Lunar New Year and Chinese New Year outfit ideas for 2025
Turtleneck: UNIQLO | Skirt: Aritzia (old) | Tights: Sheertex | Boots: Dr. Martens

Red sweater + black mini skirt

Go for a classic sweater and mini skirt combo, which is always super cute and perfect for any Friendsmas celebrations.

Keep it festive by wearing a red or green sweater!

I’m wearing Dr. Martens Jadon Boots for a more edgy look, but you can wear knee-high leather boots (like these Dolce Vita boots) for a sleeker look.

I adore these Sheertex tights, which are nearly impossible to break, so you can wear them many times instead of just once!

Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto (AGO)
Top: Aritzia (old, similar from Aritzia) | Skirt: vintage (similar from Revolve) | Boots: Jeffrey Campbell (old, similar from Jeffrey Campbell)

Black top + red skirt

Instead of a red top and black skirt, a black top with a red skirt works as well!

I absolutely adore this vintage red leather skirt I got here in Toronto, and I made it the star of the show by pairing it with a simple black turtleneck and black Chelsea booties.

Sadly, the vintage store I got the skirt from closed down, but there are plenty of amazing vintage clothing stores in Toronto where you can find unique pieces like this!

I also found a very similar skirt from House of Harlow on Revolve, though it is vegan leather.

And of course, a forest green or gold mini skirt would be perfect for the holidays as well!

Fall outfit in the Distillery District, Toronto
Turtleneck: Aritzia (old, similar from Aritzia) | Jeans: MINKPINK (old) | Booties: Aldo (old, similar from Coach)

Turtleneck + jeans + red booties

If you typically wear more neutral clothing, try wearing festive-coloured footwear instead!

A pair of bold red booties or shoes can easily be paired with any casual outfit like a turtleneck with blue jeans.

I’m wearing an old pair of booties from Aldo, but this pair from Coach is quite similar!

This fit is perfect for a more relaxed but festive look for any casual holiday gatherings.

Lunar New Year and Chinese New Year outfit ideas for 2025
Turtleneck: UNIQLO | Dress: Aritzia (old, similar from Aritzia)

Red turtleneck + slip skirt

An easy elevated fall/winter outfit combo is a turtleneck paired with a midi slip skirt, and I went for a red turtleneck for the holidays.

Any jewel toned colours would also work, like royal blue or pine green!

And you can even do a neutral-coloured turtleneck with a festive-coloured skirt.

I’m actually wearing an Aritzia slip dress (similar here) that I folded into a skirt, but they do have an actual slip skirt version.

You can throw on some sleek black heels or comfy black booties to finish off the look!

Lunar New Year and Chinese New Year outfit ideas for 2025
Turtleneck: UNIQLO | Dress: Aritzia (old, similar from Aritzia) | Booties: Poppy Barley | Bag: JW PEI

Red turtleneck + slip dress

I adore wearing slip dresses because they’re so versatile for any occasion.

And the best part of wearing looser dresses like this? You’ll still be able to breathe after all of the holiday eats!

I layered this black midi slip dress from Aritzia (similar here) on top of this red turtleneck from UNIQLO.

Of course, you’ve gotta add some red lipstick to finish off the look!

I also paired the outfit with this crossbody bag from JW PEI and black booties from Poppy Barley.

Lunar New Year & Chinese New Year outfit ideas | Aritzia black wrap top + gold pleated midi skirt + Aldo knee high boots
Top: Aritzia (old, similar from Aritzia) | Skirt: M Boutique (old, similar from Aritzia) | Boots: Aldo (old, similar from Aldo)

Black top + gold midi skirt

Metallic colours are also perfect for the holiday season, and you can even re-wear for New Year’s celebrations.

You can’t go wrong with black and gold together, and it makes the gold stand out even more!

I’m wearing a wrap top with a gold midi skirt and some knee-high boots.

And if you’re not a gold girlie, you could also opt for silver instead!

Winter outfit idea featuring American Apparel red beanie, Aritzia turtleneck sweater midi dress, Mackage black leather jacket, and Michael Kors booties
Beanie: American Apparel (old) | Dress: Aritzia (old, similar from Aritzia) | Jacket: Mackage (old, similar from Coach) | Booties: Steve Madden (old, similar from Steve Madden)

Red beanie + turtleneck dress

If you don’t really have any red or green pieces of clothing, you can throw on a colourful hat or beanie over a neutral outfit.

I’m wearing a simple grey turtleneck dress with a leather jacket and black booties, and of course, a red beanie!

This is one of my go-to fall/winter outfits because it’s so easy but still put-together.

Holiday outfit - Wilfred only slip dress, Zara blazer
Dress: Aritzia (old, similar from Quince) | Blazer: Zara (thrifted) | Bag: JW PEI

Red dress + blazer

A black slip dress is, of course, a must for your wardrobe, but a red slip dress can actually be very versatile as well.

You can wear it for the holidays, Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, and beyond!

And like I showed earlier, you can turn it into a skirt to make it even more versatile.

I threw on a thrifted blazer from Zara to make it a little more profesh for a work holiday party!

Selkie The Ivory Bebe Bloom Dress
Dress: Selkie (old, similar from Selkie) | Bag: Staud | Shoes: Dolce Vita

Little white dress

If you’ve got a dressier holiday party to attend, go for winter fairy princess vibes with a little white dress.

I actually bought this dress with the intention of wearing it to wedding events, but I never got to, and I got to wear it to a party this year!

The Staud bag and Dolce Vita heels were also from my wedding 🙂

House of CB Lulu Dress
Dress: House of CB | Bag: Staud | Shoes: Dolce Vita

Red dress

An elegant red dress is perfect for any fancy holiday occasions, and you can pair it with gold or white accessories.

I’m wearing this stunning dress from House of CB, and you can even wear a pair of Sheertex tights underneath and a blazer over to make it a bit more conservative!

Hopefully this gave you some inspo on what to wear this holiday season!

Whatever your plans are, I hope you have an incredible holiday season and new year 🙂
