I absolutely love exploring the King West neighbourhood – there are so many awesome restaurants and cute spots to visit!

Also take note that not all of these restaurants are specifically located on King Street West – some are just right off of it, but they’re still part of the neighbourhood! 😛

Whether you’re looking for authentic Italian eats or delicious Asian fusion bites, there are plenty of incredible restaurants worth trying on King Street West in Toronto.

Wilbur Mexicana in Toronto, Ontario

Wilbur Mexicana

Wilbur is one of my absolute fave spots for tacos in Toronto, and they’ve also got the city’s best selection of hot sauces to choose from.

Sweet, spicy, really spicy – the hot sauce world is your oyster here!

You also get free chips with your tacos, which is pretty sweet.

LOCATION: 552 King St. West, Toronto, ON


WVRST

WVRST is a beer hall that serves up German-style sausages and all kinds of craft beer.

You can choose from your typical meats, game meats, or even vegan meat from Beyond Meat.

Their Duck Fat Fries are famous, and totally worth a try!

Oh, and they’ve also got some pretty good soft serve ice cream if you’re looking for dessert too.

They’ve got a restaurant inside Union Station as well!

NEO-NY Genoa Salami from Pizzeria Libretto in Toronto

Pizzeria Libretto

Pizzeria Libretto serves up authentic Neapolitan pizza in Toronto, and their NEO-NY Genoa Salami with their house-made chilli oil is *chef’s kiss*.

They’ve got 4 locations in Toronto, including one on King West.

Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen

The King & Portland intersection is where you’ll find a bunch of cute cafés and restaurants in the King West neighbourhood, including Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen!

Chubby’s serves up amazing Caribbean cuisine in a pink and pretty resort-like setting, housed in a restored circa-1890 row house.

From Saltfish Fritters, to Jerk Chicken, to Oxtail Stew, they’ve got all kinds of delish Caribbean eats on the menu.

Go for one of their tropical signature cocktails or enjoy a Ting with your meal.

You can even bring their homemade sauces, spices, and cocktails home with you!

Pizza and cured charcuterie meats from Gusto 101 Italian restaurant in Toronto

Gusto 101

You’ll find Gusto 101 in an industrial-style building (once an auto body shop) also on Portland, and they serve up some of the best Italian food in Toronto.

“Gusto” means “tasty” in Italian, and they serve up tasty modern takes on classic Southern Italian dishes.

Try one of their authentic Italian pizzas or pastas, or their amazing charcuterie!

They also have wine on tap, which is pretty cool!

If you’re looking for cool patios in the King West area, they’ve got a pretty nice rooftop patio to enjoy your Italian food and wine.

They also own Trattoria Nervosa in the Yorkville neighbourhood.

Buca

Buca is one of Toronto’s most beloved restaurants, with a constantly changing menu made up of local and seasonal ingredients.

Go for one of their house-cured meats or unique pastas (with ingredients like pork blood and duck egg).

They also have a second outpost in Yorkville, Buca Osteria & Bar!

Oretta Restaurant in Toronto

Oretta

While I haven’t been a crazy fan of everything I’ve tried at Oretta, overall I still think their food is pretty good.

They also serve up modern takes on traditional Italian dishes, and their space is absolutely beautiful – one of the most Instagrammable restaurants in Toronto!

They also have a separate cute café that’s attached to the restaurant and also has some bites available.

Patria

Patria serves up authentic Spanish tapas and paella on King West in their romantic space.

They source premium ingredients directly from Spain, and they also source the freshest seafood for their dishes on a daily basis!

They’ve also got an extensive wine list with imported Spanish wines to pair perfectly with all your tapas.

Miss Likklemore’s

Miss Likklemore’s serves up upscale Caribbean-inspired dishes in their stunning space.

You’ll find delicious and unique dishes like their Tempura Okra, Slow Braised Oxtail, and Mac Pie.

They’ve also got other globally-inspired dishes like their Likklemore’s Lobster Chow Mein.

They actually started out as a pop-up, and now they’re a full-on restaurant!

You can visit them at their restaurant for dinner from Wednesday through Sunday.

LOCATION: 433 King St W, Toronto, ON


Myth

Enjoy traditional Greek dishes at this upscale King West spot with a gorgeous Mykonos-inspired interior.

You’ll find a variety of delicious Mediterranean delicacies like their Pork Gyro, Xtapodi Psito (grilled octopus), and Salt Crust Baked Fish.

You can also one of their “for the table” options, which come with a few different dishes to share between 2 to 4 people.

The ASTAKOMAKARONADA ($120) comes with whole lobster, the PSARI STO ALATI ($125) comes with salt-crusted sea bass, and the SPALOBRIZOLA ($225) comes with a 40oz Tomahawk Steak.

If you’re a seafood lover, order the Myth Raw Experience for $120, which comes with a variety of seafood dishes.

If you visit during the summer months, you have to dine on their stunning patio!

Lee Restaurant in Toronto

Lee Restaurant

Lee Restaurant is Chef Susur Lee’s flagship restaurant, and it’s all about Asian and French fusion shareable dishes.

Go with one of their tasting menus to sample all kinds of different dishes, or order a few a la carte dishes to share.

Their famous Singapore Slaw features 20 different ingredients!

They’ve also got an extensive wine list and some great cocktails made using handmade ingredients.

Edulis Restaurant

This husband-and-wife-owned restaurant on King West puts a heavy focus on seasonal ingredients for their Mediterranean-inspired set menu.

Seafood, vegetables, and seasonal ingredients are the highlights of their multi-course menu.

They work closely with farmers, fishers, foragers, and suppliers to source the best ingredients, which is amazing!

They’re one of the few Toronto restaurants that operates on a no-tipping basis – everything is included in the fee, which is $185 per person and requires a prepaid reservation in advance!

Dessert isn’t included in the set menu, but you can order it afterwards if you’re craving something sweet after your dinner.

Edulis also received one Michelin Star on Toronto’s first edition of the Michelin Guide for 2022, which is pretty cool!

Cocktail at The Keg Steakhouse, Toronto

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar

The Keg may be a chain restaurant, but they’re Canadian, and the food is great, so I’m including it on this list!

Plus, their King West location is one of the best of their locations – both the restaurant and the patio are great.

It’s the perfect spot on King West to grab a good steak and fine wine (or cocktails)!
