show is very diverse and realistic, especially with it being based out of NYC.
Anna Kendrick stars in the first season, and a little bit in the second season!
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Best action & adventure shows on Crave
Warrior
If you’re into martial arts movies, you’ll definitely enjoy the HBO series Warrior.
Ah Sahm is a young martial arts prodigy who arrives from China to San Francisco in the 1800s.
While in search of his missing sister, he gets caught up in the Chinatown Tong wars (which actually happened in history).
They also speak some Cantonese in the show, which is great for me since I’m trying to become fluent (as I mentioned in my 30 before 30 list).
The series is based on a Bruce Lee concept from back in the 70’s, and his daughter, Shannon Lee, is an executive producer of the show!
3 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
His Dark Materials
While searching for her missing friend, an orphan named Lyra uncovers a sinister plot involving more missing children in the alternate universe she’s living in.
His Dark Materials is based on the famous fantasy trilogy by Philip Pullman!
3 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Best crime & mystery shows on Crave
Mare of Easttown
A detective from a small town in Pennsylvania tries her best to prevent her life from falling apart while investigating a mysterious murder.
It’s only 7 episodes long, but every episode is super intense and suspenseful.
Kate Winslet, Guy Pearce, and Evan Peters all star in Mare of Easttown!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Your Honor
A respected New Orleans judge is forced to make difficult decisions when his son is involved in a hit-and-run accident.
Bryan Cranston stars in Your Honor, and he’s just as incredible as he is in Breaking Bad (which is on Netflix).
If you’re into crime-drama shows, you’ll definitely enjoy watching Your Honor on Crave!
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Undoing
Nicole Kidman stars in another HBO series called The Undoing, which you’ll also enjoy if you liked Big Little Lies.
A therapist’s world falls apart when she discovers her husband is potentially involved with the murder of a fellow parent at their son’s private school.
The first episode is a little slow and the ending is underwhelming, but the series overall is still a pretty good watch!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Love & Death
I didn’t love Love & Death after the first episode (mostly because I hate watching people cheat), but I was hooked after the next episodes.
I also had no idea it was based on a true case until about halfway through the miniseries.
It tells the story of Candy Montgomery, a quiet housewife who decides to have an affair with her neighbour.
The relationship spirals out of control when her lover’s wife is found dead, and all suspicion falls on her.
The miniseries stars Elizabeth Olsen (sibling to Mary-Kate and Ashley!), Lily Rabe, Jesse Plemons, and Krysten Ritter.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
American Rust
A small town police chief is forced to decide what he’s willing to do when the son of the woman he loves is accused of murder.
American Rust starts off a bit slow, but it does get interesting as the show goes on!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Staircase
Based on a true crime docuseries of the same name, this drama miniseries explores the life of writer Michael Peterson, his family, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson.
A bunch of well-known names star in The Staircase, including Colin Firth, Toni Collette, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Sophie Turner.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Best sci-fi & fantasy shows on Crave
Game of Thrones
Do I even need to say anything about Game of Thrones?
GoT is undoubtedly one of the best television series of all-time, despite everyone hating the unnecessarily rushed last season (including moi).
If you don’t already know what it’s about, it’s basically a bunch of noble families fighting for control over the fictional kingdom of Westeros.
At the same time, a mysterious force threatens to wipe out all of mankind.
The TV series actually went beyond the book series, and I don’t think George R. R. Martin plans on finishing the rest of the books, which is unfortunate.
They filmed Game of Thrones in a lot of cool destinations, and Adam and I visited quite a few when we visited Ireland and Iceland!
8 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
House of the Dragon
Although a lot of us weren’t fans of the last season of Game of Thrones, at least we can delve back into the universe with the spinoff prequel, House of the Dragon.
It actually drew in almost 10 million viewers for its season premiere, making it HBO’s highest-viewed season premiere ever!
It’s set almost 200 years before the events portrayed in the original Game of Thrones, and it tells the story of the Targaryen civil war.
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Westworld
Westworld is an adult “amusement park” where rich people come to play out their fantasies with humanistic robots.
