On the hunt for the best vintage clothing stores in Toronto to update your wardrobe?
Shopping vintage is something I’m making more of an effort to do nowadays, and Toronto has plenty of amazing vintage clothing stores worth checking out.
Shopping pre-loved and vintage is one of the best sustainable fashion choices you can make!
There’s something about visiting vintage shops that’s just so captivating, from imagining the stories behind a piece of clothing to finding one-of-a-kind items you won’t find anywhere else.
I remember the excitement of seeing a rack of western belts in a Salt Lake City vintage store and wondering who all the people were whose names were engraved on the leather.
Were any of the former owners cowboys? Are any of these belts haunted?
There are tons of awesome vintage stores in Toronto, but Queen West and Kensington Market are definitely my favourite neighbourhoods for shopping vintage.

Mama Loves You Vintage
Mama Loves You is a mother-daughter owned vintage shop located just west of Queen and Spadina.
Although my personal style is a lot more modern, seeing their stuff makes me want to dress like I’m in the ’70s.
They have actual vintage pieces from different decades, and the prices are quite fair.
They’re constantly bringing in new selections, so definitely stop in for a little peek whenever you’re in the neighbourhood.
Even if you’re not looking for something in specific, you might find a one-of-a-kind item you never would’ve found otherwise!
They also post new pieces on their Instagram daily, so definitely give ’em a follow to see if anything catches your eye.
You can also DM them on Instagram to purchase pieces (things sell out quickly) and pick them up in-store later!
If you’re looking for the best vintage dresses in Toronto, Mama Loves You is the store of your dreams.
You can even find prom or graduation dresses here if you want something a little more unique!

Sub Rosa Vintage
Sub Rosa has a pretty large selection of amazing vintage pieces, and it’s so hard to resist trying on everything they have in-store.
Their store is very curated with a lot of great selections, which I love!
Be sure to check out every single rack in the store because they have so many incredible vintage finds.
There are a bunch of other awesome vintage clothing stores in Kensington Market worth checking out as well, so you can even do a little vintage clothing crawl in the neighbourhood!

House of Vintage
House of Vintage is a little pricier than other vintage stores in Toronto, but they’ve got a very curated selection of really cool picks.
Whenever I stop in, I always have to dig and look through every single piece they have in-store.
Vintage shopping can be a little intimidating, but you just gotta have fun with it!
I personally like to start at the vintage denim or band tee sections because I have an idea of what I’m looking for, and then I move around the rest of the store.
My fave part about House of Vintage is actually the denim section – they’ve got a huge selection of vintage Levi’s denim cutoffs and jeans at pretty decent prices!
They also have a fantastic selection of vintage graphic tees, and I’m still regretting not getting a Harley tee I really loved a couple years ago just because it was too big for me.
The cool thing about vintage shopping is that you likely won’t find pieces anywhere else, so if something catches your eye, don’t be afraid to give it a try.
Even if it’s not in the size you typically wear or a style you’re particularly interested in!
If you’re looking for vintage leather or suede jackets in Toronto, you’ll also find a good selection at House of Vintage.
It’s one of the best vintage stores on Queen Street West – definitely worth checking out!
Pro-tip when it comes to any vintage shopping: wear a tank top or basic tee with yoga shorts or pants, ’cause ya don’t know where the clothes have been.
It also spares you the hassle of going into the change room if you’re just trying on sweaters or jackets!

Public Butter Vintage
Public Butter is a tad bit crazy for me to navigate, but you just have to delve right into it.
They have a massive graphic t-shirt section full of some really great stuff, including an extensive selection of vintage sports tees and band tees.
I found an amazing old school Raptors tee for like $10 right before they got in the 2019 playoffs, and you can bet I was disappointed I didn’t grab it after they won the championships…
Public Butter is actually located right across the street from House of Vintage on Queen West, so it’s always worth making a stop if you’re going there anyways!
They’re also a sister shop to the iconic Black Market, and you can shop some of their pieces on their website.
LOCATION: 1290 Queen St W, Toronto, ON
Black Market
Black Market is one of the most iconic vintage stores in Toronto, and you’ll find plenty of awesome deals on clothes.
They’ve got two stores right across the street from each other: their OG “underground” location at 256 Queen West and their newer “upstairs” location at 347 Queen West.
Their underground location has more thrift store vibes, while their upstairs location seems a bit more curated and has slightly higher prices.
I personally like the upstairs location more because of the more curated pieces and the atmosphere.
There’s a good amount of space to walk around and plenty of daylight pouring in.
Black Market was actually the first place I ever tried to do any thrift or vintage shopping – it intimidated me so much that I walked out almost immediately!
Even if you “don’t know what you’re doing”, you don’t need to feel ashamed, because you’re choosing to help cut down on textile waste and do good for the planet.
I’m glad I decided to give it another chance, ’cause now I really love shopping vintage pieces!

Expo Vintage
If you’re into graphic shirts and one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, you’ll adore the selection at Expo Vintage.
You can shop a curated selection at their flagship store located at 1450 Dundas West, or dig for deals at their outlet store located at 1978 Dundas West.
If online shopping is more your thing, you can shop their selection on Etsy, and you can even get free local pickup in Toronto with the code “LOCALPICKUP”.
If you’ve got a vintage lover in your life, you can also shop gift cards on their website.

