10 Best Heated Patios in Toronto

Looking for the best heated patios in Toronto before it gets too cold to eat outside?

Personally, I like to be nice and toasty when I’m enjoying a meal during the chillier months, but if you still enjoy eating outside, you do you, homie.

At least these heated patios make it a lot easier to eat outside during the chillier months in Toronto!

Here are some of the best heated patios to visit in downtown Toronto.

Be sure to also follow me on Instagram and TikTok – I share a lot more content on those platforms that don’t make it to the blog!

Best heated patios in Toronto

Fonda Balam

Formerly a popup restaurant known as Birria Balam, Fonda Balam serves up some of the best birria tacos in Toronto.

They serve up a lot more than just birria tacos now, including their Taco de Carnitas (pork carnitas) and Taco de Tinga de Pollo (braised chicken).

You’ll also find a selection of craft beer and signature cocktails to enjoy alongside your tacos if you’re in the mood for a drink.

If you’re in the mood for dessert, try their unique Helado de Aguacate y Maracuya, which is an avocado and passionfruit sorbet!

Fonda Balam was co-founded by celebrity chef Matty Matheson alongside his partners Kate Chomyshyn and Julio Guajardo, and they all bonded over their love of authentic Mexican food.

You can find Fonda Balam at Dundas & Palmerston, just east of Trinity Bellwoods.

The bright and airy restaurant features counter seating centred around the bar, and they’ve also got heated and covered patio seating, perfect for cold or rainy days.

Fonda Balam actually received Bib Gourmand designation on the 2022 Toronto Michelin Guide, which is really cool!

Terroni

Craving some fresh, hot, and authentic Italian pizza to warm up your belly?

Terroni has a few locations across Toronto which all have patios, but their Rosedale location on Price Street is definitely one of the most beautiful patios in Toronto.

Their rooftop patio features wood-panelled ceilings, hanging straw lamps, plenty of greenery, and most important of all: outdoor heaters.

Definitely ask to get the table facing the LCBO (which occupies the historic building across the street) for that incredible skyline view!

They even give you blankets to keep warm on chilly days!

Bar Raval

Enjoy Spanish tapas and craft cocktails at this swanky restaurant by Chef Grant van Gameron, which also has an enclosed patio with heaters during the cooler months.

They’ve got a menu full of classic and house cocktails, as well as local beers and ciders and local and imported European wines.

The interior of Bar Raval is also super unique and romantic, and you can find them right by College & Bathurst!

Interesting thing about this spot: they have extremely limited seating, and you’re meant to stand while enjoying your tapas and drinks!

They also received Bib Gourmand designation on this year’s Toronto Michelin Guide, which is pretty cool!

The Broadview Hotel in Toronto

The Broadview Hotel

Located in the east end of Toronto, The Broadview Hotel is a chic historic hotel that was built as a commercial centre in the late 1800s.

They have a few dining spaces within the hotel, and one of them is their rooftop restaurant that includes a gorgeous outdoor terrace with CN Tower views!

They add outdoor heaters during the chillier months so you can wine and dine while not freezing your booty off.

You can enjoy seasonal dishes made with locally-sourced produce and all kinds of fancy schmancy cocktails.

Definitely a spot worth booking your next staycation at – you can book a stay on Expedia!

P.S. The photo I featured above is actually in their bistro downstairs, which is also super cute!

King Taps Restaurant & Bar in Toronto Financial District

King Taps

King Taps occupies a massive two-storey space in the Financial District, and they’ve got patio spaces both upstairs and downstairs (which are even covered with huge umbrellas for rainy days!)

Craft beer and pizza are the specialties here at King Taps – I’m obsessed with the BBQ Chicken and Stinging Bee pizzas.

You can enjoy classic Italian eats and wine on their rooftop patio, which has a retractable glass roof for rainy days.

El Catrin is also located in the Distillery District, and they’ve got a stunning and super cute patio out front for you to enjoy your Mexican feast.

You can enjoy traditional and modern Mexican bites here, like their Pibil Jackfruit Sopes or their Guacamole with *gasp* crickets as an add-on.
