Adam and I went on our first official coffee date. Our actual first date was at a music festival, so we didn’t really start off our relationship with “normal” dates. To make it extra special, we decided to go to multiple cafés and make it a café hopping day.
We’d originally planned to go café hopping a week earlier, but we were both too busy. I also wanted to visit RSquared and Quantum, but we didn’t end up going to those. We went to FIKA Café, Wanda’s Pie in the Sky, Voodoo Child, and Delysèes Authentic French Bakery.
First on our list was FIKA Café. The entire café, both inside and outside, was adorable and very Instagram-worthy. We decided to try the iced coffee, which had an acquired taste that neither of us were extremely fond of. Adam thought it tasted like citrus and I thought it tasted like ginger. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet and cozy to study, this place is great.
While walking through Kensington Market, we stumbled across Wanda’s Pie in the Sky. Adam recognized it as the bakery we had desserts from at Paint Cabin. It wasn’t on our list for the day, but we decided to give it a try anyways. The coffee was average and the atmosphere was decent. The service wasn’t amazing but it also wasn’t bad. There was also a hair at the bottom of our cup, but it could’ve been from one of us.
Our last coffee stop was Voodoo Child, which I was most excited for because of the skull glass. We got an espresso drink and it was a bit bitter for me, but it still had a nice flavour. I’d definitely come back just because I think the idea of having coffee in a skull glass is adorable.
We wanted to check out the donut macarons at Delysèes French Bakery. We thought they’d actually donut-sized and we were pretty disappointed. Two out of the six macarons we got were stale.
The macarons themselves tasted fine, despite my unpleasant review in the vlog. I’m just very picky when it comes to macarons. So far, my favourites were these ones Adam got me for Valentine’s Day, which I don’t know the bakery name of.
We ended off the day watching the sunset at Harbourfront and eating pizza while watching Orange is the New Black.
