Ginza Sushi Express in Richmond Hill, Ontario

Ginza Sushi Express

Ginza Sushi Express serves all the typical sushi rolls we know and love (and they’re huge!), and their platters are a great deal.

I also love how fresh their sashimi is, and the variety in their platters.

They’ve actually been around around for almost 3 decades, and you can find them by Bayview & Elgin Mills.

There actually isn’t any seating inside the restaurant – it’s just a takeout spot (hence the “express” in the name).

LOCATION: 10800 Bayview Ave, Block B Unit 6, Richmond Hill, ON

Unome Sushi in Richmond Hill, Ontario

Unome Sushi

You’ll find Unome at Bathurst and Rutherford, and they serve up delicious sushi rolls and fresh sashimi in their bright and airy space.

I love that they serve up their sushi on wooden cheeseboards – it’s v ~aesthetic~.

I also love that they have the little booths that can be closed off with curtains if you’re looking to have a lil’ more privacy.

LOCATION: 9301 Bathurst St Unit 7, Richmond Hill, ON

The Flying Fish in Richmond Hill, Ontario

The Flying Fish

The Flying Fish is a Japanese fusion restaurant serving up a delicious menu of wafu pasta, nori tacos, and sushi.

Wafu pasta is Japanese-style spaghetti, and choose between options like their Wasabi Cream Carbonara or Spicy Rose Cream Seafood Pasta.

Their nori tacos are basically deconstructed sushi rolls stuffed inside crispy seaweed shells, and you can choose between options like their Seared Spicy Salmon Sashimi Taco or their Beef Bulgogi Taco.

Their omakase sushi boxes are what you’ll want to try, and most of their fish is sourced from Japan.

Their lunch specials are also quite good, and we love the TFF Plate – the Double Shrimp oshi sushi is heavenly, and the pieces of fish on the nigiri are thick and fresh.

You can find The Flying Fish on Highway 7 near Bayview Avenue, sort of in an obscure plaza!

MI-NE Japanese Restaurant

MI-NE serves up some of the best sushi in Richmond Hill, and they’re located by Yonge & Elgin Mills.

Most sushi places in Richmond Hill don’t have aburi sushi, but MI-NE has a few options, including an Aburi Sushi Appetizer with 6 pieces of 3 different aburi sushi.

They also have a huge menu of lunch specials if you’re visiting during the week!

LOCATION: 10815 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, ON

Sashimi boat from Senbazuru Sushi Bar in Richmond Hill

Senbazuru Sushi Bar

Senbazuru has been around for a pretty long time, but I think it’s actually passed ownership multiple times over the years.

Because of that, I found it’s been hit and miss, but it’s great under the current ownership!

Senbazuru Sushi Bar in Richmond Hill

The fish is super fresh, and I love the variety in their sashimi boats.

Their shrimp tempura is also one of the lightest tempura dishes I’ve ever had, and it’s not oily at all!

The interior is cozy and intimate if you’re dining in, though it seems to be more popular for takeout nowadays.

Pearl Sushi is a somewhat newer sushi restaurant (to someone who grew up in Richmond Hill), and they occupy a small spot by Bayview & Major Mac.

I love that they have unique rolls like their Chicken Katsu Roll and Salmon Lover’s Roll.

They have a variety of sushi sets and platters ranging from $20 to $135, as well as cooked Japanese and Korean dinner entrees and bento boxes.

You can order ahead on their website for pickup, which makes life a lot easier!

Spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls from Kibo Sushi House in Richmond Hill, Ontario

Kibo Sushi House

If you’re in the mood for some good takeout sushi, you’ll definitely want to hit up Kibo.

Kibo is one of my fave sushi chains in the GTA, and they’ve got a Richmond Hill location inside Richlane Mall.

The folks here are super friendly, and it’s a super low-key, cozy spot if you’re looking to dine in!

You can’t go wrong with any of their aburi (torched) sushi rolls – they’re absolutely amaze.

My go-to order is the Spicy Maki Trio combo, which comes with 6 pieces each of spicy California, spicy salmon, and spicy tuna rolls – they make some of the best spicy rolls out there!

They also have a small takeout shop inside Hillcrest Mall if that’s a more convenient location for you.

