Where to stay in Vancouver
If you’re looking to book your flights and hotels for Vancouver, I’d recommend booking on Expedia, so you can collect points towards free rewards and discounts!
Downtown Vancouver is very walkable, so it’s worth booking a stay in the downtown area.
Here are some of the best hotels in downtown Vancouver to stay at:
- Delta Hotels by Marriott Vancouver ($)
- Hilton Vancouver Downtown ($)
- Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver ($$)
- Fairmont Pacific Rim ($$$)
We’ve also stayed at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport, which is a great option if you have a car rental (which we usually book on Expedia).
The areas surrounding Vancouver are also worth visiting, so I’d highly recommend booking a car rental for at least one or two days!
Airbnbs are a great budget-friendly alternative, especially if you stay in Burnaby or Richmond.
If you’re interested in staying in Airbnbs, I have a separate blog post all about how to find the best Airbnbs!
Best dessert spots in Vancouver
Mister Artisan Ice Cream
I tried liquid nitrogen ice cream for the first time ever at Mister’s, and it was really good, but hella expensive.
They switch up their menu from time to time, and the lavender crème brûlée and Thai iced tea flavours I tried were amazing.
Definitely the perfect spot in Vancouver to visit for ice cream lovers!
LOCATION: 1141 Mainland St, Vancouver, BC | Website
La Casa Gelato
La Casa Gelato has over 238 flavours of gelato at their shop – pretty insane, right?
It’s the only place in the whole world with this many gelato flavours.
They have really unique and different flavours, including everything from dragonfruit, to durian, to wasabi (yep, you heard that right).
You can sample flavours to make sure you’re not stuck eating a whole cup of funky gelato you don’t like, but make sure to keep the samples to a minimum!
LOCATION: 1033 Venables St, Vancouver, BC | Website
Soft Peaks Ice Cream
Soft Peaks is the first ever organic soft serve ice cream spot in Vancouver, and they’re located right in Gastown.
They use organic milk to make their soft serve, and they use local ingredients for all their different ice cream toppings!
If you’re looking for more fun stuff in the Gastown neighbourhood, I’ve got a blog post all about things to do in Gastown.
LOCATION: 25 Alexander St, Vancouver, BC | Website
Artisan Sakemaker
Artisan Sakemaker handcrafts small-batch sake in Vancouver, and they’re actually the first local producer of fresh, premium sake.
They use 100% Canadian ingredients in their sake, and you can do tastings at their Granville Island shop!
Why are they on this list of dessert spots in Vancouver?
Well, they have sake ice cream, and yep, it’s as amazing as it sounds.
P.S. If you’re a big foodie, you might enjoy this food walking tour at Granville Island Public Market with an off-duty chef!
LOCATION: 1339 Railspur Alley, Vancouver, BC
Shiny Tea
If you’re into bubble tea and Asian-flavoured ice cream, definitely pay a visit to Shiny Tea.
I don’t remember what flavour of soft serve I got, but I think the menu changes often so it doesn’t matter anyways.
LOCATION: Various locations | Website
Dragon Ball Tea House
Dragon Ball Tea House is a small family-run bubble tea shop in Vancouver, and it’s one of the best spots to grab BBT in the city.
My sister and I came here right when they opened, and there was already a bunch of people arriving at opening!
LOCATION: 1007 W King Edward Ave, Vancouver, BC | Website
Meet Fresh Canada
Meet Fresh is a Taiwanese dessert chain, and they’ve got one location in downtown Vancouver.
They have taro balls, grass jelly, tofu pudding, and so many more amazing Taiwanese desserts!
LOCATION: 1232 Robson St, Vancouver, BC | Website
Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake
Looking to get your fix of authentic Japanese cheesecake in Vancouver?
Uncle Tetsu is a Japanese dessert chain with locations in downtown Vancouver and at Metrotown in Burnaby.
If you don’t know what Japanese cheesecakes are, they have more of a spongey and pastry-like texture, and they’re not as sweet as the typical American cheesecake.
LOCATION: Various locations | Website
Cartems Donuterie
If funky donut flavours are your thing, Cartems is your place.
Pictured here are the earl grey and honey parmesan donuts. The earl grey is awesome, but the honey parmesan is a little too unique for my taste.

Ladurée Vancouver
Ladurée is a famous French bakery that’s all about their macarons.
Their Vancouver shop was the first location in Canada, and you can find all kinds of delicious treats and drinks.
The macarons are the perfect mix of slightly crunchy on the outside and decadently soft on the inside, and they’re so good.
If you’re interested in taking a piece of Paris home with you, they also have a variety of things like jams, perfumes, and candles for sale.
Next on my bucket list: a visit to Ladurée in Paris.
