Naan & Kabob
Naan & Kabob is a must-visit spot for anyone who enjoys the strong and savoury flavours of Afghan cuisine.
You’ll find a variety of traditional Afghan dishes, all made using preservative-free halal ingredients.
They’ve also got vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
I’d highly recommend sharing at least an appetizer or two, and we loved the Bolanee (stuffed naan), Mantu (Afghan dumplings), and Fattoush Salad.
The NK Grill Din features tandoori chicken, shami kabob, and chicken breast, and it’s definitely enough for a meal if you’re not looking to get appetizers!
For vegetarians, there’s the Paneer Kabob Din with marinated and grilled cottage cheese.
For drinks, we tried the Doogh (a traditional mint yogurt drink) and Mango Smoothie.
The Doogh had a very unique and sour taste, which definitely isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. The Mango Smoothie was very sweet!
You can also enjoy their Blended Tea (a mix of different teas and spices) with your meal, and finish it off with some deliciously sweet Baklava.
This family-owned restaurant brand has several locations across the GTA, and their restaurant locations are absolutely stunning.
I love their contemporary downtown space at Yonge & Bloor in Yorkville, which even features a modern communal tearoom with gorgeous and vibrant decor!
They also operate as a no-tipping restaurant, and their prices are pretty reasonable.

Bamiyan Kabob
Bamiyan is another amazing local Afghan restaurant brand with multiple locations across the GTA.
Kabobs are the specialty here, and you can choose from all kinds of different options from their Kofta Kabob to their Tandoori Chicken Kabob.
You can enjoy the kabobs as meals (with salad and naan), kabob dinner plates (with rice, salad, and naan), or as wraps!
You can find their Toronto locations in East York and North York, which are both a bit of a drive from the city, but so worth it.

Afghan Cuisine Restaurant
This family-run restaurant in East York has been serving the neighbourhood since 2013, and they’ve got a large menu filled with everything from BBQ plates to skewers.
They also have a good selection of combos and lunch specials, as well as fairly-priced family platters for anywhere from 2 to 10 people!
They’ve even got a few vegan options on the menu, which is pretty great for my plant-based friends.
You have to order at the counter, but there’s tons of seating inside the restaurant!
You can also conveniently order ahead on their website for pickup if you’re looking to get takeout.
LOCATION: 66 Overlea Blvd, East York, ON
Silk Road Kabob House
You’ll find this café-style Afghan takeout spot tucked away on Bay Street by College Park.
The owner, Lemar, worked for 15 years in Afghan restaurants around Toronto before opening up Silk Road!
They’ve got a good selection of kabobs, which you can enjoy on a plate (with rice, salad, and naan) or as a wrap.
Go for one of their duo combos like their Barg-Kofta Kabob Combo (with filet mignon and ground beef) or Tandoori-Kofta Kabob Combo (with tandoori chicken and ground beef)!
They even have vegetarian and vegan options, including their Beyond Meat Kofta and Tofu Kabob!
LOCATION: 736 Bay St, Toronto, ON
The Kabob Guys
This casual takeout spot in Scarborough serves up charcoal-grilled Afghan kabobs.
They’ve got plenty of dinner plate options, all of which come with brown basmati rice, mixed green salad, naan, and sauces!
You’ll find classic kabob plates alongside more unique options like their Grilled Salmon and Eggplant Zucchini.
They also have celebration platters with kabobs and sides that are perfect for 4-5 people!
They even sell their hot sauce and white sauce so you can take it home with you.
LOCATION: 4045 Sheppard Ave E, Toronto, ON
Kabul Kabab House
I absolutely love the vibrant interior at this casual East End spot – they’ve got beautiful murals with cozy bench seating, all inspired by Afghan traditions.
It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it’s gorgeous inside!
They’ve got a simple menu with a few chicken and beef kabob options, which you can enjoy on plates or in wraps.
They also have combo meals for either 4 or 8 people, which come with appetizers, kabobs, and more!
LOCATION: 1324 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON
Diamond Kabab
You’ll find Afghan dishes alongside more western-style dishes at Diamond Kabab.
The Kabab Platter is perfect for sharing, and it comes with 6 different kinds of meats and kebabs, rice, salad, and naan!
You’ll also find dishes like flatbreads, pastas, and burgers!
The interior is also super nice and modern, and they’ve got tons of seating inside the restaurant!
You can find them by Bathurst & College, just outside of Little Italy.
LOCATION: 398 College St, Toronto, ON
