5 Best Toronto Taco Spots

5 Best Toronto Taco Spots

Mexican food is one of the loves of my life. I grew up only ever eating homemade tacos using Old El Paso products, and my life changed when I tried authentic Mexican tacos for the first time. Honestly, I could eat tacos everyday for the rest of my life and never get sick of them.

These are my picks for the best taco spots in Toronto.

1. Grand Electric

Grand Electric Toronto

Grand Electric is by far my most favourite taco spot of all time. I absolutely love their fish tacos and chicken tacos, and their mission wings are the best. Although the restaurant is really nice, the service isn’t very friendly, so I’d recommend ordering takeout or through UberEATS if you can.

2. La Carnita

La Carnita’s tacos are pretty much on the same level as Grand Electric’s for me, but the location is much easier to get to. I prefer coming here during the daytime because at nighttime they blast the music and keep the restaurant pretty dimly-lit, so it’s difficult to talk to whoever you’re with.

3. Wilbur Mexicana

Wilbur is another great taco spot in the city. The tacos always come with a side of nachos! They’ve also got a full-fledged salsa bar to fill all your salsa wants and needs. The restaurant is very spacious, attractive, and clean, and the food comes out pretty quickly.

4. Mi Taco Taqueria

If you’re looking for something quick and cheap, definitely check out Mi Taco Taqueria. I always get the taco plato ($10), which includes two tacos of your choice, rice, and beans. You can customize your tacos to your liking, and I always get a bunch of different salsas on mine. The seating area is pretty cramped, so I’d recommend ordering through Ritual and taking it home!

5. Tacos 101

They’re cheap, they’re located close to the Eaton Centre, and they’re on Ritual, making it a prime taco spot. I usually love fish tacos, but their fish taco is filled with some sort of pickled vegetable and I’m not a fan of it. However, I’m obsessed with their carnitas and al pastor tacos – they’re amazing.
