If you haven’t had shawarma before, it’s a heavenly Middle Eastern dish made up of juicy, marinated meat that’s cooked on a spit and shaved off to perfection.
With Toronto’s incredibly diverse food scene, there are plenty of fantastic spots for your next shawarma fix.

Best shawarma spots in Toronto
Shawarma Empire
This unassuming Scarborough spot serves up some of the best shawarma in Toronto alongside other Middle Eastern street foods.
You can choose between their beef or chicken shawarma, and they’ve also got falafel.
Everything they serve in the restaurant is made in-house, which is really cool!
You can find Shawarma Empire near Lawrence & Victoria Park.
Afterwards, head to Kunafa’s in the next plaza over for dessert and grab a heavenly slice of Kunafa (a deliciously cheesy pastry) or Baklava!

Tasty Shawarma
Also located in Scarborough is Tasty Shawarma, which serves up incredible shawarma wraps and plates, with the meats marinated to perfection.
Take your pick between their mouthwatering beef or chicken shawarma, or go for their falafel if you’re in the mood for a vegetarian option.
You can find them near Victoria Park & the 404!
LOCATION: 2993 Sheppard Ave E, Scarborough, ON
Ghadir Meat & Restaurant
This no-frills meat market and restaurant serves up Middle Eastern staples like shawarma and manakeesh (AKA Middle Eastern pizza).
Go for their beef, chicken, or falafel wraps or plates, or opt for their Ghadir Shawarma Poutine if you’re in the mood for something less traditional!
Since they serve up their own meats, everything is super fresh.
Be sure to shop around and take home some Lebanese and Mediterranean groceries afterwards!
They’ve been around for over 30 years, and you can find them by Victoria Park & Lawrence.
They’ve also got a location in London, Ontario if you find yourself there!

Sumaq Iraqi Charcoal Grill
Get an authentic taste of Iraqi cuisine at this casual Scarborough spot.
Go for their chicken or veal shawarma, or opt for the falafel for a vegetarian option!
They’ve also got a bunch of delicious platters you can order, including their Whole Tanoor Chicken and Sumaq Mix (with ground lamb, chicken breast, and lamb cube skewers).

Two Brothers Shawarma
Enjoy shawarma, kebabs, and more at this casual takeout spot with a few locations around the city.
You can enjoy your shawarma in pita or on plates, and all their meat is cooked to perfection.
They’ve got three locations in Toronto: by Danforth & Victoria Park, in the Eglinton West neighbourhood, and in Mimico.

Flaming Stove
Flaming Stove serves up a wide range of Middle Eastern dishes, including shawarma wrapped in their house-made Saj bread.
Choose between chicken or falafel for their shawarma wraps or plates!
They even have sushi-style Saj rolls with their chicken shawarma or falafel, which is super unique.
Their portions are super generous as well, so their wraps and plates are enough for two meals for me!
You can find them inside Hasty Market by Davisville Station, and they’ve also got a location in Newmarket.

Zaad
Get your fix of shawarma at Zaad, a super cute spot right on Bloor.
This casual spot serves up delicious shawarma and falafel sandwiches alongside an extensive selection of proteins you can enjoy in platters.
The restaurant itself is also super Instagrammable, with brick-clad walls and really cool tiling.

Anoush Shawarma
Anoush is one of my personal faves because I’ve been coming here since I was a teenager!
Their Chicken Shawarma Plate is my absolute fave.
They’ve even got homemade baklava available for dessert if you’re craving a sweet treat!
They’ve got 4 locations in Toronto, as well as locations in North York and Vaughan.

Ali Baba’s Middle Eastern Cuisine
Ali Baba’s is one of Toronto’s most popular shawarma spots, and they’ve got a bunch of locations across the city.
Choose between chicken, beef, falafel, or fish for your shawarma wraps or plates!
You can find Ali Baba’s conveniently located all over the city, including by Yonge & Dundas and on King West.

Paramount Fine Foods
Paramount is a popular Toronto chain known for their amazing Lebanese and Middle Eastern dishes, and they’ve also got a bunch of locations all over the city.

You can find them all around Toronto and the GTA, including by Spadina & Richmond and inside Union Station!
Fet Zun
If you’re looking for a cute shawarma spot to visit, definitely check out Fet Zun.
Fet Zun is by the same people behind the popular Fat Pasha, which recieved Bib Gourmand designation on the 2022 Toronto Michelin Guide!
They serve up casual Middle Eastern dishes like shawarma plates and sandwiches alongside signature cocktails.
You’ve also gotta try their Sabich, which is a heavenly sandwich made up with fried eggplant, a hard boiled egg, and pickles.
They’ve also got a stunning patio you can dine on during the summer!

Zezafoun Syrian Cuisine
This cute and cozy Syrian restaurant in Midtown Toronto serves up a wide range of home-cooked Syrian dishes in their eclectic space.
Alongside traditional Syrian dishes, you’ll find shawarma wraps and platters.
They’ve even got brunch, with interesting dishes like their Jaz Maz (AKA shakshuka) and their Syrian Omelette!
The interior is absolutely adorable, and they’ve also got a lovely patio during the summer months.
If you can’t get enough of Zezafoun, you can shop their pantry items to take home with you.
They’ve got unique items like Rose Jam and Eggplant Jam, and everything is made from organic ingredients!