Definitely order ahead on Ritual (one of my fave food apps) so you don’t have to wait in line – you can use my link to get $10 off your first order!

Sashimi, sushi, and maki platter from Aira Sushi in Richmond Hill, Ontario

Aira Sushi

Aira Sushi is an unassuming all-you-can-eat sushi spot in Richmond Hill that’s actually quite good.

You order everything via iPad at your table, which makes things easy!

They don’t have a huge AYCE menu, but their sashimi is quite fresh and their rolls are good.

If you’re ordering takeout, their platters are actually quite affordable – I even got a free order of their Green Dragon Roll for spending over $35 on SkipTheDishes!

Toshi Ryoriten

Toshi Ryoriten is headed by Chef Shinji Mori, who trained in Japan and worked internationally for over 4 decades.

Most of their fish is imported from Japan, and they serve up all kinds of sushi and cooked Japanese dishes.

For dinner, they have set menus for $75 or $95, or you can order a la carte.

Aburi oshi sushi from Cafe Mozaiko in Markham

Cafe Mozaiko

If you love both anime and aburi oshi sushi (AKA torched pressed sushi), you’ll definitely want to visit Cafe Mozaiko, which is located just outside of Richmond Hill in Markham.

They’ve got a bunch of aburi oshi sushi options you can choose from, and they’ve got pretty decently-priced lunch specials and platters as well.

For anime fans, they’ve got menu items inspired by Spy Family, Attack on Titan, and Demon Slayer.

They also have a bunch of different Japanese iced and milk teas you can pair with your meal!

You can order ahead for pickup on their website, which makes life lot easier, but their party tray does require ordering 3 hours in advance.

Cafe Mozaiko in Markham

It’s more of a takeout spot, but they do have seating inside and patio seating outside if you want to dine in!

Their restaurant is located in a sort of hidden area near Woodbine & Major Mac, so it’s kind of a cool hidden gem.

LOCATION: 60 Cathedral High St, Markham, ON

Project Fish: Kitchen Restaurant in Richmond Hill, Ontario

PF Sushi Bar

PF Sushi Bar serves up a unique variety of delicious aburi oshi sushi and special rolls.

They’ve also got classic rolls like Dynamite Rolls and California Rolls, but the torched pressed sushi is what you’ll want to come here for.

Their Salmon Oshi is just *chef’s kiss*.

Project Fish: Kitchen Restaurant in Richmond Hill, Ontario

They’ve also got a few fun taco options made with either a gyoza shell or seaweed shell!

The interior is absolutely stunning, with lush trees and plants and hanging industrial lights.

Aka-Oni Ramen & Izakaya

Aka-Oni is actually an izakaya and ramen restaurant, but they also have some delicious sushi options.

They’ve got unique rolls like their Black Diamond Roll and Oyster Bomb Roll, and they’ve also got a Live Lobster Sashimi!

I love their elevated takes on traditional Japanese dishes, like their Uni Hotate Carpaccio, Lobster Devil Don, and Hokkaido King Crab Milky Ramen.

Their menu is a little pricy, but their fish is super fresh and high-quality.

LOCATION: 10341 Yonge St Unit 5, Richmond Hill, ON

Ato Japanese Restaurant

Ato Japanese Restaurant is an upscale sushi restaurant in Richmond Hill that does a la carte and omakase.

If you don’t know what omakase is, it’s a fine dining experience where the chef makes seasonal dishes using high-quality ingredients right in front of you.

The term “omakase” in Japanese means “I’ll leave it up to you”!

Their omakase options range from $138 to $238, and they also have set menus for 2, 4, 6, or 8 people ranging from $438 to $2280.

You can find their restaurant by 16th & Leslie, and I love that their interior design is inspired by Japanese architecture!

LOCATION: 16 Vogell Rd, Richmond Hill, ON

Rin Sushi

If you’re looking for more omakase experiences in Richmond Hill, Rin Sushi is another fantastic spot.

Executive Chef Jin has over 20 years of fine-dining experience and extensive kaiseki-ryōri cooking experience.

Their omakase ranges from $220 to $240 per person, and they change the menu up by the seasons.
