10 Best Farmers’ Markets in York Region

10 Best Farmers’ Markets in York Region

On the hunt for the best farmers’ markets in York Region to visit before the weather cools down?

Adam and I hopped between a few different York Region farmers’ markets last weekend, and we had so much fun.

So much fun, in fact, that I think we’ve become farmers’ market people… Is this what it’s like to grow up? I ain’t complainin’, though.

We honestly always had this idea in our heads that farmers’ markets were just filled with produce, but there’s actually more than just that.

You’ll also find locally-made goodies like pantry items, accessories, and home goods!

Without further ado, here are some of the best farmers’ markets to visit across York Region.

Be sure to also follow me on Instagram and TikTok – I share a lot more content on those platforms that don’t make it to the blog!

Newmarket Farmers’ Market

You’ll find everything from handcrafted soaps and candles to locally-made sauces and condiments at the Newmarket Farmers’ Market.

The beef patties from Tweedy’s Jamaican Patties are absolutely delicious, and you’ll definitely want to head over to Main Street to grab the best butter tarts in Ontario at The Maid’s Cottage.

The market happens at Riverwalk Commons, a lovely recreational area in Newmarket home to a summer splash pad/winter skating rink, a story pod where you can borrow free books, and more!

They even have live musicians performing at the market, which makes it feel all the nicer.

There’s plenty of parking at Riverwalk Commons, but you can also park next door at Fairy Lake and walk over.

Check the market out every Saturday from the first weekend of May to the last weekend of October!

These peameal sandwiches at the Aurora Farmers’ Market were amazing.

Aurora Farmers’ Market

The Aurora Farmers’ Market is another large farmer’s market and artisan fair in York Region, with plenty of things to shop and plenty of bites to eat.

Take your time walking through the market and stopping by the tents of local farmers, food vendors, and artisans!

Adam and I shared a peameal bacon sandwich from one of the food vendors, and it was absolutely delicious.

We also loved the samosas from The Hot Spot Samosas – chicken was my fave and beef was Adam’s.

Ginger cookie from Aurora Farmers' Market in Aurora, Ontario
The famous ginger cookie from Catharina’s Kitchen at the Aurora Farmers’ Market.

For dessert, we tried the famous ginger cookie from Catharina’s Kitchen (at the recommendation of another customer), and it was so good – it was very gingery and had a nice spicy kick to it!

There’s also live music right in the middle of the park, perfect for enjoying while grabbing a bite to eat.

The Aurora Farmers’ Market is probably my favourite out of all the farmers’ markets in York Region, but that might just be because we spent the most time there.

It happens at the Town Park in Aurora every Saturday from the first weekend of May to the last weekend of October!
