What to know about the Aberfoyle Antique Market
What is the Aberfoyle Antique Market?
The Aberfoyle Antique Market is Canada’s oldest antique market, as well as Canada’s largest outdoor antique market.
You can shop all kinds of unique vintage and antique items from over 100 different vendors, including old license plates, vintage diner stools, and antique chinaware.
The market has been going on for over 60 years now, which is pretty amazing!
Aside from their weekly Sunday market, they also host two Saturday shows every year, where they bring in another 90 vendors.
When does the Aberfoyle Antique Market open?
The Aberfoyle Antique Market opens every Sunday from the end of April through the end of October from 8 AM to 4 PM.
The exact dates this year are April 30th, 2023 to October 29th, 2023.
How much is admission to the Aberfoyle Antique Market?
Admission is $5 per person, which you can pay by cash or card, and parking is free.
You can get optional stamps on your hands for in-and-out privileges, which I’d definitely recommend so you can enjoy dining in and exploring Guelph.
Is the Aberfoyle Antique Market dog-friendly?
You can bring your well-behaved dog on a short leash, and make sure to pick up any poop!
Some of the vendors even have their own doggos manning their booths.
The market does have the right to ask you to remove your dog from the property, so please be respectful!
Visiting the Aberfoyle Antique Market
There are over 100 vendors to explore at the Aberfoyle Antique Market, so you likely won’t be able to see everything in one day.
Some vendors also only attend the market on a week-by-week basis, so it’s definitely worth coming back again!
I’d definitely recommend starting off early in the morning before it gets busy at the market, and so you get a decent parking spot.
There are so many beautiful vintage pieces and cool antique items hidden away in every corner, and it’s honestly so tempting to buy so many things.
Here’s a little peep at the types of items you can expect to find at the Aberfoyle Antique Market.
Antique furniture and home decor
I’d highly recommend peeping out all the unique and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces.
We purchased a wood bench with repurposed industrial pipes as the legs last year, and it’s the most unique furniture piece we have in our home!
I believe it cost us somewhere around $120, and wood benches we were eyeing in actual furniture stores were significantly more expensive.
You’ll also find plenty of vintage chinaware and glassware at a fraction of the cost of what you’d find in other stores.
I really want a vintage teacup set myself, but I’d only want it as decor and I have nowhere to display it in our tiny condo!
Antique artwork
There are tons of vendors selling antique posters, artwork, and more at the market.
I saw a really nice, decades-old map of Toronto last time we visited, but I wasn’t sure where I’d put it. Sadly, I didn’t get it!
Vintage clothing
There aren’t a ton of vintage clothing vendors at the market, but you will find some!
You’ll also find vendors selling vintage jewelry, footwear, and accessories.
Fun and novelty items
You’ll also find all kinds of cool items like old school radios, vintage magazines and posters, and more.
If you’re a big collector, you might enjoy taking a peek at all the Cabbage Patch Kids, Beanie Babies, old school Happy Meal toys, and more.
Aberfoyle Antique Market: is it worth visiting?
The Aberfoyle Antique Market is pretty huge, so it’ll definitely be a little bit overwhelming walking around for the first time.
But, once you visit for the first time, you’ll know exactly what kind of vendors and what sorts of items you’re interested in for your next visit.
It’s so much fun to explore, whether you’re traveling solo, visiting with your S/O, or wandering around with your friends.
Another awesome thing about the market is that it’s super cute and Instagrammable… Which is also very important, right?