As you can guess, the robots start to become more human-like, and they consciously remember the things that happened to them over and over again.
Seasons 1 and 3 of Westworld were epic, but I wasn’t really feeling seasons 2 or 4 as much.
If you like Westworld, you’ll also like the sci-fi film Ex Machina, available on Amazon Prime Video.
4 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Orphan Black
After witnessing a woman’s suicide, Sarah assumes the stranger’s identity, who somehow looks exactly like her.
She’s thrust into a rabbit hole where she discovers that she and the woman are actually clones.
Tatiana Maslany stars as the clones in Orphan Black, and she’s amazing!
5 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Man Who Fell to Earth
An alien crashes into earth with a mission to find brilliant scientist Justin Falls, the one woman who can help save his species.
Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris are both fantastic actors, and they’re a great duo.
The Man Who Fell to Earth is actually a remake of the 1976 film of the same name starring David Bowie!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Lovecraft Country
In 1950s Jim Crow America, Tic Freeman travels across the country in search of his missing father.
Between the racist terrors of white America and the freakishly terrifying monsters, Tic gets a lot more than he bargained for.
Lovecraft Country is based on a novel of the same name by Matt Ruff!
Jordan Peele (the genius director of Get Out and Us) is also an executive producer of the show, which is pretty cool.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Raised by Wolves
Two androids are tasked with raising children on a new planet after earth is destroyed by war.
It’s a pretty gory show, so be warned if ya watch.
Ridley Scott (Alien, Prometheus, The Martian) directed the first two episodes of Raised by Wolves and serves as an executive producer of the show!
If you’ve seen Vikings (a series on Netflix), you might also recognize the actor who plays Ragnar Lothbrok.
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Best horror shows on Crave
True Blood
In True Blood, humans and vampires are trying to co-exist with one another in peace.
Sookie Stackhouse is a human with the ability to read minds, and she falls in love with a vampire named Bill Compton.
The super cute thing about this show is that Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (the actors who play the main characters) are married with children in real life – SO CUTE.
If you love the show, there’s now a podcast called Truest Blood, where Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica) and Kristin Bauer (Pam) share true stories from behind the production of True Blood!
7 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Outsider
Any Stephen King fans out here?
After a little boy is brutally murdered in a small town, supernatural things start to happen that make investigators question their beliefs.
As it is Stephen King, it gets really dark, so don’t watch if you don’t like hearing about little boys getting brutally murdered.
The Outsider is a horror series based on the novel of the same name.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
The Last of Us
A mass fungal infection breaks out, turning people into cannibalistic creatures and causing a global pandemic.
20 years later, smuggler Joel transports teenage Ellie across a post-outbreak America, and she may be humanity’s last hope.
The Last of Us is actually based on a video game, and a lot of the camera angles in the show are very video game-esque!
The show really focuses more on the people rather than the creatures, and it’s actually quite emotional – have some tissues on-hand.
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer
Yellowjackets
25 years after being rescued from a plane crash in the Ontario wilderness, secrets start to unravel from the surviving members of a talented high school soccer team.
Yellowjackets has some pretty gruesome scenes early on (hint: cannibalism), so it ain’t for the faint of heart.
Christina Ricci stars as the adult version of one of the surviving teenagers!
I found it pretty suspenseful, but I felt like we knew just as little about the whole situation by the end of the first season as we did in the beginning.
It’s not based on a true story, but it’s definitely inspired by the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 incident – there’s actually a movie based on the real story called Alive, featuring Ethan Hawke.
If you enjoy Yellowjackets, you might also enjoy The Wilds on Prime Video (though only season 1 is worth watching).
2 seasons available on Crave, watch the trailer
Let the Right One In
A child vampire is forever stuck at the age of 12, and she relies on her single father to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive.
Let the Right One In is actually based on a novel of the same name!
1 season available on Crave, watch the trailer

Really good show
Brotherhood… Excellent if you enjoyed Sopranos, this is the ticket.
Hudson & Rex!
I’m just trying to be helpful, so don’t take it wrong when I tell you… 62 is far too many exclamation marks. That makes it hard to concentrate on what you write when looking for the next !
