Cute & fun date ideas in Richmond Hill
Brunch at Chillax Coffee
The brunch scene in the suburbs has been poppin’ lately, and Chillax Coffee is one of my absolute fave brunch spots in Richmond Hill.
This cool brunch spot serves up Asian fusion brunch with delicious drinks like their Rosy Latte and Hojicha Latte.
You’ll find a wide variety of brunch and lunch dishes at Chillax, with dishes like their Chashu Pork Belly Eggs Benedict and Pork Belly Chicken Banh Mi.
I personally love their Chicken & Waffles – they’re super generous with the portions, and the fried chicken is so juicy and flavourful!
For drinks, they’ve got quite a few coffee and tea options, including their Hojicha Latte (probably my fave in the GTA) and Rosy Latte.
You can also find fun and delicious seasonal drinks like their past Strawberry Shortcake Cappuccino and current Peppermint Mocha!
I like that you can order directly through a QR code at your table, and they used to allow you to pay that way as well, but I think they’ve recently changed this.
Definitely add yourself to the waiting list on Yelp ahead of time if you visit on a weekend, because it gets pretty busy!
Afterwards, you can drive a few minutes over to Richmond Green for a little romantic stroll in the park.
LOCATION: 10650 Leslie St #2, Richmond Hill, ON
Hike along Saigeon Trail
Probably my favourite hiking trail in Richmond Hill is Saigeon Trail.
It’s an easy walking trail with plenty of lovely sights, perfect for a romantic stroll.
Most of it is forested, which keeps it nice and shady on hot summer days!
There isn’t any official parking for the trail, but you can park at Autumn Grove Park on Tower Hill Road and walk across the street to one of the trail entrances.
LOCATION: Yonge St. & Gamble Rd, Richmond Hill, ON
Grab bubble tea at Chatime
A coffee date might sound boring, so why not try a bubble tea date instead?
You definitely won’t find a shortage of bubble tea spots in Richmond Hill, and Chatime is one of my favourites.
They have locations inside Hillcrest Mall, at Leslie & Elgin Mills, and at Commerce Gate!
If Chatime isn’t your thing, there’s always The Alley, CoCo, Kung Fu Tea, and Ten Ren’s Tea.
If your date isn’t crazy about bubble tea, you can also just take them to some of the best dessert places in Richmond Hill!
LOCATION: Various locations
Go thrift shopping together
Fancy a little thrift shoppin’?
One of the best parts about visiting the suburbs is going to the thrift stores around there.
Value Village is just south of Yonge & Elgin Mills, and Plato’s Closet is by Leslie & Elgin Mills.
I always love checking out thrift and vintage stores in Toronto, but it feels like you find the hidden gems in the suburbs!
Shop local at the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market
You can pay a visit to the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market outside Hillcrest Mall from spring through summer.
Pick up some fresh and local produce, then head home and cook a romantic meal together!
Afterwards you can watch a little Netflix, Crave, or Prime Video.
LOCATION: 9350 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, ON
Stroll through Richmond Green
Richmond Green is the most beautiful park in Richmond Hill, and it’s the perfect spot to do a romantic stroll through, especially from spring through summer with the flowers in bloom.
I also love visiting during the fall season with all the beautiful foliage – it’s the perfect romantic walk!
I came here to do my prom photos a bajillion years ago, and to this day I think it’s one of the most Instagram-worthy spots in York Region.
LOCATION: 1300 Elgin Mills Rd East, Richmond Hill, ON
Golf at the Richmond Hill Golf Club
Try your hand at golfing at the Richmond Hill Golf Club, and see which if you is the better golfer.
Rates range from $60 to $112 depending on the dates and times you visit, and equipment rentals are extra.
Also, if you visit during in-season weekends, you can get free breakfast before 10:30 AM, which is pretty sweet.
LOCATION: 8755 Bathurst St, Richmond Hill, ON
Picnic at Wilcox Lake
Fancy a little sunset watchin’?
Pack along a picnic dinner and watch the sunset over Wilcox Lake, or even do some fishing or canoeing (if either of you are into that).
If you visit in the winter, you can also skate hand-in-hand over the frozen lake – just be sure to be careful!
LOCATION: 55 Olde Bayview Ave, Richmond Hill, ON
Gaze at the stars at David Dunlap Observatory
Ain’t nothing more romantic than going star gazing.
The David Dunlap Observatory is a heritage site in Richmond Hill, and it’s definitely one of the coolest and most unique spots for a date night.
Take your astronomy nerd here and gaze at the stars together through the giant telescope (the largest in Canada!)
LOCATION: 225 East Beaver Creek Road, Richmond Hill, ON
Watch fireworks at Richmond Green
I know I’ve already mentioned Richmond Green, but like I said, it’s one of the nicest spots to visit in Richmond Hill.
They host Canada Day fireworks at Richmond Green every year, so it’s a super simple yet fun date idea you can do!
Plus, they often have a little carnival on-site for you to enjoy all of the carnival things (like cotton candy).
It’s also super busy when they host fireworks and carnivals at Richmond Green, so if you want to explore the actual park, it’s better to do on a quieter day.
LOCATION: 1300 Elgin Mills Rd East, Richmond Hill, ON
See a performance at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts
Treat your S/O to a live show at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.
Afterwards, you can take them out for dinner along Yonge Street!
LOCATION: 10268 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, ON
Watch a movie at SilverCity Richmond Hill
When in doubt, it’s always fun to watch movies together.
Instead of just Netflix and chillin’ at home, make an excuse to get dressed and go out to see a movie!
Grab some popcorn to share and pick a cute rom-com or terrifying horror movie to watch at SilverCity.
A movie date isn’t the ideal first date, but you can always go out to dinner before or after so you can actually get to know each other.
