Where to stay in Vancouver
If you’re looking to book your flights and hotels for Vancouver, I’d recommend booking on Expedia, so you can collect points towards free rewards and discounts!
Downtown Vancouver is very walkable, so it’s worth booking a stay in the downtown area.
Here are some of the best hotels in downtown Vancouver to stay at:
- Delta Hotels by Marriott Vancouver ($)
- Hilton Vancouver Downtown ($)
- Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver ($$)
- Fairmont Pacific Rim ($$$)
We’ve also stayed at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport, which is a great option if you have a car rental (which we usually book on Expedia).
The areas surrounding Vancouver are also worth visiting, so I’d highly recommend booking a car rental for at least one or two days!
Airbnbs are a great budget-friendly alternative, especially if you stay in Burnaby or Richmond.
If you’re interested in staying in Airbnbs, I have a separate blog post all about how to find the best Airbnbs!
Best things to do in North Vancouver
1. Breakfast at BjornBar Bakery
BjornBar is located on a cute little street in North Vancouver filled with shops and restaurants.
Their coffees and pastries are absolutely incredible, so you’ll definitely want to start off your day with breakfast here.
It gets busy with locals and tourists, so definitely try to avoid the crowds that come later in the day!
LOCATION: 102-3053 Edgemont Blvd, North Vancouver, BC | Website
2. Wander through Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
In order to avoid the crowds as much as possible, arrive at Capilano as soon as (or even before) it opens.
The suspension bridge and treetops are cool to see, but there’s also a mountain walk you can’t miss on your way out.
If you visit during the winter season, you’ll be able to catch Capilano surrounded by all the beautiful holiday lights!
LOCATION: 3735 Capilano Rd, North Vancouver, BC
3. Make a stop at Cleveland Park
Cleveland Park is a lovely little area worth stopping in North Vancouver.
You can bring a little picnic to have lunch here, or simply walk around and enjoy the gorgeous mountainous views.
If you visit during the warmer months, you can see the dam in action!
LOCATION: Cleveland Park, North Vancouver, BC | Website
4. Head up Grouse Mountain
From skiing in the winter to paragliding in the summer, there are plenty of fun activities to do in Grouse Mountain.
You have to take a gondola to get to the top, and the views are absolutely gorgeous.
You can also do a guided tour that takes you to both Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension Bridge Park!
LOCATION: Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver, BC
5. Hike through Lynn Canyon Park
Lynn Canyon is often compared to Capilano, but I personally think they’re very different, and you should do them both if you have the time.
Since it’s free to visit, the suspension bridge will pretty much always be busy, but hike around the trails and it’ll be a lot more peaceful.
LOCATION: 3690 Park Rd, North Vancouver, BC | Website
6. Explore the Lonsdale Quay Market
Located in North Vancouver, Lonsdale Quay gives you stunning views of downtown Vancouver’s skyline.
While you’re here, be sure to check out the Lonsdale Quay Market for local eats and souvenir shopping!
LOCATION: Lonsdale Quay, North Vancouver, BC | Website
7. Walk through Fun Alley
Fun Alley is a colourful alleyway filled with bright murals.
It’s not that long an alleyway, but it’s still a cute spot to make a quick photo stop while you’re out in North Vancouver.
It’s definitely one of the most Instagram-worthy spots in Vancouver!
