And ain’t no summer in Toronto complete without paying a visit to the CNE, and eating weird foods is one of the best parts of visiting.
Summer may be coming to an end, but at least we can end it while riding a gondola into the sunset and eating bacon-covered desserts.

Last year I was really badass and I won myself a jumbo Pikachu on my first try (here’s a photo), and this year Adam and I are seeing who can win the other person prizes.
I’m usually pretty open to trying new things when it comes to food, and I’m always excited to try all the weird foods the CNE has to offer.
The CNE is coming back this Friday, and here are all of the crazy and weird foods you need to try!
Be sure to also follow me on Instagram and TikTok – I share a lot more content on those platforms that don’t make it to the blog!

Weird foods to eat at the CNE

1. Cinnamon Rolls from Howie’s Cinnamon Rolls
As unpleasant as these may sound, they’re definitely worth the try.
These savoury cinnamon rolls from Howie’s Cinnamon Rolls feature either bacon, pulled pork, or both, along with sugary frosting.
Bacon seems to be a huge trend on this year’s menu.

2. Bug Dogs from Bug Bistro
I know I said I’m open to trying new things, but I wasn’t brave enough to try these crispy mustard cricket-covered hot dogs.
If you are, check out these Bug Dogs from Bug Bistro.

3. Cartoon Dog from Maggie’s
Feel like a kid again with this deep-fried, bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with Capt’n Crunch cereal, peanut butter, jam, and spicy mayo.

4. Churro Burgers from Epic Burgers & Waffles and I Love Churros
Churros are my second true love.
Burgers are another love of mine.
Married together, they’re the perfect boyfriend.

5. Ice Cream from Just Cone It
Seeing the bacon on this cone kind of weirded me out, but it tastes better than it sounds.
Bacon surprisingly tastes good on desserts!
The cone also has cotton candy on it and it tastes amazing.

6. Spam Double Down from Miami Press
Miami Press is one of the places you 100% have to pay a visit to this year.
They’ve got a bunch of delicious things on their menu, including a Spam Double Down, tater tots, and a root beer-flavoured burger.
The Double Down was my absolute favourite.

7. Dessert Nachos from Nacho Libre
Love nachos?
You’ll love these nachos.
These dessert nachos are topped with bananas, strawberry puree, and Nutella.

8. Fried Pig Ear Sandwich from Farm to Fryer
Pig ears are a regular food item in Chinese cuisine, so it wasn’t that weird for me.
Adam found it pretty weird, but we both enjoyed the sandwich.
They also had a sweet potato pie that was sweet and delicious, and the bacon on top made it even more delicious.

9. Cotton Candy and Jolly Rancher Chills from Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons is winning the game at this year’s CNE.
The Cotton Candy Chill was my fave, but the Jolly Rancher Chill was really good as well.
The Jolly Rancher donut is def also a must-try if you’ve got a super sweet tooth!

10. Philly Steaklair from Philthy Philly’s
Brave enough to try this dessert-lunch?
The Philthy Philly’s combined a steak and cheese sandwich with an eclair to create the Philly Steaklair.
It’s even got chocolate icing and whipped cream to top it off.

The CNE is always exciting to visit, and you’ve always gotta try at least one weird food item while you’re there.
Do you go to the CNE to eat any of the weird foods? Will you be trying any of these dishes? Let me know on Twitter or Instagram!