217 Vintage
I adore 217 Vintage’s highly-curated selection of chic and trendy women’s vintage pieces.
They’ve got an amazing selection of button-ups and coats, and they’ve also got some cute graphic tees and crewnecks.
If you’re into vintage designer pieces, you’ll also find pieces from brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, and Danier.

Siberia Vintage
Find this dreamy vintage clothing store in Toronto’s Dufferin Grove neighbourhood, right by Ossington Station.
While their pieces are a little on the pricier side, they have the most gorgeous and unique vintage finds!
They’ve also got a store in Hamilton now, which is worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Space Vintage
Space Vintage is a Kensington Market gem filled with plenty of gorgeous pieces, and it’s owned by a mother-daughter duo!
This tiny shop has been around for over 20 years, and they’ve got so many cute finds.
From lacy corsets to floral skirts, you’ll find tons of feminine and pretty vintage pieces here.
They’ve got an especially amazing selection of vintage dresses, perfect for everything from parties, to weddings, to prom.
Be sure to dig through the racks to get a peek at everything so you don’t miss any good stuff.

Courage My Love
Courage My Love is the oldest vintage store in Kensington Market, having been there for almost 50 years!
They have tons of unique clothing and accessories, with a lot of retro stuff if that’s what you’re into.
They also have an incredible selection of vintage cowboy/western boots, as you can see in the photo above.
If you’re looking for Halloween costumes, definitely come by here in October to take a look, ’cause they’ve got a lot of good stuff!

Hi Vintage
My friends and I stumbled across Hi during the Toronto Vintage Crawl, and we were pleasantly surprised by their amazing curated selection.
They had American Apparel disco shorts and disco pants – the holy essentials of Lookbook fashion bloggers back in the day.
They don’t have a huge selection of stuff in their store, but it’s very curated with a lot of cute pieces.
You’ll find a lot of trendy pieces as well like vests, corsets, and tennis skirts!

Chosen Vintage
Chosen Vintage has all kinds of gorgeous and modern pieces at decent prices.
They release new stock on the daily, and you can peep out some of their newest pieces on their Instagram.
They started out as a monthly pop-up sale in Toronto, and you can now shop vintage pieces at their store on Dundas West!

People’s Champ Vintage
If you’re into vintage sportswear, you’ll definitely want to peep out the selection at People’s Champ Vintage.
Their vintage shop is located right in the heart of Little Italy, and you’ll find a wide variety of vintage graphic tees, sweatshirts, and jackets.
You can shop their pieces in-store, on their website, or on Etsy.

Throwback Vault
Throwback Vault is the perfect vintage clothing store for streetwear lovers in Toronto.
They’ve got all kinds of unique one-of-a-kind graphic t-shirts, crewnecks, and jackets you can shop, and everything is very curated!
You can shop their selection at their store by Queen & Bathurst, which is super nice and really well-organized.
They’ve even got a newer location inside Square One in Mississauga, which is also a really nice store!

Gadabout Vintage
If you’re into all things retro and antique, you’ll be obsessed with Gadabout Vintage.
This vintage store on Queen East offers up everything from homeware to clothing, spanning from the late 1800s to the late ’70s.
It’s a popular spot for prop and set decorators in the film and theatre industry, and they’ve rented/sold pieces to productions like The Handmaid’s Tale (on Crave) and Fantastic Beasts!

Vintage Depot
Find a curated selection of clothing satisfyingly organized by colour at Vintage Depot.
It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but you’ll find tons of awesome and affordable pieces here, and it’s all nicely colour-coordinated.
I’ve found that the best way to go about shopping here is heading to a colour you like, and sifting through any pieces that catch your eye!
You can visit one of their two locations in either Kensington Market or Danforth Village.
LOCATION: 70 Kensington Ave, Toronto, ON
Common Sort
Common Sort is known for both buying and selling clothing, so they’re more like a consignment shop, but they do have some vintage pieces.
They always has a curated selection of really cute things, and they’re very picky about what they buy from people.
They have pieces from trendier and more modern brands like Zara and Aritzia, but they also have a good mix of vintage pieces.
You can sell your clothes to them and receive 50% of what they value your clothing in store credit, or receive 25% of what they value in cash.
It’s worth bringing in seasonal stuff to sell so you can get credit towards any purchases you want to make!
They do take a few hours to price your items though, so take that into account if you plan to visit.
I’ve only been to their Annex and Riverside locations, but they have a location in Parkdale as well!

When it comes to shopping for vintage clothing in Toronto, I’m definitely into stores that have more curated options.
It’s fun to dig through racks and go hunting at thrift stores, but I sometimes prefer just being able to find good things right away!
If you’re looking for a great thrift store in Toronto, I really like Talize – their Mississauga location has a lot of awesome stuff, including brand new clothing with tags from popular brands like Missguided and PrettyLittleThing.
Also, if you live in or around the city, definitely stop by the Toronto Vintage Crawl, which happens twice a year.
Participating stores open late and offer special deals, and it’s just a fun thing to do with any of your vintage-loving friends.
